I’m a bit disappointed Chuck... I’ve watched many of your videos because you generally give a true test of a product or procedure, but with the hydroblox you didn’t... why not put it in the ground and see what it will do...?

Could it be used instead of gravel in the trench?

Chuck why not a 12 x 12 catch basin & silicone caulk ?

Maybe you could use a dovetail? Somewhere to lock them together? My concern would be that cutting could heat enough to melt them at the joints creating impermeable surfaces. I just saw these today for the first time and wasn’t sure what they could be good for, seems like trash to me as long as people buy it and use it it’s not considered landfill garbage but a little bit of landfill spread across everybody’s yard

Have you ever seen a hydroblox install? I've been wondering about that stuff since I heard about it about a month ago.

I’ve installed Hydroblox in my yard , I don’t recommend it , it does work but u need about 3 planks width to drain enough water fast enough . That gets pricey fast lol

I think it needs to be wrapped in The gardening felt material. The stuff you wrap your French drain in 👍

I'm curious... Hydroblox has me thinking... Why do we use pipe with little cloggable holes in it? Why not just use something like a smaller version of a milk crate, with mesh around it? A trench is really the most effective way to move water, but you are stuck with the large hole in your lawn. All you really need to do is make a trench with material that will support the weight. French drains have the weight distributed via the gravel. Hydroblox supports the weight by the vertical positioning like you mentioned, and being relatively dense. Why not make a strong mesh covered plastic crate that positions like a hydrblox. If you drained it to daylight, I'd have to imagine it would be cheap and easy to install and have the fastest and quickest draining... It would be pretty cheap to make as well.

Trying to catch debris at the top of a catch basin is kind of backwards thinking in my opinion.

Don’t make fun of the Turf management degree. I have one from the University of Arkansas 😂😂😂 Yes...it’s a real thing. And who knew ppl could be so serious about growing grass! Actually the degree in compasses* a lot of other fields of study too. Like soils and understanding how water moves in them. Interesting stuff...some of it! *Encompasses (for the grammar nazis)

B&B Drainage Solutions.. many years ago when I was in Columbus Ohio, one of the kids working for me achieved a degree in that field. He later move to England working as the grounds superintendent for PGA golf courses in Great Britain

Apple Drains yes sir. That is the goal for most who get the degree. The golf side, and greens construction, never really interested me! I know Purdue has the nationals leading turf management program. Pretty big deal there too

Using hydroblox as a drainage grate is a bad idea, it'll have a lower flow rate and can back up the draining water.

I looked at this it's INSANELY expensive. like 10 bucks a foot.

Confused........ You say it is good for a football field because of it's strength alone but then you say other than that there is no application for Hydroblox. Anyone owning a football field will not invest in this product for strength alone. Can you do a video to elaborate on this instead of wasting time on it's application for a catch basin filter?
