Great review, Josh. Sounds like a great laptop and one I would have purchased had it not been an HP laptop. I owned an HP that had a low audio issue that I could never get resolved. And I wasn't the only one complaining to HP about the audio issues in their laptops.
@@Shrek-sg3jq ok?...he said HP killed it this year. That means they put out great products. The HP omen desktop is not great. Nowhere did I say anything about buying them. I'm literally just stating the OMEN desktop is garbage, which seconds your comment about prebuilts being bad...

Bought the laptop! A truly amazing computer however i got the 4600h version. It works perfectly fine but the 8 core 4800h is most likely worth the upgrade. NOTE that I bought the wrong version and got the 60hz panel. DO NOT BUY. The 144hz panel is so much better and the laptop feels so much more snappy and smooth. I was close on buying the intel version of this laptop, interesting how they perform worse than amd but cost alot more haha. GO AMD. GO OMEN!
Have you tested the monitor's sRGB and nits? I heard the lower panel shipped with the 4600H is not as advertised and is only 60-70% sRGB and 200 something nits. Your feedback would be appreciated.
Hey Josh, Im so happy to hear i made the right decision buying this laptop. This Omen has being doing wonders for me, As well as you I also ended up buying the 16 ram 1 tb model but with student deals combined with best buy deals, I payed a whopping $1049 + tax, which was so worth it considering my budget as a college student. Im so happy i came across this computer at the perfect time!! I really enjoyed the video and Im happy to hear your channel is growing with your hard work keep it up!

No. You should consider the ROG Zephyrus G14 instead! The display for that model of omen is really bad and has only 55-60% of sRGB coverage. On the other hand, the G14 has 100% sRGB coverage and has an overall better display. You should spend the extra 5k and buy the G14 over the omen becuase it is a better laptop overall. Also, consider buying offline as you might get better deals. P.S. The G14 also has a 120 Hz display. The response times could have been better but it's still much better than 60 Hz.
@@blackcat6309 not really,first of all rog zephyrus g14 is for creators and is overpriced for gaming option you get a 1650ti for 97k on that laptop without anime matrix and on the other hand the ryzen 5 4600h with 1660ti and 60hz screen is roughly 84k and the 144hz version will be coming out around 15th September for 1,00,000 which i think is fair
I’ve had an HP Omen (Ryzen 4800H + GTX 1660 Ti) for about a month now and have been very impressed. I purchased mine on Best Buy for $850 for the 500G SSD / 8Gig Ram model. I then bought an extra TB SSD and a 16G DDR4 Ram @3200MHZ for it, so overall cost was just about $1100.00. This is just a very good all around laptop and it games really wellwith no throttling issues. I play Boarder lands 3 @100FPS, yes on “low” settings but it looks good regardless due to the higher frame rate. For a bit of reference, I have a desktop with an I7-8700K@4.8 O/C - EVGA FTW3 GTX 1080Ti@2025MHZ - 16GB DDR4 Ram@3600MHZ - 2.5 TB SSD’s - EVGA Gold rated 850W PSU. Yes, of course the desktop runs games better( running 1440 P - 165HZ monitors) but the HP Omen is regardless a very solid and capable machine for the money, probably won’t disappoint all but the most demanding of gamers. AAA games at 1080P / 60FPS+ is the typical story here. No I wouldn’t buy it to play CyberPunk 2077.... but that game is not the norm as it even gives my desktop w/ I7-8700K + 1080Ti a difficult time.

Sounds like you had a significantly better experience with your OMENs than I did. I'll share my experience in hopes that it helps someone that's thinking about picking one up. I bought mine in December 2020 directly from HP. The bottom 1/3 of the touchpad didn't work at all and would cause the cursor to jump around. HP's support was so terrible that I got escalated to the office of the CEO and they had to issue a refund/replacement. This was mid January 2021. When I got the replacement unit in mid February 2021 , there was a new touchpad issue; it wasn't mounted in the case properly and shifted around when you tapped it. It took another month dealing with a different escalations team to get a refund going. After many missed contacts and broken promises to call me from the sales team, I gave up. The OMEN would have been great if not for dealing with HP support. I wanted to like it, and I really wanted it to work out. If you manage to get one that works properly out of the box, go for it. If you have to deal with HP support, you're going to have a bad time. I ended up picking up an MSI GE75 Raider from Costco. Sure, it's heavier and louder. And it's got an Intel i7 instead of the AMD Ryzen that I originally wanted. But the laptop just works and is free of manufacturing defects. That, and not having to deal with HP support, make it worth it for me.

Thank you for posting the "Underside of Chassis" temperatures! Half the time I use my "lap"top on my "lap" and it ticks me off when a reviewer never mentions this key detail.
@@amartyajagdhari8241 I'm a product design student and it works great for me. Only disadvantage is the color accuracy for creative professionals, it's good for normal usage. This is a great competitor to Zephyrus G14, which is great but kinda overpriced. And thermals are significantly better, G14 runs hot. Go for it, Ryzen 5 + 1660 Ti is a solid combo. It's sleek, lightweight and portable, most compact 15 inch gaming device.

I recently bought a dell inspiron 5505 with a 4500u (also comes with 4700u) and a 512gb ssd. The screen is also quite decent while it is va dell claims it has 300 nits and 72% ntsc. I chose it over the ideapad 5 15 because the dell looks alot more premium while still being a similar price in the UK. I think you should review this laptop as I cant really find any reviews on it.

I kinda regret not being able to buy this while on Labor day sale. I at least was able to get a Legion 5 but it is heavier than this with less battery. Edit: Regret gone, there is a defect in some omens covered by @code husky
I'm 7 months late, but code husky finds defects on every single laptop, including the Legion 5. There's no laptop on the planet that isn't going to have defective units
I bought this while watching reviews for all the other popular laptops. I was waiting for the big reviewers to post theirs but I couldn't take it any longer so I pulled the trigger a few weeks ago. I am super happy with it overall and it is indeed a beast of a machine. My only complaint was the screen dimming randomly and I found that I could turn that off in the Radeon Settings Lite program by switching off VariBright.

I bought this laptop, but with the i7-10750H, RTX 2060 and the 300 Hz display, it was a wonderful laptop. I ended up returning it because it had almost 0 battery life while web browsing and well, I really really want a Ryzen 4000 laptop.
I believe this does support Thunderbolt 3, not only is it advertised as doing so but there is the thunderbolt symbol next to the usb-c port of your unit. Ryzen can support thunderbolt 3, it is just there are not many options for it right now. If not it would be misadvertising.
10:00 and I'm out. Laptops with desktop replacement performance absolutely must have USB-C with Power Deliver, Display Port, and at least 10 Gbps; preferably Thunderbolt, for docking. It seems Dell, Razer, and Lenovo are the only ones that understand this. Dell and Lenovo both have docks that technically break spec and will supply up to 125W of power, plenty for a machine like this.
I have the HP-15-dc1058wm and am very pleased with it's performance. The battery life leaves something to be desired but overall it is a very good gaming laptop.
Have had this laptop for less than 6 months, it began making an annoying 'ticking' or clicking sound any time it was powered up. Contacted HP, they said it was most likely the fan and that I should send it in for a repair under warranty. that was on Nov. 15th. I was informed today that they earliest I was likely to get it back was Jan 29th of 2021!! So, terrible construction/quality control (develops problem less than 6 months in), and terrible customer service (takes 2.5 months to get a simple, small repair performed). Also, the fan randomly spins WAY up under non-load conditions (just browsing the web) and is super loud. I will never trust or purchase HP products again. Buyers beware, do NOT buy this laptop!
