Thanks, I learned something new. I still have the grease fittings on them with the bearing buddies on, forgot to take them out and blow with compressed air. Don't have an air compressor so i will use the cans, hopefully has enough power.

There should be a zerk fitting at the end of the spindle. That is far superior than the Bearing Buddy in my opinion. It pumps grease through both bearings in and out the front. With the bearing buddy you'll have to take the wheel off to replace the grease.

When installing a new hub is doe it matter if spindle is tapered or not, or u only have to worry bout it if u guys just replacing the wheel bearing, but if whole hub should b fine regardless of spindle?

In my experience those particular hubs seem to let the most water in, the regular old hubs without the grease nipple hold out water for longer periods therefor lasting season after season, I’ve tried these hubs thinking I was doing my self justice but the fact was they were failing only after a year or two of use Just stick to the regular old sealed hubs

Did you replace the sleeve you removed off the inner axle? I didn’t see it go back on? I don’t think it comes with a universal hub?? Great video!!

I've owned salt water boat trailers and never weld them. I replace every three yrs and don't even find that water got in.

Welding burns off the galvanized zinc. If anything just tap your cap or bearing buddy with a rubber mallet once in a while

Mine has a grease zerk on the end of the spindle which is where you blew out the old grease. .. Maybe looking at it wrong but don't see how that bearing buddy will force grease thru to the back correctly???

sand paper grit varies the one used on video was 800grit depending on burrs on spindle

Have you ever see anyone spindle shaft broke off from there boat trailer. Can that happen?

Mine is still got play like it’s not pushed all the way back on the spindle but it appears to be.

The area between back of hub to end of axle that is rusted mine is just the same as axle your putting new hub on my trailer guy is saying replace entire axle due to that yet it looks same as one you just put new hub on is it necessary to replace whole axle you only changed hub appreciate the video and cant wait to hear your answer thnks

Always force grease thru the bearing before you install them.

I know this video is a older one but I just purchased a boat trailer and 2 spear wheel hub complete kits. It already has some grease inside the hub but is that enough grease out the box if I ever need to change it or should I add more once its installed. Please advise thanks!

Bearing buddies are not a good idea. People usually add too much grease until it blows out the rear seal.

Why using red loctite ? That is almost like a permanent solution. Why is the Blue not enough ?

Use emery cloth not sandpaper

If you use Loctite go with BLUE Loctite, not RED. Red is for permanent attachment and has to be removed with Heat.

Remember boys and girls, there's no such thing as using too much grease!

What’s the deal with those rubber gloves people are wearing nowadays when they work on stuff? Hell! I remember my Dad working on cars and trucks back in the 60’s and 70’s and he never wore any of those panty waist girly rubber gloves. He’d just wash his hands in gasoline when he was done with a Pall Mall red hanging from his lips. He didn’t die from lead poisoning from the gas or oil that was on his hands and arms. He’s 80 years old now and still ticking. I guess all these so called mechanics nowadays are just feminine and don’t wanna get any grease under their fingernails! 😭
