You did a lot of work. There is no need to go through this much trouble. You can reach the sensor without going through all of that. 🙃

Just replaced mine on my 6.0L. Only thing I removed was beauty cover. Then you're able to reach behind and take it off with socket and pull it up. Takes maybe 30 minutes, don't have to replace manifold gasket (because you didn't remove), and only hard part is feeling for the actual sensor. I used scope for cylinders to help along with face timing my buddies phone and using mine (better quality) as a scope.

I recommend that you replace the Oil sensor, and the Knock sensors. Looks like the knock sensors have already been replaced on this one as I see atv gasket maker preventing water getting back into the back one. I normally put a bead around both in such way that any water goes around these senors. Oil senor is famous for going out on these motors.

There is no need to remove the manifold to replace the CMP on a 6.0. It's tricky but I just did one. Took about 30 min.

@ 8:24 he is installing a different intake manifold. The use of new gaskets is highly suggested with the OE manifold. The "Dorman style" manifold being put back on in this video comes with preinstalled gaskets around each port. It is also slightly taller than the OE manifold . Also, the map sensor gets relocated on that one. It is on the top of the OE manifold, but goes in the lower rear of the "Dorman style".

I broker the top part of the sensor trying to twist, pry, back and fourth, etc etc...now the rest of the sensor is still in the head. Any tips? I went from the bottom up.

WARNING: Replace the intake manifold gaskets while you have the manifold off!! They are notorious for leaks (including mine which led me to find this video which illustrates manifold R&I pretty well). Rough running, the common P0300 Random Misfire, and other problems result from vacuum leaks when the manifold gaskets flatten and deteriorate.

They switched intake manifolds is part of the reason. Take a closer look....8:24. They should've mentioned this. The manifold they put back on is the "Dorman style. It comes with individual gaskets installed around around each port.

May as well replace those knock sensors while you have the intake manifold off if they have never been replaced. They are also a notorious problem on these trucks.

My 05 Silverado stalls randomly. I could be going 20 or 70 on highway and stalls. Cold or warm still stalls. Once it stalls I wait about 30 minutes and it will start again and drive. Brought it to three mechanic and they can’t figure it out. Just replaced fuel pump and wasn’t that. Will this sensor potentially fix my problem??

So question....i changed my Camshaft position sensor in my 2005 chevy silverado. i also changed the starter. but now its throwing the low voltage/circuit Po342 code. would the Camshaft sensor maybe not seated properly or whats going on now? truck when on runs perfect. started perfect for a week with check engine on and yesterday it had trouble starting again. what could it be? battery is great. starter is new. my only thing im thinking is it not being seated properly so it could be off kilter and not getting good voltage. any help would be appreciated. Thanks

same problem. p0342. changed cam sensor 3 times. still code and hard to start every other time. runs great otherwise. new battery, new pcm, new cam sensor pigtail/wiring. traced all wiring and no breaks or grounding issues. changed crank sensor. Ideas? still have problem.

Hey Dustin, I know this is an old post but i was wondering what fixed your issue. I am having a similar issue with my 05 suburban. I replaced the camshaft position sensor but i still get the P0342 code. Next thing i am trying is to clean out the electrical connectors with contact cleaner and checking the wiring harness for any obvious damage. Any help would be appreciated! THanks!

I have an oil leak mystery. Can the cam sensor possibly be the culprit.lv already replaced oil pressure sensor. Love your videos
@jake5210
@jake5210 3 года назад
It could be either of those. Or if the universe really hates you it could be the rear main seal/ rear cover which basically requires that you take apart your entire truck. Coming from experience in that endeavor, I wouldn't recommend it as a diy project unless you have a shop to do it in over multiple grueling days.

I broke the number 1 bolt on the intake manifold when attempting to torque to 89 in lbs. I did all the other 9 with no issues. The car has been running fine now for the past two weeks now. Should I worry about that broken bolt?
@clydecalamity6520
@clydecalamity6520 4 года назад
Ismael Nieves It might cause a vacuum leak on the nearby port. I would replace the bolt with a new one and torque it slightly less. But if you want to get away and just not do it, get a scan tool and look for a trouble code. Might be a misfire or a vacuum leak or say intake manifold, etc. If you don’t see anything or don’t feel the truck misfiring, you should be okay enough to just leave it as is.
