Not knocking the video at all but just an FYI, the Instructions on my Fel-Pro Perma-Dry one piece gasket for a NON SKIRTED Ford 5.0 oil pan say to use a small amount of RTV in each of the four corners on the block side of the gasket. Unless your a racer and you spent a lot on your engine block, I'm sure your engine block is NON SKIRTED ! And to Stevie and the Minute Masters keep making the videos ! I know your helping a lot of people.
@TheMinuteMasters

yulost2 Actually, I appreciate it man! I researched what a skirted engine is and didn’t find anything conclusive. I might have added RTV to be on the safe side but so far not a drop of oil from the pan. What is a skirted engine? Can you point me in the right direct to learn about it? Anyhow, thanks so much! I appreciate you watching the video and supporting the channel! 🤙 The more people I can help the better!

Dang! How'd I get here so late? STEEEEEVIE from the Minute Masters! GREAT video my brother. You and I have some similar passions. Your Milwaukee collection is like mine. You have no idea! Even heated clothing - it's an illness I think. SMART man for changing that pan gasket. Wow! Those things are trash on my 93-95 F-150 straight sixes! And I know you know it, got to jack that motor up to clear that pan and get it out. PAIN. You did the right thing and used a super high quality gasket. Might want to consider replacing those motor mounts while they are looking at you. Really changes the sloppines and sag of the motor in the engine bay. I grabbed a couple of sets at Rock Auto and glad I did it. The old ones were rock hard and cracked. Really helps with eliminating the vibrations of motor in bay and, re-aligns the engine to transmission etc. to the correct engagement points. GREAT video as usual buddy. Thanks for taking the time and effort. LOVED this one as expected. I see someone "cleaned" up the Ford insignia and part number on that pan. LOL. Take care.

Patrick PhippsPA Haha! No problem Patrick! I knew you would comment soon. Thanks!🤙 I have the heated jacket too! Milwaukee just makes good stuff and they are always ahead of the curve in the industry. Yeah I’m glad i did it with the engine out. It just makes the cleaning process easier. So actually I had the motor mounts replaced a couple years ago when a transmission shop rebuild my trans the first time. But I know what you mean. My engine was really sloppy before they changed them. Thank you Patrick! I appreciate you watching! 🤙 I sure did! I like to see the old logos and serial numbers.

Those are insane torque specs for oil pan bolts. No way they were that tight upon removal on mine, factory install for sure.
@TheMinuteMasters
@TheMinuteMasters 4 года назад
warriorforestmonk I totally agree but that’s what the manual says. I’ve talked with a couple of guys about the oil pan torque specs. We agree a good hand tightening with RTV in the corners is the trick to keeping the pan leak free.
@warriorforestmonk
@warriorforestmonk 4 года назад
I misread the torque. Its in INCH pounds so if my math is correct, those torque specs are closer to 8-12 ftlbs which makes sense. I went down a rabbit-hole of forum research only to finally realize that I had misread the calculations.... Anyways- your vids they are super helpful and I really appreciate them! I have the motor out of my 95 F150- seal refresh, oil pump, etc. Thanks again!

I did an oil pan gasket replacement on my 95 Mustang GT. I did not pull the engine out. It was a piece of cake. Used a bottle jack under the harmonic balancer to raise the engine. Now I'm doing a oil pan and timing cover gasket replacement on my 92 5.0 F150 what a pain it is compared to the Mustang. Yes I'm doing it with the engine in the truck.
@TheMinuteMasters
@TheMinuteMasters 2 года назад
I’ve heard of people using that bottle jack method. But your experience confirms what I figured it would be like. Difficult. What makes it harder to do on an F150?
@rgbigdog
@rgbigdog 2 года назад
@@TheMinuteMasters the bottle jack method would not work on the F150 the cross member is in the way. You would have to prefab an offset bracket for it to work. On my 95 Mustang you have an open area under the balancer which gives you a straight shot with a bottle jack. I think that the Haynes manual even tells you to use a bottle jack to lift up the engine but you still have to drop the oil pump into the pan to get the pan over the K- member.
@rgbigdog
@rgbigdog 2 года назад
@@TheMinuteMasters I'm using a engine hoist, but I saw a video where the guy said he had to take off the upper plenum of the engine to get enough clearance so he could remove the oil pan and yes he also had to drop the oil pump into the pan.
@TheMinuteMasters
@TheMinuteMasters 2 года назад
@@rgbigdog Gotcha that makes sense. I think most guys get an engine lift in order to jack the engine up enough to get the oil pan off on an F150.
@foxmulder216
@foxmulder216 2 года назад
@@TheMinuteMasters that's the smartest way, I had to drop my transmission to move the flywheel to even get clearance to pull the pan all the way out. What a pain. New motor mounts, valve cover gaskets, rod bearings, pan gasket off the list though.

Depending on what year, your Ford F150 is... IF it's a 2000 to 2005 Ford F150 4.2l V6 Engine. It will be easier to remove the Transmission, one side of you exhaust, remove one side motor mount bolt, losen the other side bolt, lift the engine with an Engine hoist, and remove oil pan. (It is recommended, you replace rear oil seal on Crankshaft. Take your time and do it right.

I did it with the Fel Pro with the pegs., didn't jack up the engine. If I did it again I would use the Factory gasket and pull it out, but it has worked for a few yrs, leaks slightly now, but not bad at all. 1994 f150: how to fix acceleration problem, peddle to floor improper response, sluggish? Help, please. Replaced MAF, plugs, wires; going to get code reader. Is this common problem, like a fail safe issue ("limp" mode)? YIKES!
@TheMinuteMasters
@TheMinuteMasters Год назад
Hi Michelle, sluggish response can be a lot of thing. I would definitely get a code reader and see if any error codes have been generated. This will help illuminate any sensor-based issues. The other parts that could be related to your sluggishness, could be your distributor cap, distributor rotor, fuel filter, and air filter.

@TheMinuteMasters

Gil Aragonez This is the 5.0L V8 from a 95 F150. It’s the same engine as a Ford 302 but with minor changes to accept efi. Fel Pro gaskets can be bought just about anywhere. Most auto parts stores sell them but I think they call them “premium” or “best” part. I think I got these either from Summit or Amazon. Just check the serial numbers with those on Fel Pro’s website.

About 6. I put 5 in first and then check the dip stick. As for oil weight, I’ve heard people using either 10w-30 or 5w-30. I think they are both fine. I ran 10w-30 for years and switched to 5w-30 because the winter here in Iowa was in the negatives.
