Just showed this to my wife and she said she sees them at yard sales but they look "rough". I said everything can be fixed on this so if you see them for under $10 get it! I have hurricane stoves and Camp Chefs that runs on propane but it always good to have back up to the backup. BTW, I bought a propane version circa 1985 at a yard sale from a co-worker that said her husband was the line supervisor at Coleman. When the propane models first came out unit one was given to him. It has a "1" stamped on the bottom, it is mustard color and the lady was not prone to lie. As a matter of fact she was so stately and stern behind her back we called he "Mrs No Praying in Church". Fantastic find Blackie!!

Hey Blackie! Another great video! "Hello my name is John and I'm a stoveaholic." At one time there was 17 camp stoves in my house, as an old time scoutmaster and an inveterate tinkerer I absolutely cannot pass up a bargain on a camp stove or lantern! For most of my working life I lived in "Company Housing" (repossessed house trailers parked across the street from the heliport) they all had electric stoves, in those days in south Louisiana the power went off at least twice a day even on a good day, thusly a Coleman Stove and a can of fuel was always in my "Deployment Kit." Thanks again, stay safe, keep a weather eye toward the woodline, Pink.

When small lever is turned up it opens a small hole on top of dip tube inside tank so vapors can be used to ignite when cold. Also white gas has no shelf life since it's a pure distillate of gasoline that doesn't leave any varnish long term. There are many who have stored white gas in their stoves for decades and they still will ignite. Use mineral oil to lubricate the cup seal since it resist turning into varnish or drying out compared to other types of oils. A good addition is to buy a propane adapter and store it inside as optional fuel backup.

I have 4 of them. I’m looking now for a 3 burner. I dug my first one out of an old barn. It’s rusty, crusty, and looks like it’s been through WW3.I took it home, inspected it, put fuel in it and fired it up. Works awesome. Very, very, very valuable to have laying around in case of an emergency or SHTF scenario. Awesome video and would love to see a video of the other larger one you got with this one.

Blackie , I recently contacted the folks at Seafoam engine products about which product to use with Coleman appliances with white gas. He said that there's a tech working there that adds a an ounce of their motor treatment to every gallon he opens. NOT DEEP CREEP tho. If that stuff will knock the varnish and gunk out/off a throttle plate it should work championship good here😂 Y'all know better than I do , a little elbow grease and normal everyday household and garage cleaners etc keep these things going, so whoever designed them KNEW they needed to last lifetimes

Wow, this is Deja-Do Blackie! I JUST did the exact same cleanup on my two burner stove, over a Rubbermaid tub, using a mix of Simple Green, and carburetor cleaner (great for cleaning up the burners themselves). The only difference is I put a stainless steel wire shelf from an old refrigerator across part of the tub so I can still get down to the cleaning solution, but don't have to sit the stove fully into it, plus anything that washes off just goes through the gaps in the shelf and into the tub.

Yeah I have a thing for camp stoves and lanterns. I get mine from garage and estate sales. Not only should you have them but also practice cooking on them so you have a feel for using one when you don't want to be learning something new. Oven + some Jiffy mixes can produce what we call comfort food. Another thing to practice is canning meat on one. It can save all of that meat in the freezer from going bad. I used to use Bon Ami on my Coleman stoves and lanterns. If you accidentally get soapy water in or on a burner (I am sooo guilty), run clean water through the burner and THOROUGHLY dry with compressed air. I had no idea the burners unscrewed. I had to stop and go back for a before and after view of the tank! I think I would have discarded the old fuel and refueled the stove.
