How To Replace An Old 2 Prong Outlet Using 3 Prong GFCI And Why GFCI Tester Won't Work

Here I demonstrate how to replace an old 2 prong receptacle with a new 3 prong GFCI receptacle. This old-type of house wiring doesn't have a ground wire that newer houses come standard with.
This is why electricians use the GFCI-type of receptacle instead of the standard receptacle seen in any modern house. So if you don't want to re-wire your entire house, then using this GFCI outlet is the next best thing.
HERE ARE THE TOOLS AND GFCI OUTLET I USED IN THE VIDEO:
GFCI Outlet : amzn.to/3P0tUCL
Cover Plate : amzn.to/45KYPtO
GFCI Tester : amzn.to/3qNJIAV
Voltage Detector : amzn.to/46c5Cgj
Wire Strippers : amzn.to/3Pm1Aw0
Hammer Drill : amzn.to/3R5fK6a

There is a line in the old movie The Golden Child that I think would work well in your video. Eddie Murphy screams "There's No Ground!" Well explained video.

The GFCI works on the principle of detection of fault current through a path external to the normal current path of the circuit. The normal current path is via the black ("hot") wire and the white neutral. A fault current is any current external to that normal path such as current through a person making contact with the circuit. A ground wire is not necessary for the GFCI to respond to a fault. The GFCI "sees" a fault whenever there is a difference in the current flowing in the "hot" and the neutral wires.
