The only thing that concerns me is the possible fire hazard in the trailers. A hot metal Box filled with dry wood and sawdust.
@ooohspookyghost8400
@ooohspookyghost8400 2 года назад
Only thought that was on my mind with hot dry wood being turned to dust. I'd be worried about fire from the machine, from the piping and from friction of all that woodchip rubbing on itself and aerated sawdust. I'm hoping they have proper procedure in place to make sure that trailer gets emptied regularly and there's a way to check how full it is without opening before it gets clogged up.

@ronnie3044
@ronnie3044 2 года назад
It shouldnt get hot enough for the wood to catch fire. iirc it would need to be over 300f constant for hours to start to char and I believe over 400f for a good amount of time for it to ignite. The trailer isnt sealed so theres ventilation. Not to mention the huge amount of air that will be going through when the machine is actually on. These are pretty common so im sure the people that set it up knew it was safe.

Speaking from experience in the wood industry 1. It is possible to get more money back if you try selling the wood chips to a pellet factory or a plywood manufacturer 2. That vacuum system needs to be swapped to a conveyor system that drops into open top trailers might be a better system 3. Pouring all those blocks of wood in at the same time will definitely cause problems. Need to limit how much is put in at a time.

@PS-cu2cv
@PS-cu2cv 2 года назад
Gonna be honest, that wood is the sort of stuff you can glue up and turn on a lathe, or a carver can make wood spoons and spadulas out of, or glue into butcherblock cutting boards. Grinding it up like they are is just... a total waste. Like, theres no way they couldnt find buyers for 24x24 boxs of wood scraps that are that big. Hell, I've got pieces of scrap wood I've kept around for years when I did woodworking more often because its good wood!
@Beoron

This has come up before on wormwood videos re: the waste topic, and everytime the less wasteful 'solution' isn't a solution because it doesn't get rid of the scraps fast enough. On-site salesman that handles scrap based solely on commission. It works, but maybe only in a few settings. Bulk 50lb bags, get what you get, no refunds. No sorting. Fill and sell. Really have to watch the buggers because they'll side deal and sort the good stuff and make the company store the crap scrap.
