I am faced with doing this task plus replacing my upper Dash part that goes over the instrument panel because it's cracked so I will be replacing the bulbs as well. Thanks for this!

2:50, wrong way.. You break the tabs off the headlight switch mount that way. there’s a pocket in the bottom of the knob, pry the knob off, flip it upside down, and then the knob is the unlock key. Twist the knob and the whole housing unlatches from the dash. Good video!

WARNING: My 1997 F-150 headlight switch panel should not be pulled out all at once. First remove the cover. Then there is a black slide to remove the box that contains the connections. I replaced all 5 194 bulbs (2 were burned out) and 19 of the smaller T5 bulbs, all of which appeared good. My original bulbs lasted 27 years. If the replacements last that long they will outlive me.

Thanks for posting..good to see the order of things AND where the screws are instead of just yanking whatever wherever. Easy task but I didn't push the gear selector Up enough and there was a thin line of light showing above it is incomplete annoying..real easy fix just removed the 1st panel and with a long screwdriver just push it up and it clicked in place. Love RU-vid thanks for taking the time to post. BTW I went to AutoZone and bought a 2 pack of bulbs $7 but dropped the tiny bulb holder and it completely disappeared searched 2 days finally went to junkyard and got 4 complete ones, 2 larger ac heat panel bulbs, 2 wiper bolt covers and 4 brake bleeder caps for $3.25. I didn't mind spending the extra $$ as AutoZone was nearby. Man I saw the thing fall and heard it hit the blacktop pavement with black rocks everywhere..2 days searching for nothing. All done now all panels replaced feels good. Maybe it bounced up into the bumper or something couldn't find it so small. Good day.

Thanks for the video. I just bought a used 97 for a utility truck and only 1 light works in the dash. This will be a breeze now that I know where all the fasteners are!

Im still more use to working on chevy trucks but the blown head gasket on chevys must be a common problem with them I've seen alot of cars and trucks with that problem all on chevys. But now i understand why and how all fords get transmission problems so its best if you just buy a new ford to get a none reusable transmission pan gasket for it and on the transmission filter reuse the old rubber ring on the new filter because the new filters ring is almost hard plastic its not made right and the filter wont fit in so use the old ring on the new piece i did

And clean the area as you go.. do LEDs work without anv modifications?

i want to replace the lights in my dash on my 97 f150. I ordered the illumination lights but i now need the warning lights. do you have a link for the bulbs should i get. thank you

Dumb question but I’m assuming u should be able to swap out the cluster lights the same way right? Like the check engine and oil pressure lights are all bulbs right just smaller that can be replaced?

Another thing I plan on doing since there's a theft light that flashes you can see at night between the odometer and tach..to add/tie in a red light bulb that would be more visible if on the top of the dash. Fool someone to think there will be an alarm going off when broken in to.

All your small gauges are on the left side mine are on the left and right side my small gauges aren't all cluster on one side like that and no buttons on the steering wheel but other than that small stuff looks the same

You said that the bulbs where the black sockets are are 194 bulbs. Are the other bulbs 194 also where the grey sockets are?

Hey for the main lights You said they were T10 bulbs Do you know what the other bulbs are? I want to replace all mine but haven’t found anything information on them

Why didn’t you just tilt the wheel down, pull off bottom plastic around steering wheel and unscrew instrument bezel?

Well after taking a better look it is the bulbs so I'll need to buy probably 5 new bulbs and then mess with that stuff on a day we have nothing to do cause it'll take me some time breaking off the plastic without cracking it and stuff its a easy job plus i get to sit on my ass while doing all that

Oh an if thats a 97 truck its actually a 96 and was sold in 97 Mines a 97 sold in 98 so it says its a 98

That is absolutely not how you remove the headlight switch.

STOP! Before you break your headlight switch, research the proper way to remove it. This video is NOT it!

If you put the park brake on and pull the shifter all the way down you will have more room and if you have tilt tilt the wheel down
