Thank you! This helped a lot, i need to replace the sprockets for the secondary chain and i needed to knoe how to take them off, sadly you didn't have to, so I'll keep looking.

Undo the sprocket bolts before you remove the chain tension. Or you may have to remove the whole shaft so you. An hold it from spinning while removing the bolt.

Hi Pete. I came across your channel when your "is it necessary to change your transmission filter" video was suggested in the section to the right. Excellent video, and advise by the way. I'm currently working on my 98 GMC Savana 2500 work van and while changing the plugs and wires I noticed fluid pouring out of the steering gearbox boot on the top. After reading hours of reviews and online advise I'm stumped, and thought maybe you could shed some light. New or re-manufactured, brand, etc. With some many opinions claiming failure weeks or months after replacement on new and re-manufactured. I realize 80%+ of those complaints come from beating on the new gearbox, not flushing/bleeding, etc. I'd REALLY appreciate any advice. Sorry for commenting about this topic on this video, just figured I'd have a better chance of you seeing it and getting a reply. Thanks either way!

I would make sure the leak wasn’t coming from the fittings where the lines connect to the gearbox. They usually have o-rings on the end of them. I’ve never seen one of those gearboxes leak badly. They usually they just seep slowly. But if it is coming from the gearbox itself, I would get one that has the best warranty and avoid beating the steering shaft onto the input shaft of the gear. Should be pretty straightforward.

@@PetesGarageandperformance Thanks Pete! Unfortunately it's definitely the input shaft seal, and you're right, it was gently seeping for the last 3 or 4 years (few drops a day) but now it's a big drop every few seconds, and for what ever reason the steering wheel is turned about 20ish degrees going straight down the road and it's never been aligned...assuming that's wear in the box itself. Engine degreaser is soaking now, I'll rinse it in a little while and get started. Thanks again for the info.
