How to tell which version Dualsense BDM-010 or BDM-020 you have 

The rose one looks really nice, loads of colours look good. The standard Sony red what they brought out 2 months ago I keep meaning to buy, I've got the black but would like the red also. I did a video installing the back buttons and digital triggers all in one if you check my other video before this one. You won't brake anything, but would have been a lot easier if you fitted the triggers and the back buttons at the same time. If you've managed to install the back buttons on your own, you'll have no issues. A few people came into errors but was because they didn't have the ribbon cables in correctly, not much can go wrong. I'm guessing it's CoD you play or some kind of FPS game?

When you say cover swap do you mean just turn a white controller black? Appreciate the support man 😁

Somebody said they tried doing it without putting the R1 R2 ribbons cables in that's provided and didn't work, I can't comment as I've never tried without changing them, for the sake of the minute or so how long it takes to change them you might as well. But if you do try without them let me know if the kit worked, be good to hear 👍

The ribbon cables what came with the rise kit, do they have any writing on them saying 010 or 020? Do they look as if they've been cut. Oh and another thing the 010 has black ribbon cables where the 020 has white

I don't think there's a way of telling which version it is, there's a 10 20 and 30 now. I normally don't cut the 10 or 20 parts, I just fold them over in case I want to swap the kit to another pad. Yeah they'll send you a spare couple of ribbons if you ask

You can use the kit on a 10 and 20, but now they've released a 30, which you need a seperate kit

@@CraigsChannel how about touchpad cable? It's brown version which soldered. Also there are white version which come with removeable cable.

I wish I knew that before making the video, somebody else mentioned it. I've still not managed to find a 020 yet, been looking and looking

@@CraigsChannel Is that just the remap setup? Because I'm more interested in the LGB buttons. Hopefully all the shell covers won't be affected and they can take the warning off those too.

@@Arkesus Yeah its for the back button kit, I haven't tried to fit the LED kit to an 020 if that's what you mean? My LED pad is just for show, when I play I don't have lights on, but I know loads of people on my channel love them

If you pop R1 and L2 out, if the screws are silver it's a 020 and if they're black 010. With you having a galaxy purple pad I'm 99.9% it'll be a 020

Are you wanting the BDM-030? The new way to tell is my pressing L2 or R2, if you look inside all 3 models are different. Extremerate added a photo on Amazon showing you how to tell each one

Is your controller definitely a 010? When you removed the 4 screws to open the pad were they silver or black? If they were black it's the 010. It just sound like you've not got the ribbons fully pressed in place if you're using the right ones for your model

@@CraigsChannel black. And I did this 2 times before without any problems. So I was confused to why this was happening all of a sudden on two of the same model controllers. They message me back and will be Sending me extra ribbons. So I'll just try those and see what happens.

Normally it's just people not pushing the ribbons in, or putting the ribbons the wrong way around, if you check through the comments on the back button kits quite a few people have thought they put the ribbons in the right way only to realise its the wrong way... No biggy just worth double and triple checking, it's an easy mistake. Let me know how you get on either way

There's a new little way to tell now, you can press L2 or R2 and they're all different inside, Sony for some reason have released a BDM-010 020 030 and 040

Yeah I'm always here to reply 😁 If you check the back of your pad, you can tell if its a 010 or 020 by the serial number. I've got newer videos that explain a little more. Another way is if you pop out the L1 and R1 buttons, if your screws are silver it's a 020 and black 020

You can tell the version my simply pressing L2 or R2 now, if you check on Amazon extremerate have a photo to show you which version is which, hope that helps

I don't know how true that is! I'm 99% they use the same analog sticks on both models, the only difference is the boards changed a little and they've swapped the ribbon cables from green to white

So the way to tell now is by pressing either L2 or R2. Extremerate have a photo online to show you which version you have when you press that down, they now have a BDM-010 020 030 and 040

if it has a smaller but also capital "B" CFI-ZCT1W B and on the smaller many letters says: CONTAL PY: 2023-05-I-0322 IC: 409B-CFIZCT1B F43900EL714127170 MADE IN CHINA IFT S2SOCF23-19666 ANATEL: 08316-20--06223 ???

Also, i done the picture check with the triggers and my buttons have the spring like the bdm-30 but have the little a next to serial number so now im triple confused 😂

Is it the back button kit you're after? The 30s are only in the brand new PS5 so you must have been one of the lucky ones to get one. I don't know anybody who's tried fitting a back button kit to the 30, it might work but I wouldn't like to say for certain. The only way would be to try? If it doesn't work send the kit back. I remember when the 20 version came out and extremerate had to make new ribbon cables so the kit worked on both 10 and 20

There's a new way to tell, press down L2 or R2, if you see a tiny spring it's a BDM-030, if it doesn't its a 10 or 20. On Amazon extremerate have a photo showing how to tell by pressing them buttons

This is an older video now David, I did a newer one to this to explain but since then they've released the 30 version, no idea what they've changed as the chips and analog sticks look the same! I've only had maybe 1 or 2 people on the channel say they've bought a brand new PS5 and got the 30 version

It's cool, like I say it's so hard to keep up with them always bringing out new versions. I know if you remove R1 your screw is black for a 10 and silver for a 20, that's a super easy way, but as you mentioned the new way is to press R2 and refer to a photo showing all three versions 😁

