Ty's energy is just so wonderful and infectious, agree with everyone who wants to see more of him! Walnut gives the best contrast from the shots we saw, and I can definitely imagine people being interested in splurging on one accent panel that fits right in with their normal panels. Unrelated: does Wyrmwood keep the scraps of cool things like the ends off the panels? Feel like that'd be a cool grab-bag or giveaway type item.

As long as the bees aren't harmed when collecting the honey, I am totally pro bee rent. There is a demand for honey/beeswax which means that there will be need to be a supply of it to fill that demand, which in turn means more bees. It's a Win/Win/Win situation for all parties involved. The consumers get their honey, the apiarist/beekeeper gets a source of income, and the bees get shelter and the continued effort to ensure survival of their species.

Also as a side note, any vegan that refuses to eat honey but eats things like avocados are eating bee products, as avocados require domesticated bees to produce. I believe this also applies to a handful of nuts and other fruits and veges too, although I believe it's not impossible to grow these without bees, I've heard it's pretty hard and almost always uses domesticated bees. EDIT: I shouldn't say they require domesticated bees specifically, any bee will suffice, but they pretty much always use domesticated bees

@davidjennings2179 Год назад
@@GylenSenpai The bees don't pollinate avocado for themselves, they just collect the nectar and pollination happens as a by product. Honey is the bee's end goal. I'm not a vegan, just saying I respect them sticking to their guns on it.

Somebody needs to tell Doug that he was using the wrong type of blade in the vertical bandsaw. Not only does it need to be sharp and the table/fence/blade need to be square to each other, the blade itself should be 3 or 4 (max) teeth per inch and as wide as that bandsaw could handle (probably 3/4" for that model). It looked like he was using a blade with a much higher TPI count (12-14?). The thicker the material, the fewer TPI you should use to cut. They needed to use a resaw blade, because the deep gullets and fewer teeth help clear the wood out of the cut.

@LabTech41
@LabTech41 Год назад
It's not even a question of exploiting the bees: I've seen enough beekeeper channels to know that going into those old combs and removing them for newer combs is part of keeping the hive clean and healthy; regardless of the honey, the wax being replaced over time is just part of doing hive maintenance. The way I see it, the bees giving up a portion of their honey and wax is just a cost of doing business, and the return for that cost is that the bees have the keeper looking out for them and vastly increasing their odds of survival.
@stephenhurley4296
@stephenhurley4296 Год назад
the bees are free to leave and will swarm and move out if the hive is not being well cared for. if Bees are still in your hive it is because they have chosen to stay there.
@LabTech41
@LabTech41 Год назад
@@stephenhurley4296 Exactly, so clearly what the beekeepers are doing, such as removing old comb and thus the honey/wax, are clearly doing something preferable to nature, seeing as to my knowledge no hive has ever abandoned a keeper's care. Not unless they're somehow doing a disastrous job of it. I mean, bees have been around longer than the dinosaurs; if they're here despite you taking a portion of their products, who are we to judge them? Saying that this is anything like abuse or exploitation just strikes me as the kind of smug arrogance that encompasses vegan ideology.
@twiggy.327

bees are one of the only species that humans keep for food that actively choose to remain in places where humans harvest from them, they could literally just fly away if they wanted to
@HonestAuntyElle

Actually the queen's tend to be trapped, not sure if it's because they would escape, or if it's just to keep the food side and the breeding side seperate so we don't accidentally kill their kids.
@T3hXinro
@T3hXinro Год назад
@@HonestAuntyElle Queens can leave, and when a hive grows so large that it splits into new colonies, they'll take a young queen with them to establish the new hive. Unfortunately splitting is dangerous for bees because there's no guarantee that they'll find a safe new home and part of why we harvest honey is to prevent them from having to leave. Good beekeepers can harvest with very few deaths, where in splitting, half or more often die.
@HonestAuntyElle

Legitimately, bees are fine with honey and wax being taken, as they see beekeepers as almost eldritch gods to give offering to, and in return they’re blessed with a prosperous hive. Bees can leave to find a new hive whenever they want if they feel the beekeeper and amenities are inadequate. Bees are totally fine with us taking honey

First things first, I agree with Doug I think ya’ll should go with the black walnut. Secondly. I’ve been researching d&d models and setups the past month or so because I’ve never played and would like to one day, anyway I ran across the wyrmwood channel from the MGT video and the hexagonal Dice Tower video and then for the past week or so I’ve binged every video from this channel and I just caught up today for the new episode and I fucking love it. Wyrmwood is a phenomenal company and you guys look like you have so much fun designing and coming up with new concepts for your products, I grew up with a carpenter/contractor as a father so it’s so cool watching wyrmlife and seeing how you construct and design all your products. Thirdly, I was hoping I could purchase a class of the month for July because my birthday was this month but haven’t seen anything about the class of the month for July, will there be a July’s class of the month or is it already out and Im overlooking it.

Most vegans, who are so for ethical reasons, make exceptions for bee related products as supporting the bee industry is (usually*****) very important. Tried and True still isn't vegan but I doubt it would prevent possible sales. (Feel free to correct me on this) *do your own research on which bee things to buy but preferably from local beekeepers. Skip the bear bottle stuff as it usually isn't very ethically produced. Sauce: I make mead and spent a decent chunk of time looking this stuff up when sourcing.

make versions where the core is the pattern ply. Less processing (less cuts as 1 slab per sandwich) and I think it'll look better in the groove as it won't be so intense. Can even optimize the patterns so you don't have to do pattern ply the whole way through and just roughly where it would show
