Both you have an original Floyd Rose bridge or a Floyd Rose licensed or a Floyd Rose Speedloader, here you can learn how to setup and re-string your Floyd Rose tremolo system in a while after you change strings no matter the gauge and tuning you're changing.

This video is without a doubt the best video on youtube for setting up this type of trem... ive tried this on an Ibanez RG350, a Kramer Pacer with a licensed Floyd and some other dirt cheap guitar with a cheap and nasty Floyd copy and it worked on all of them with no problem at all.... those who say this does not work are either not paying attention... skipping some of the steps because you think you know eveything or are full of shit..... a guitar tech charges quite a lot of money to set these things up, you can do it here for free and correctly if you use your brain for a few mins.

Absolutely man! I bought a nice cheap chinese Jackson from Sam ash brand new a few months ago when it arrived I broke two strings instantly and returned it. Recently I purchased a nice Jackson rrxmg and the strings needed replacing. Do you think I paid guitar center $75 bucks HELL NO! I turned to RU-vid and with this video i did a full setup the first time trying on a floyd rose special. I used a stack of 10 pennies to rest under the bridge plate and it worked like a charm the trem remained level throughout the whole process. I cut one high-e string too short on accident but other than that this video is the king of all floyd rose tutorials. Nothing compares. If people cant understand these simple steps to defeating the mythical floyd rose setup then nothing can help them.

Finally I found a good tutorial! I really like going from D standard to C standard and in between but.was always intimidated by the Floyd Rose so I just have it in D standard and use another guitar for alternate tunings.

Fantastic help as always Galeazzo. I just needed to set a guitar up quickly to get some pictures before listing on eBay and time was short. Your method worked perfectly and within minutes - but with one difference: on the Ibanez RG370DX a wedge won't hold the bridge up because by the time the bridge is level, there's not enough room below it for this to work. So I put the tremelo arm in, turned it to face the back of the guitar and pushed the wedge under THAT - which stopped the bridge going down when I tightened up the trem screws in the back. This is just another way of doing what you recommended and worked perfectly for me. Thanks again - I do my best to share your set up tips AND your fabulous harmonies wherever I can :-) And I'm going to start saying 'screws' the way you say it in English, it's much better. "Skew" :-)

I place thickness of business cards under rear of unit in having unit flush with body !! I then forward unit tad until slight slack in strings where I then cut all the strings !! Bring unit back down on business cards, and remove strings !! Install new strings, tune up, stretch strings, tune up, , and remove cards !! Fine tune !!

I have a Gotoh Floyd rose.Since the top of the body is not routed,I put a Cd under the Tremolo and set it up that way .It works beautifully ! Only one issue,the tuning is great(I intonated it ).The issue is it cannot be made parallel to the body ,it leans slightly foward.Even if I tighten the spring screws all the way ,it will not pull the tremolo to the body(which would be parallel).I put 5 springs on it to increase the pulling tension.Other than that ,I am very happy .Thank You so much!!!

holy crap dude thank you to the 15th power!!!!! I really was about to just give up on my ibanez after putting pickups in and restringing it. It wouldn't go back and I followed everything on this vid and now its in a tuning I wanted it to be in, Eb standard. THANKS SO MUCH THIS IS SO HELPFUL!!!!!

@somuchdirt74 Well, this is useful everytime you change the strings.If you change them with the same identical strings of the same gauge model and brand you do not need to tighten the bolt. Hold the tremolo in position with the piece of wood, release the strings then proceed like shown in the vid.

@2J5D4 Adding springs n the back will harden the tremolo arm movement and reduce the undesired detuning of the other strings while bending.

@breakthebars If what you experience is unstability in the parallel position you just have to replace the floyd pivots and tremolo and have the tremolo baseplate blades sharpened.

Hello, nice tip about tightening screws of spring holder. I have not seen much, if any, videos with this process on YT and I have learned this fast way by myself some time ago. With this tip, there is even no need of fine tuners mostly. Some Japanese brands also uses string tightener bar on the headstock next to locking nut. This really helps for staying in tune. That was just by the way... I am only missing here just setting the perfect string action (heigh). maybe later. =) Thx for video.

@aidyanimal Yes the Gotoh and the Orignal are stell. The other are different materials fited with steel knife edges. The Steel is brighter sounding I recommend this with hotter pickups.

Great video! I got around the issue of using different gauge strings by blocking the back of the tremolo so it won't pull back (isn't floating) and then tightening the screws. This was I can still dive on the bar but when I restring I have no issues at all with getting it balanced

@aidyanimal, actually yes. It is just a matter of how knifes and posts are sharpened and the bridge is installed. Tone could be different though.

@sledx999 You have to adjust the strings retainer placed after the locking nut properly. Lower it using its two bolts bu be careful to use a scredriver that PERFECTLY matches them. The problem will disappear.

Good looking out Mr Frudua! I bough a killer Dime O' Flame Guitar a lil' over 3 wks ago I wasn't happy with the stock set up. I saw you video, simply followed your instructions step by step and like 30 minutes later I was shredding some harmonic minor scales and bending the sh*t out of my wammy and DIDN'T go out of tune!!! F*ck yeah!!! I only had like 10 mins max to play after I set it up because it was pretty late I was just about to crash but I instantly fell in love with my new Axe and set-up

@RevilationGuitar91 The most of string's losing tuning is at the tuners and some at the bridge. What matters to you is the portion of strings vibrating after the locking nut is blacked and if you force to stretch you just ruin it's windings and it's tone.

I've got a Peavey Predator EXP Plus which has a Floyd Rose (FR) Tremelo. I burst a string on it about ten years ago. Been too scared to fix it myself until now, that is!

@carlosss931 Try this: measure witha caliber the heigh of the middle and neck pickup so you know what it was. Then try lowering the neck and middle pickup a lot. Check if sustain improved: If i is start raising the pickups till the sound is ok for you but no as much as they were before.

@Danlirious You just need to do a little or no streching here because stretching affects the settling of the portion of strings not playing (beynd the nut around the tunig gears and beyond the saddles) but there the strings are blocked just right over there.

@olidude7 You can stretch if you wish before going fo the final tuning. It just adds one step but its ok. By stretching them you will break it now and not during a gig and this is good, I support this, but in your case I am conviced they were originally defective.

@2J5D4 the springs are already there if you have a floyd or vibrato strat. they keep the tension the other way from the pull of the strings, enabling the 'float' of the bridge
