This video is now highly useful since Oculus Link is coming out in November.

But you can mod Beat Saber with the Oculus Home version. I have a heavily modded version of Oculus Home Beat Saber.

This Video helped me so much Mike. I just added my Oculus Rift to my GTX 1050ti on my HP i5 3.1Ghz cpu and it works perfectly. Yeah using that Try tool will really makes it easy for my friends to find RecRoom when I invite them over to play in the same game. .......... You see I have been getting people to play in the same 3D games since the D.O.S. years in 1987 playing Duke Nuke'm 3D and DOOM 3D using a RG12 coalex wires with terminal ends on the end computers in a line configuration using Novell IPX/SPX protocol. I was self taught also reading books and experimenting to get it to work. So it's normal for me to get this stuff to all work together now.

You can play modded tracks on the oculus version of beat saber, it doesn't have to be the steam version.

Hi ! why not launch steam games straight from oculus home, i find it more confortable. Just tick the unknown sources and after go to your library tab and import all non oculus vr games, the steam vr doesn't need a setup just leave it default and only do the setup for oculus(sensors , heitght etc)

Yeah Mike, I have the Rift and the Odyssey+. I like the way you presented your video on how to do this I still may do it. What I did was: I first used the Odyssey + for month, bought "Space Pirate Trainer" at Microsoft to test it, loaded STEAM VR in flat screen mode and next in VR at the Microsoft Cliff House..... I used Microsoft's Explorer Screen to start "Steam VR", while in Steam VR Home...... I loaded "RecRoom", "The Lab", "Google Earth"also bought "Together VR" in Steam, so far I only bought 2 games. Next I opened up the Oculus Rift package from Amazon set up 2 sensors and started loading the free games I played Robo Recall it was fun still need to try out others.. I was able to use the Rift Explorer screen and start up RecRoom after changing the ok to let other 3rd party programs to run from the flat screen interface, so now I can run RecRoom in Oculus....the Oculus has a left screen on the console screens that lets you pick other games you've tried before, it's not as good as the way you set it up. I can start Steam via the Rift's Explorer Screen so it works. I ordered ceiling hooks to help get rid of the cables I may also order a 3rd sensor depends on which one I use the Rift or Samsung Odyssey+. Thanks again for this great video to teach others the right way to do it and happy to see your Rift is now working once again. -> P.S. RecRoom highly addictive I've racked up more then 72 hours alone in it. I can't wait to go back for more fun.. there it has a 95% likes of players playing it.

Great video !! Would love an update on the whole pin window thing also..i hear a lot saying it does not work anymore..when i pin a window, it crashes after a few sec, plus i can only pin a monitor, you cant pull out a window anymore :-(

I've recently needed to restore my pc and thus had to reinstall oculus and all of its drivers. However, this fresh install, and likely just updated drivers, allowed me to run steamvr from my oculus library without needing ott. I'm only thinking of reinstalling ott for the supersampling.

These are great for new Rifters. Would love to see an updated mixed realty for Rìft. All the tutorials out there are so outdated and it can be maddenìng.

Ok I understand that this video is a year old but the Oculus tray tool is out of date. It says error 404. I also use a rift s instead of a rift is this any different?

are you planning to do a video of how to set up the htc trackers while using the oculus rift for full body tracking and some troubleshooting if we run into any issues.

a few updates have been done on the trade tool but not to much but to add SteamVR to the menu its a tab

GOT DAMN thats alotta steps. But im sure itll be worth it. I have a steam vr game i havent even opened even one single time cuz of the annoyance of starting it outside of the headset. Its also why I never took advantage of the steamvr sales. I cant wait to go home and try this.

okay so if your dealing with this and your like me watching this a year later you click library, then there is a advanced filter there then you click vr and the it shows tools and under there is steam 360 and steamvr

Good to the point guide. However, I think you should have also included info about the settings to change in Steam VR to disable the dynamic super sampling and reprojection. These have been known to cause issues for Rift users for a long time since they conflict with ASW and decrease performance in games. Also, something I've had trouble with for a long time and never have been able to figure out is using desktop view via Oculus Dash while in Steam VR. I open the window and it just closes after a few seconds. I've never been able to figure out why, but I've resorted to just trying to use OpenComposite to avoid Steam VR all together.

I have a rift s and I can't get through the steam VR setup screen. It thinks my headset is off??? I have updated drives and turned on unknown sources ( I found simply restarting the computer works ) they should make this obvious during setup...

Awesome Mike, Always good to get a refresher on this, I've got 4 sensors and my play area is always optimal on rift setup but I've never been able to complete roomscale setup on steam vr only the basic vr setup, I'd imagine this is as the vive needs a bigger playspace

With the oculus link, and with my friend getting steam VR to work with the quest, I think it may work with my oculus quest.

My problem is that my G27 driving wheel goes completely offline the moment oculus home launches. I can't use the wheel at all while in vr mode in any of my driving games on steam. Is there a workaround or a setting that may work ???

To be clear, in game super sampling is a multiplier of the Tray tool super sampling setting. I suggest "stacked" would imply it is in addition to the tray tool. Excerpt from the manual below defines it this way. Super Sampling values acts as a multiplier. This means that if the game run natively at 1.0x then all is good, but if it runs at for example 1.2, and you choose a new value of 1.5, you will in reality get 1.5*1.2 = 1.8.

Had oculus cv1 2years soon and saw this now :-) just saw the 2017 version before and figured it was dated as i can play stesm games with steam vr beta, thanks. I guess this will remove the question if i want to run games in oculus or steam mode? Still I don't understand why oculus and steam habe their own room calibration settings (ok chaperone i get, same same but different). Which one works the best would you say? If i move a sensor i need to recalibrate oculus, and i guess also steam? (Have totally forgotten to re-do the steam setup each time i have moved my sensors, and have had imerse issues with floor distance but oculus calibration and "quick calibrate" in steam of solves that, but for some reason even in my 3 sensor environment my hands track better in oculus with the spray paint tool vs whem gaming in Steam so I guess i should run all games in oculus compability mode?? For sure, its a bit of a mess when using rift 3 sensors and switching back and forth not really knowing what affects, but the tray tool I will try if nothing else for the audio fallback (no need to change in the task bar any more wohooo) thanks

Oculus tray tool fixed a lot of problems I was having with Beat Saber frame drops.

Hey, I have a inateck usb hub but can't change the fresco registry tweaks.

Q: WIll the Rift S work with steam? Becuase the rift s'es sensor is its camera at the headseat and it uses that method for room tracking, will that still work on steam or will it only work with oculus home?

I was able to do all that without the Oculus Tray Tool. Adding Steam VR and Steam games to Oculus Library was simple enough on its own.

You can actually import shortcuts to separate Steam VR games directly in Oculus home Library view using Oculus Tray Tool.
