Very grateful 1A Auto created this series on the FJ. It’s been critical for enabling me to exercise my right to repair. Please note the following missing torque specs in this video, which were described as “really tight”, “tighten down” or “bottom out”: Bolts going into the knuckle from the Bearing should have 59 Ft. Pounds of torque. Brake Tube Bracket (by Caliper, which attaches onto the knuckle) is 21 Ft lbs. Source: Toyota maintenance manual

Heads up ... apparently there can be a discrepancy from 35 to 36mm for that bolt. Mine was 35. Recommend buy both to be sure and return the one you don't need later.

What year is your fj? I have a 2012. I keep seeing different sizes for the front hub nut listed. Thanks

For those of you trying to do this yourself: If you are removing the wheel hub assembly to put into different knuckles (think gusseted spindles) you don't have to 'bonk' them with a hammer. Penetraing oil all around the top of the hub assy and then slide (hammer) a small screwdriver to make a space and then add more pblaster and then pry it out switching sides with a fat screwdriver or prybar. No need to damage shit for no reason. You will also possibly (probably) need the gasket (oil gasket seal oem part #90316-a0001) that goes into the back of the knuckle. You can also take the pepsi challenge with an autozone part that is much cheaper but its very different from the OEM part. If your gasket is messed up, it might be why your wheel bearings went. Ours was fine but we messed them up taking them off. Good luck peeps.

Great video 1A Auto as always! During the install there needs to be a O-ring on the back of the wheel bearing. This was not installed in the video, but should come in your kit when you buy the whole assembly. Keep on wrenching!

You forgot that large o-ring, I totally missed it until I noticed it on my second hub, so the first hub has no o-ring behind it. Hopefully normal driving in Oregon doesn't send any water in there. Nice videos, I watched them before changing my hubs, cv axles, shocks , rotors and pads. I ordered everything from you guys and it arrived in 3 days , everything has fit so far ( still have to do the back shocks, rotors and pads).

I'm not sure what FJ you have but mine was not like this. I own a 2007 Voodoo Blue FJ 2wd. I watched this video like 6 times to make sure I didn't miss anything. Mine doesn't have a drive axel on the front. I can only assume your working on a 4WD version. My bearing hub is magnetic or something. Anyhow you may want to define what FJ you specifically did this on. Thanks for the video tho it was still helpful.

instead of a box end wrench you can torque those 4 bolts using a torque adaptor( dog bone). what is the torque supposed to be?
@1AAuto
@1AAuto 4 года назад
+Indy Live! Thank you for checking us out! There is no torque specification for the four 17mm mounting bolts. They just need to be tightened in a crossing pattern. Hope this helps you out!

your missing the o-ring that goes on the back side of the bearing btw. but nice video
@pawezieja3806
@pawezieja3806 4 года назад
1st you should also replace backing plate, 2nd you should replace seal that goes behind the steering knuckle part no. 90316-72001 - in 99% cars its fried and without it bearing will fail. 3rd I would install OE bearing if you don't want to redo this in 6 months. 4th you don't need to remove brake line clip if you are removing bracket its hold on.
@AlejandroGonzalez-pe5ku
@AlejandroGonzalez-pe5ku 4 года назад
They did replace the seals, its in the video where they replaced the cv axle, they did all at once but edited and its not shown on this particular video. They removed the spindle, replaced the rear seal and installed the wheel bearing.

Can you reuse your existing Hub if your going to purchase and press in new home bearing?
@mariarenequiroga9249
@mariarenequiroga9249 10 месяцев назад
Great video, however I see that you did not install the huge o-ring that goes between the bearing itself and the Knuckle, when you removed the old one it clearly shows the factory o-ring and when you compare both bearings none of then have one. Same happens when you reinstall it, no o-ring. I'm sure is very important to help no moisture or rust goes into the ABS sensor interior area.

Definitely not Toyota approved removal process, much easier process is to use the bearing retaining bolts to pull out bearing.. May need thin spacer between bolt head and hub.

Is this the same process for replacing the rear wheel bearing & hub assembly? Will these parts work for front and rear respectively? www.1aauto.com/toyota-lexus-front-driver-and-passenger-side-2-piece-wheel-bearing-and-hub-assembly-set-trq/i/1ashs00951/1054482/2007 www.1aauto.com/toyota-lexus-rear-driver-and-passenger-side-wheel-hub-bearing-module-2-piece-set-trq/i/1ashs00555/559715/2007

I WOULD DEFINITELY GO BACK TO MECHANIC IF HE DID WORK THE WAY IT SHOULD BE DONE!! A LITTLE CHIPPING AND SO.E PAINT GO A LONG WAY???

The top race was taller than the oringinal toyota part. You just want to sell part. Bearing and housing should of been reinstalled and torque down you. Half ass job.
