How to replace the Diaphragm in a rain bird sprinkler valve. The diaphragms cost about 10 bucks you can buy the whole valve for 15 so you might want to do that. I never did this before the hardest part was cleaning up the area. Its six screws and just make sure its clear of debris and don't tighten the solenoid to tight use your hand and not a wrench.

I didn’t close my solenoid all the way and got wet when I turned the main water back on. Lesson learned

Tighten the screws in a crisscross / star pattern or you might create a valve body leak.

sometimes you have to put a little electricity to the solenoid for the plunger to activate and close.

question - how would you properly flush a valve in a valve box without filling valve box w water prior to changing the diaphragm - I noticed in your video it is not in a valve box
@TomLeeman

That is a good question I’ll have to do a little research on that

I replaced a leaking Rainbird diaphragm with a new valve from rainbird and that one leaks as well, my lawn is a swamp on one side of the yard. Any ideas on how to fix a new rainbird sprinkler valve?

try reseating the diagram. Run an "on off" on your solenoid/vavle. Check your solenoid with a 9v battery. It should click if it is working.

@@asiasmaster sometimes people sinck a screw through that diaphragm. I like the Rain Bird PEBs better but they're 3 times the cost. Hunter makes a valve and the screws don't go through the diaphragm that is the the equivalent of Rain Bird 100 DVF.

Instruction was good but I'm tired of hearing people use the f-bomb and other other references that seem to be prevalent to fill in sentences. I'm not a prude but it wasn't necessary and other vocabulary could have been used .

Really? You're going to film 5 minutes removing screws and then 5 minutes tightening them? OK...I'm exaggerating. I do appreciate the tips though. Thanks.
