Here is a great method many people use to shorten the super long tongue on the Adidas Samba Classic sneakers. After a week or so of wearing the sneakers you'll forget you ever made the adjustment.
Wow, this video has just given a life line to a pair of biker's boots that I bought over ten years ago ! Now, I'm not a biker but I was drawn to shop selling these Harley Davidson boots for less than half the original price. Beautiful boots, right size, and I couldn't leave them alone, so I bought them. Found out later that I had no clue how to manage the extra long tongues on the shoes so, I wore them a handful of times and packed them away for charity or someone else. After watching this video, I was able to fold the tongues away nicely and neatly. Unbelievable, but I feel like I have a brand new pair of shoes ! Very many thanks to you, kind sir !
@DannyTimes I wear my tongue outside of my bottom pants leg front opening inseam. it looks ok kinda inconspicuous unless you're looking for it. I find this the best way. it bothers me before it's a unique look 🔎🕵♂️👟👟
Make use of that long tongue! Run the laces through the lace locks (that second set of holes below the top holes), fold the tongue over the top of your shoe, then tie the laces over the folded tongue to secure it. Twist the lace loops and tag ends and tuck them underneath the tongue. This prevents them from coming untied from physical activity. The rounded crease from the folded over tongue feels more comfortable against the top of your ankle than the skinny edge of the single ply tongue.
Got some Samba Super on the way and was wondering about this - and now I know. Great to see comments confirming how well it works too. Ordered half a size up so should have plenty room to play with. Thanks for the hack 😁👍
Smart fix! I’ve owned my Sambas for over five years, but I never kept them in my regular rotation simply because I hated how the tongue would poke out over my pant leg. I always figured there must be a trick but didn’t bother to research it until now. Thanks!

Fantastic! Just followed your hack, and it worked like a charm! Although, I think the tongue looks more natural if you go up FOUR lace holes before lacing through the tongue. Perfect length. 👌🏼

Thanks, Danny -- worked like a charm, I still feel the difference but you said it yourself, it'll take some time for them to properly mold themselves to my feet I didn't particularly mind the long tongue when I got the Classics but I preferred having my pant leg covering it rather than have it hang freely, I think the lower profile look works better so I was lucky to find your video Again, thanks a lot!
@@roheee8 Stopped noticing pretty quicly; I also bought another pair of Sambas recently and did this trick the night before I wore them for the first time and I gotta say, I was comfortable
Cool fix for the long Samba Classic tongue! I’ve applied your “fix.” Now the real test, for me, will be to wear them while I’m out and about and hope that the bunching up of the tongue will not blister the top of my big toes. Fingers crossed!
Thanks , that was helpful. I plan to use shoe trees to hold and hopefully make permanent the crease at the bottom while I’m not wearing the Sambas. Good job.Dannjy.
This is a cool hack for going out, for those who already own the long-tongue classic. There is a short-tongue version of the classic (not og, same price as long-tongue classic). The tongue isn't ribbed though and some of them squeak. The squeaking tongue can be fixed pretty easily (ultra-fine sandpaper), and you won't have bunched up fabric in your shoe.

Thanks for sharing this video. Do you know any online store where I can purchase original Adidas Samba Classic? It's no longer available in our country. I asked every Adidas store in malls, they said it's phase out.

@@edzmuda6870 how are you supposed to twist the lace loops, tag ends and tuck them underneath the tongue when the laces are tied above the folded tongue?
I wish they'd bring the Samba K's back, the ones made from kangaroo leather. The leather was way more durable and the tongue was leather and could easily fold over. The only reason why I only had one pair was that the sole wore out and they discontinued them for some reason
Oh, I DID do this instead of cutting them at the line with the skate version. It really does help with board feel. Literally depending on whether or not I left the bearing spacers in my bearings.
Just bought the classics as they cost 45€ and I am not ready to spend 120€ on the OG just for a colourway and a shorter tongue... This video made me even happier I did so
Hello, I have a question I bought Samba, but my tongue is diffrent I have the Samba performance (019000) Is this especially for football, while the og is for the street?
Yes, the classics and your 019000 have a more thicker suede outlayer for football which makes it more durable than the og. The og are used for casual wear and are said to be more "comfortable" but its not as durable as the classics and the 019000 like you mentioned, also these are also great for casual wear too
