The bike is a one kicker, now that Duncan actually worked on my bike. I have picked up all my bikes from Larry. I got tired of him charging for work he never did as he called my bikes "pieces of shit". Good way to treat ones best customer.
+David Swick I prefer to show the real, The good, the Bad and the Ugly. No such thing as every bike starts perfect every time, especially if the kicker did not do the mechanic's himself, which in this case I did not and as with most mechanic's, they do as little as possible and charge as much as possible.
Yes, it takes a real man to post his failure simply because he loves his motorcycle so much. I have never been able to master the Enfield kick-starting procedure, so I know how frustrating it can be. Thankfully I have put those shitty bikes behind me and ride a self-starting Harley.
Love bobbers. Been building and riding since early 60s. Every time I bought a swing arm, I ended up cutting it up. Pushing 70 and I still am on rigid bobbers with jockey. Clean, no nonsense bikes.
Great lookin bike, I’m really wanting to do a Frankenstein bike parts from 1954, 1957 and 1980 because those were the years me and my parents were born. It’d be a family tribute bike that I think would be such a fun project to do before my parents pass away. They’re both battling cancer at the moment and I think it’d be such a great thing for all of us to create a vision and see it all come together. Great bike! 🤘🏼😎🤘🏼
This bike really caught my eye . Built "56 Pan with " 54 wishbone frame and " 48 springer . Black with just little bit of chrome. One time 3 am after bar closed , she didn't want to fire up . So I took off distributor cap and cleaned the points . She fired right up . Every now and then same thing . Sold her to a man in Germany 1991 . Miss her . Thanks for posting thinkin of riding again .
Watch part 2. This is what happens when your mechanic takes your money but doesn't work on your bike. Don't go to Larry Sittles in Harbor City California
@@Ryansanders80 Pearl Harbor happened on December 7th, 1941, but the United States did not officially declare war on the Japanese Empire until December 11th.
We was in the war before that...just not officially. We were cranking out military supplies for the British to use against Germany. So we really joined the war long before...we just weren't firing shots yet . If your supplying a country with war material to use on another country you are pretty much in the war one way or another
Been there. Once got stuck at gas station for about 30 minutes trying to kick my FX to life; of course I flooded it, used some salty language and then, quite suddenly, it roared to life. This happened during a hot and humid July evening. Normally, though, 3 or 4 kicks and things were shaking and thumping. Life is good.
That was great . I loved the " 36 ca chunks later" . That was me ! Oh fuck, if I could go back again I swear I would never get pissed and push the bike over (ha) .
I did, the mechanic who did the build had the pleasure of having all my bikes removed from his shop. Larry Settle was the mechanic. I took it to another mechanic and the bike was redone correctly. There is another video on this machine.
I know the feeling, have a 54. changed the Linkert to S&S, total different routine. miss the Linkert. kicked so much my right leg is twice the size of my left. in the middle of my last rebuild now, at 56 kicking not as easy as it used to be, but just as rewarding.
so wanted it to start but dont really care cos it was so beautiful to look at, a bit like a beauty queen youll look at it all day knowing your never gonna get to ride it lol
the gratest bike out of all the bikes i have ever seen in my whole life! I have dyna with evo 80 but your bike is really true. with love from bloody russia
+ russ bonnett that depends on what country your from. The war as far as an actual declaration of war, did not start with the United States until after the bombing of Pearl Harbor December 7th 1941. The US declared war n Japan the next day and shortly thereafter Germany declared war on the USA. That said, the USA had been sending everything but men to Europe to air in their war, without serial numbers, since 1938.

It started Sept 1st 1939 we entered it Dec 8th 1941 and Germany declared war on the United states 3 days later.
It looks like you have an El Camino swap meet shirt on, and you mentioned something about the long beach swap meet to. I used to go to both of those, i go to long beach for the car one though, im getting into old harleys, have any good swap meets or shows in the south bay?
one of my top three favorites from your videos. So am I correct in thinking you go out and find all these bikes and then rebuild them ? Are you a collector or do you also sell them ? I'd be curious to know what something like this is worth but I have a feeling it's kind of like that saying goes"if you gotta ask you can't afford it ! "lol...anyways great vids, one day i will have a bike like one of these
D Nelski There are three ways to look at this. 1936 to 1964 transmission's will bolt up behind any year Big Twin motor from those years with the only possible alteration being the transmission lid needing to be changed between a foot shift to hand shift model. The STYLE of the transmission case with little alteration was used from 1936 to 1954, well into the Panhead era. Then, for the purist, the guy who has to have the right trans, right frame and right motor combination, EVERY year was a tiny bit different in some way.
in part my unfamiliarity with this particular bike and in part the tuner. This was not a Duncan Keller tune up but a Larry Suttle Tune up. I think I will have Duncan fine tune it
if the mechanic who built the machine for me had done his job, it would of started easily. I had another go through the machine, again, and then she started and ran fine. There are other videos of this on the channel
I'm going to Larry's in the morning just to tell him about how winded I got watching you start your bike. Sweet looking Knuckle. Most of the time that happens when a hot looking girl is around.
I would have had my plugs out by the tenth kick, checked point gap; assuming gas is getting to the bowl and carb is working right. Maybe water in the gas?
+HuntingHarleys Gotcha, I'm planning a major bobber transformation on a 96' sportster. Starting to gather up notes on parts now. :) Great looking bike by the way. I've gotten quite a lot of inspiration from it. Keeping my Evo and Baker 6spd, but looking to transform everything else.
As I understand, a "Bob Job" (bobber) was stock frame with bobbed fenders and all other non-essential appurtenences removed for a very spartan machine. Bobbers were originally intended for hill climb competitions, but ended being cool looking road scoots. When the bobbers got frames raked, they then became "Chop Jobs" (choppers), since the frames needed to be cut and rewelded in order to achieve the intended rake of the front forks. You have a raked frame. Looks to me that you have a chopper, not a bobber. I know, most people assume choppers have long super extended front forks, but not all choppers are that radical.
Some time after I made this video. I found some documentation , as in a magazine article, detailed how to properly chop your motorcycle. Then it showed how they and where to, cut your fenders to properly chop it. Dated roughly 1953 or 54 if I recall and I suspect somewhere on the channel as a video. I am familiar with the early cut downs. These were what you referenced as "bobbers". They were popular around 1925-26 up to the mid 30s. When exactly bobber 1st started in terminology, year wise, I cannot say. However, the early look of mid 30's through late 40's, people called them bobber's, or least the old school guys who schooled me did, west coast San Fernando Valley. So, basically, both terms are probably far older then we realized.
I remember the old 1970s Dave Mann paintings won't start. the bike is a nice slice of history nice sled man how much. I want to buy it if its still up for grabs.
i have a 1948 flathead and a 1963 pan. each bike has it's own procedure and i follow them with a start on the first kick if my gas and chock is set right for cold starts.
There is something beautiful about a kick start but I don’t miss it, man6 times my leathers would be wet like scuba gear kicking over my 68 Boneville chopper kick start