@@snapmisc6404 They've changed a few things round, so the back button kit you'd need to 20 version as the 10 doesn't work on it. My first back button video was on the 10, but I've just done one on the 20 around a week ago

If you aren't interested in doing any mods to your pad, there isn't any difference. It's just people who want to mod, if you've seen any of my other videos on the channel I show how to change the colour of the pad, digital triggers, button etc. That's the whole reason I did this video as people come here for controller content 😄

You could always buy another pad? Drop extremerate a message if yours is 020 they'll buy it from you. I can't say 100% if the 020 doesn't work as I've never tried and only found one person with one

They've said they haven't tried the kit on a 020, as they haven't managed to get their hands on one yet. They've opened 1000 pads and all 010. A person commented saying they have a 020 and wouldn't work! So to keep themselves safe, eXtremerates have just said the kit only works with 010. Me and you have the 010 version on ours that's how it works. That's why I went out and bought a brand new pad to see if I could find a 020 but no luck 😄 You online? I'll be on in like 20mins

Yup no 020 here either. I've had to walk people through issues they've had, lately it seems people haven't been plugging the battery connector in properly

What I’ve noticed frequently is people not being careful with the piece under the motherboard, either pulling on it (tearing it) or not getting it down all the way. Appreciate the videos you make, super helpful!

I've been meaning to get a new video up for the past couple of days but been full of busy. The back of the pad definitely says if it's a 010 or 020. There's a newer way I've found which is below the code on another code, also the screws the first 4 you remove are silver on the 020. I'll get the video up hopefully tomorrow so you know what I mean. I bought a new Pink pad which is the 020, it took me a while to get a 020 as all my previous pads were 010s

It's not out of date so to speak, we've just all learnt newer ways of finding out which pads which. Like I say I've got plenty other videos, this one's not really a popular one, the main ones are the back buttons or them digital triggers, the back buttons are super popular, dunno why Sony don't release some kind of kit they'd make so much money

If you pop the L1 or R1 what colour are the screws? Black = 010 silver = 020 I'm not sure about the 30 as they're brand new

@@CraigsChannel they are silver. I’m starting to wonder if I have 030 but I bought this ps5 over a year ago. I just finished trying to install a kit to bdm 020 but it turned out to not line up. Bdm 010 would have lined up better but I’ve already cut the thing 🫤 if they still plug in would it still have an affect?

If they're silver 100% it's a 20. The 30 only just came out, so if it's a year old it's definitely a 20. So if you've cut the 10 bits off that's fine

If you look on the back of the pad where the serial number is, there should be a little star * at the end if you see the letter A, after the start so *A its a 020

There's a few ways to tell since this video. If you check your serial number on the bottom of the back that's another way. Also if you pop out either R1 or R2 the screws are silver on a 020

Is it just one side not working or both? If it's going solid red that's remap mode, then you've done it right by holding back left and O for 3 seconds so it flashes, then hold the button again to exit. Have you tried remaping another button or even back left to L2?

@@CraigsChannel i tried l1 r1 and nothing.. i cant remap any button.. red light flashes when i try so i dont know whats wrong

@@DzO90 If you ask extremerate they'll more than likely ask you to remove the main ribbon cable you sandwich between the board, to remove that that double check it's fit lined up. If you want their email or maybe message them on Twitter? Info@extremerate.com I'd personally try seeing if all the ribbons are in place, it'll be a simple fix for you, just sucks it didn't work first time

@@CraigsChannel i instaled clicky triggers and click front beside back button and that works great.. yesterday i disconneted all wiress and connected them again and same... do left and right ribbon go alot inside on battery or just little then close with that pin?

@@DzO90 do you mean the bit that sticks on top of the battery where you lift the catch and close it? If so you can kind of feel and see the cables when they push in

If you've got a 30 they'll be releasing the back button kit for it in the next week or two, or you could buy another controller from the shop and hope its a 010 or 020 🤞

@@CraigsChannel aye it’s a 030 mate. Is there not a kit to fit it? The code was on the back of the motherboard.

@@gnasher_86 the kit for the 30 should be released in the next week or two, they've been meaning to get it out but it's the Chinese new year so a little bit behind, I'm sure they said 29th they'll be back

They've worked on a new cable so you'll he able to fit it to a 020 but not sure when they're releasing it to the public, hopefully very very soon! I've not found a 020 only a 010

@@CraigsChannel No-sireee! my buddy whos had his ps5 for forever has not 1, but TWO 010's i checked em the other night when i wanted to change the faceplate (long story short i had a camo ps4 controller and now Regular white/black or w.e controllers bore me, i even have a Gears of war/Halo XB1 controller) and i found extremerate on amazon.. i thought ah chances are mine's gonna be 010... i got home this afternoon and was sorely upset when i found out it was a 020.. my buddy doesnt care with aesthetics as long as it works so he's willing to trade me one of his 010's for my 020, Btw do you know whats so much "better" about the 020's vs 010's?

They upgraded a couple of things inside the board and made the springs stronger. The 010 springs where snapping, easy fixed, I made a video on that a while ago. I was looking all over for a 020 at one point because they were so hard to find, all the pads I had were 010 but needed the 020 for an install video on the back buttons. My friend had the green camo Dualshock 4, looked really good. I've still got a few of my DS4 controllers but they're gathering dust, along with the Xbox Series pad. Hope you have a smooth install of the new faceplate 👍
