Hi! I suddenly have multiple little acnes and pimples. Maybe stress or the oils I eat in my salad. Idk. I have this Salicylic but is it going to help reduce them?
@MelissaVanDijkOfficial
@MelissaVanDijkOfficial 11 месяцев назад
Well, it depends on what's causing these little pimples in the first place. Since when do you have these pimples and since when are you using SA? What else do you use? It's best to figure out the root cause to 'cure' it in the most effective way. However, yes, Salicylic Acid, Benzoyl Peroxide, or Retinol should help to reduce/lessen pimples, but it also depends on which ingredient your skin reacts to the best.

Hello Melissa, hope you will read this. I'm a man and new in the skincare since a week. I bought a cerave foaming cleanser, the ordinary nmf, the ordinary salycilic mask and the ordinary niaciname 10% + zinc. After washing my face with the cleanser my face is a little bit dry. But after using the nmf with 3 drops of the niacinamid its ok. Until now i used the mask one time and think it was fine with my skin. My Problem is at the chin and mouth. There are often whiteheads in my beard. Do you think i could use the 2% salycilic acid serum there to handle these? If i would use the mask i couldnt wash it off and i think once a week would be to less for these whiteheads 😢 hopefully you could give me an advise.
@MelissaVanDijkOfficial
@MelissaVanDijkOfficial Год назад
Hey :) Yes, the salicylic acid serum would be perfect for this and may yield good results. However, it's important to note that results can vary. Personally, I have had the best experience with a Benzoyl Peroxide spot treatment (2,5-5%). I only apply it to the whiteheads/breakouts as it tends to work quicker, which better suits my needs.

@MelissaVanDijkOfficial
@MelissaVanDijkOfficial Год назад
@@svu6656 Well, the skin may feel dry immediately after cleansing, but usually, it should regain its balance fairly quickly. However, you could indeed use a Hyaluronic Acid serum in between or mix it with your moisturizer. Alternatively, Niacinamide is another option you could consider. There are many possibilities to explore, so just experiment and see what feels best on your skin. :)

@MelissaVanDijkOfficial
@MelissaVanDijkOfficial 7 месяцев назад
Maybe for a few days, yes. 😉 But no, this is too potent since you are essentially using three exfoliating acid products in the same routine. This exposes the skin to a significant amount of acids, which can lead to irritation and sensitivities over time. So, I would suggest using either the AHA BHA Toner or the SA solution. If you already have both, consider alternating them, perhaps daily, if you tolerate it well. Additionally, I recommend using sunscreen during the daytime and the moisturizer only in the evening. Otherwise, it may be too much, especially if you also use the snail cream during the day, since you are already using the snail mucin and then the hydrating sunscreen.

Salicylic Acid and/or Niacinamide may help to reduce acne marks/acne. However, if your acne comes from internal factors such as inflammation due to stress, lack of sleep, or dietary issues, then these treatments likely won't be effective (for acne itself) because they don't target the root cause. Yes, mixing them can influence the pH of the formulation, leading to reduced efficiency of Niacinamide and possibly Salicylic Acid (SA) as well. Therefore, you should apply them in layers, one after the other. Apply SA and wait a couple of minutes before applying the Niacinamide serum.

Hey! 😊 How your skin heals after acne depends on the type of acne, whether you squeeze them out, and your skin/genetics. This also determines how fast your acne/acne scars are going to heal. Experiencing flaky skin doesn't necessarily mean that your skin is dry, as your skin goes through cycles and oil/sweat production isn't consistent across the entire body-that's natural. So, why don't you try using nothing at all and just leave your skin alone? Instead, focus on improving your lifestyle, diet, and stress/mental health! Also, if you have really deep acne scars, it's probably best to see a dermatologist for specific treatments, as topical skincare products likely won't do much. Hey! 😊 What else do you use with The Ordinary Salicylic Acid Solution? How often do you use it? How severe is your acne, and have you noticed any reduction in breakouts? In general, treatments like salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, retinol/retinoids, clindamycin, etc., can help reduce acne. However, it's important to understand that these are treatments rather than cures. To effectively treat acne, it's necessary to identify the root cause and address it. If the cause is genetic, finding a complete cure may be challenging. However, by determining which ingredient your skin responds well to, you can potentially experience a significant reduction in acne breakouts.

