How to Reset a Service Engine Oil Message on a Pontiac G8

My Enter switch on the steering wheel does not function properly. I can no longer reset my my trip meter and other DIC info. It just changes the radio bands when you press it in. Any suggestions or should I bring it to the dealership?

Question...since changing oil doesn't reset the "Service Engine Oil" message, is that message set to appear after a certain amount of time or a certain amount of miles? Like I had my oil changed 6 months ago, and I've only covered about 1,600 miles in that time. You would think if the message were tied to some kind of sensor to check the oil, it wouldn't have appeared on my dashboard, right?

What about if I rest the service oil engine but I still didn't change the oil, and when I check the engineering mods the oil life said 99% how can I know if it's read correctly or not and when I change the oil soon to re rest again if I don't get the same check light (service oil engine)??
