1. Expand your vocabulary by consuming contents that . Use more concise words. 2. Think before you speak. You may take small pauses. Do not use filler words (uhm, ah, like, etc.). 3. Do not swearing & slang. 4. Be mindful. 5. Speak with clarity. 6. Be confident in your demeanor. Learn to laugh at yourself. Go with the flow. 7. Learn how to end a conversation with a proper execution. (You don't need an excuse to leave a conversation.) Smile, shake hands, and say something like, "So nice to see you, I'm looking forward the next time we talk, bye!"

I like to save my swears/cursing for emergency or very serious situations so people know when I really mean it. Swearing all the time waters them down.
@purelovexist

Emily hahaha like saying I love you all the time? I used to think that and save my I love you for only special and rare moments. Now I know different. I can say I love you everyday and multiple times a day to my husband and still mean it. The problem is when we are using swear words every day as a slang and actually meaning it too. I used to hate when people swear because for me was really strong words and then I got used to the English language and swearing was not that strong to my ears anymore and I started doing it. I believe the only way to eliminate it from my daily life is to eliminate it completely and going back to the way I was never swearing it, although I did used the word shit* that one felt safe enough. Maybe I go back to it and say shoot instead until I can eliminate from my life forever 😇 one can dream right 🤷🏻‍♀️

When I was a younger woman we were good friends with a retired couple, he was quite deaf. He was very good at lip reading. That made us think about our conversation. We would face him, talk slowly, be concise. He was an educated, intelligent man, we did not need to talk down to him, we just needed to be mindful of how we were communicating. Thanks for all your helpful tips.

This is a great topic. On expanding vocabulary: one of the things my husband and I do every evening together is read the word of the day on the Merriam Webster site. One of us will read it and if its a word we don't know we'll try to guess what it means. We're both really into literature.

It's okay. We are all guilty of gossiping! It gets easier and you don't have to participate in gossip. Anytime someone is gossiping around you and you can't get out of it just smile a nod. Nod as in you respect the person and are listening to them but just know you won't be nodding as in your accepting the gossiping. You never want gossip to come back on you. ❤️

This is why I love your channel. You don't limit femininity to outer appearance. You're teaching young ladies how to be better people, not just better looking. Btw, you don't talk weird. We sometimes forget that American English is very different from other countries. Your speaking voice is lovely.

I have seen this is other comments as well, but the way you say “conversation” and some other words seems to be a Canadian dialect. I’ve noticed a similar way of speaking from Sarah Therese here on RU-vid! I don’t think you’re pronouncing words incorrectly, just in a different way than what some people are used to! I love your content, and always find it uplifting and encouraging! Thank you for sharing! 💛

I do have this thing I do from time to time that is linked to my anxiety that I am so self conscious about. Essentially, when speaking my jaw tends to sometimes spasm out of nowhere and causes me to fumble on my words. I sometimes cry about it because I feel as though it makes me appear unintelligent and I have no way of controlling it. It happens unexpectedly.

I am your international audience :) and I totally appreciate the distinctive way you speak! I was spending my holiday with American "friends" who didn't bother to speak clearly and that was a nightmare :( I live and work in international environment and people put an effort out here to communicate effectively, so I do believe that trying to find a common language is not only ladylike, it's humanlike :) great to have your channel here on RU-vid!

I like how you said you speak the way you do INTENTIONALLY. It reminds me of my mentor saying to do things with intention. It’s not wandering away from being your real self, but doing something that adds value to yourself and others. Adds value to you because you’re intentions are clearer to others’ eyes and add value to others by helping them like you said-international viewers find it delightful to learn English by listening to you.

I work as an Agent (Call Center) and I can confirm this. I think talking "Lady Like" improves conversations overall, people understand your words better, they get less mad at you (even though they were mad at first) and it makes the work just easier.

That’s really wonderful advice! I realize we tend to change language and the way we communicate to adapt to company. Such as when you have a date with an intelligent man vs when talking to a “homegirl” It’s good and bad, I feel sometimes having to adapt to situations keeps me from growing my communication skills.

What you said about speaking to children in baby-talk is so true. I'm a babysitter and I've worked with all kinds of children including children who have severe mental and physical handicaps and have learned that they actually respond better when you DON'T speak to them like they're babies. Obviously don't speak to them like they're adults or even teenagers, but don't treat them like they're babies or toddlers! This was a great video, thank you Mrs Midwest!

Wow I'm early, I do enjoy your videos about femininity especially the things you can develop internally and not just what you wear or observe from the outside. I love the video, "How to Speak Femininely" and happy that you have uploaded a new video about speech. I don't mind your pronunciation from the other video, and I just want to learn more about the tone of the voice. I think it would be helpful to have a video in the future on some exercises about adjusting the vocal tone.

As an elegant lady, I'm not 100% there...since English is my third language, I tend to use basics expression and it makes me feel behind, knowing that I impeccably speak my other languages. I like your channel. Thanks for keeping at it. There isn’t a lot of good homemaker content, so thanks for your contributions.