Still, how often you can use The Ordinary's Salicylic Acid Solution depends on your skin tolerance. Start with once per day, 2-3 times per week, and adjust the frequency over time. I noticed you applied this under your eyes so I did the same. My under eye is so dry and darker. Did it thin my skin? The difference between my under eye area and yours is that you have no bags. I think you should mention that when you give instructions. Had someone said to not apply under eye, I would not have. It’s so confusing when directions on bottle say do not get in contact of eye. I assume that means, do not our IN the and if so flush it out. I watched your video and did the same you did. I only used this once. Did my under eye thin out?
@MelissaVanDijkOfficial
@MelissaVanDijkOfficial 7 месяцев назад
Generally, if you've noticed your under-eye skin becoming dry and darker after just one use, it's possible that your skin is sensitive to this product. While salicylic acid doesn't typically thin the skin with a single use, it can cause irritation or dryness that might make the skin appear thinner or more delicate, especially if you are sensitive to the product. However, I did not apply it under the eyes and advised avoiding the eye area. The product instructions do not specifically mention this, but I know that these acids can easily cause irritation when applied near the eyes, which is why I said to avoid the eye area.

If you don't experience any problems during that time, it's likely that you tolerate the product well and rinsing it off is unnecessary.

No, it's a leave-on exfoliant, which means that you leave it on the skin. However, it wouldn't be wrong to use it as a mask as well. 😊

Don't you use a moisturiser after applying the salicylic acid?
@MelissaVanDijkOfficial
@MelissaVanDijkOfficial 2 месяца назад
It's not needed - unless you have dry skin/experience dryness.

Google said Daily usage of SA increase the chance of absorption through the skin and the chance of salicylic acid poisoning. Is it true????
@MelissaVanDijkOfficial
@MelissaVanDijkOfficial 2 месяца назад
Yes, daily use of salicylic acid can increase the chance of absorption through the skin, potentially leading to salicylic acid poisoning. However, with normal concentrations available on the market, typically around 2% (or less), this is generally not a concern. At these concentrations, salicylic acid is considered safe for regular use when applied appropriately and in moderation.

@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial thank you very much for your valuable replay.I have asked many RU-vidrs this question in the comments. No one answered except you. Not only mine, but also viewers' questions have not been answered. But you answered everyone. Wish you all the best.

@@sanoojmanjaly Yeah, well, you have to understand that for the majority, it's just a business. So, most of the time, people are only valuable if they are profitable, which means that answering questions is not profitable; therefore, hardly anyone cares. 😞 Anyway, I'm glad I could help.

Hi Melissa, Whenever I use this product, I get small cut wounds on my hands and a slight appearance of blood. Is this normal?
@MelissaVanDijkOfficial
@MelissaVanDijkOfficial Месяц назад
No, that's not normal! Do you get them on your face as well?

@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial Yes, although not very regularly. Once, I used 4 drops and spread it all over the face, and the sides of my cheekbones became red and a burning sensation occurred. I didn't use it for one day and used 1 drop the next day. There was no problem. Then, when I went to another city, I could not use the product. Now, when I returned home and used it again, I saw a small wound on my hand and wanted to write about it.

@@berkeuysal1096 Okay, so you are probably using too much of it and/or using it too often. However, if the issue persists, I recommend stopping its use altogether. What are your specific skin concerns? Are you using any other products?

@@MelissaVanDijkOfficialI have black spots on my nose and my cheeks, around my face, forehead etc. are porous. First, I use La Roche cleansing gel, then I use The Ordinary's salicylic acid and niacinamide, then Garnier moisturizer and i use La Roche's sunscreen. Actually, I don't use salicylic acid very much. I was using it once a day, I don't know. I'll try it for a week and see if I get the same results, I'll stop.
