Brilliant tutorial! Its great to see there are still some technicians out there who actually diagnose and troubleshoot to actually find the fault and not just waste customers money throwing parts at the problem and hoping it fixes the issue.
WELL DONE. I followed all the steps for Hyundai Accent 2017, I only cleaned it and it's working better. Thanks, you're helping alot of people. am one of them. THANKS
Code P0017 here... I do oil changes every 5000 kilometers religiously on her car. Tested the solenoid and it clicks/actuates just like the intake side. Sensors are good. Car drive fine only have a very slight idle drop/jump when stopped... not sure what else to do other then replace the solenoid...
You could have a faulty VVT but never had one yet failed. I would recommend to check your timing alignment ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ayXuTXN5vJw.html
2017 Hyundai Elantra 2.0 engine. Dealership is saying it's a broken dowel pin. Check engine code is P0017 and P0014. I checked the exhaust and intake Oil Control Valves, changed camshaft and crankshaft position sensors. Light still on but car drives smooth. If it's the dowel pin why is my car still driving smooth for 4 months? Should the engine have seized by now?
Send me the vin number to check exactly what engine and spec are on it. I had issues with loosen crankshaft bolt causing the dowel pin to deform and shift position of the gear vs crankshaft and throwing p0017, p0016 and p0014 faults and engine was still running ok, due to variable timing still being able to compensate. How did they checked that dowel pin?
Question, hopefully you’re still active on this video. I have a 2018 Hyundai Elantra, 165,000miles. I’ve had the P0420 code for almost a year but it’s drove fine. 2 shops told me these engines are common for that code and replacing the whole catalytic assembly may not fix the problem. Yesterday it started sputtering in idle and cuts off when braked. Since I hit the 100,000 mile mark on this car it’s been burning my oil roughly 2000 miles unfortunately. Bad engine lol. I replaced plugs and coils not even 40,000 miles ago so I’m not ruling those out yet but I think it’s gonna end up being the catalytic converter. Current codes is P0420 and P0017 I guess my question is, what do you think could help fix this? Unless replacing the whole assembly may be the best option?
P0017 will make engine not run properly and unburned fuel will end up in your cat and it will destroy it. I would do a indepth diagnostic of timing, vvt solenoids, oil level and if all ok, I would see live data for the up and down stream o2 sensors and an emission test will tell you if cat is gone
Do you still reply.... so my son's girlfriend just bought a 2013 hyundai elantra coupe. Maybe 4 weeks ago and to day the engine light came on and code is the p0017. I did pull both of the sensors intake and exhaust and checked them like in this video. They both seem to work flawlessly. Whats my next couple of steps. I also checked the oil level it looked good as well. Ive never messed with a hyundai before, im more of a LS guy. Much help would be appreciated. Thanks
I've tested both solenoids using battery and they're working fine. I replaced the exhaust solenoid valve anyway but still getting p0017. I checked the diagnostic, and the EX Cam position changes but gets stuck intermittently. (Majority of the time it's stuck). Any advice please?
Great info here I change my 2011 position crank sensor under the car , next to starter . The car start up better n stronger but last week it did the trouble starting again once . Crank ok yesterday. Am wondering if I need to change da VVT, ABOVE NEXT TO ALTERNATOR, N INTAKE CRANK SENSOR NEXT TO DA PCV. WHAT IS NAME OF DA SENSOR OPPOSITE SIDE OF DA VVT.
Hey thank you so much for your video i have a Elantra 2019 engine light is on but the car shaking only when I’m on highway about that every is fine i scanned and it code P0017 crankshaft-camshaft correlation i don’t know if i must change the sensor or timing belt in this case
Had the same code and symptoms with pork. Acceleration and car would turn off periodically at lights. Replace both intake and exhaust and check engine light came on 2 minutes after car restarted and reading the same code again. What else would it be?
I have a 2017 Hyundai Elantra…car keeps cutting off on me when I stop constantly. Says I need to change the oil control valve and I have a po0017 cold coming about the crankshaft position b….if I change the oil control valves and buy new crankshaft sensors will this fix the car???
Me saying yes without you checking what I did on video would not be a good thing. Do the checks in the video and report your findings and I am happy to assist
*i have code p0014 and i already replaced full timing chain brand new, new vvt solenoid, new oil pump, swapped whole exhaust camshaft with gear, changed new oil and oil filter, and still code keeps coming up... HELP!!*
Should i change the oil control valve ? My car shakes only on the first start up kind of like a jerk then the rpm goes to the number 2 then returns to regular i have a code p0017 a mechanic quoted me 900$ in labor cost because he said he needs to take out half the engine so confusing
Hi mate. I have same problem on intake p0016. As intake cam angle value is not changing but scope pattern is ok, i was panic. Actuator tested on intake oil control valve working ok. Oil level was very low and sludged. Wondering why cam angle not reading because of ocv? Cam keep spins so should read angle value.
Cam is spinning, but does not changes the position relatively to the crankshaft. Low oil level, blocked oil path, or even sticky actuator under pressure or temperature can cause issues.
Thanks for reply, as hyundai tech I'm still learning :). You know the dowel pin to cam phaser sometimes snaps off. In that case, cam angle desired position and actual angle wouldn't match up I think?
In my case, desired and actual angle match up but not changing at all. It works randomly only short time and go static. Most of time, won't change at all.
Hyundai Canada won't do.this asked them to clean the valves low on oil coming back from BC Hyundai Canada said you have to pay for diagnostic when I have all the codes. I replaced the crankshaft sensor and half hour diagnostic. Oh we have to charge you another hour.
You can do this diag yourself, I haev another video where you can check the chain manually ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-i2VO-s11l1k.html and once you have confirmed you can do the repairs yourself, or ask them to do it.
@@GicaPhp they are giving me the runaround. It's the p0017 code crankshaft position sensor B exhaust. Partsource read originally it was the crankshaft sensor ironically the light came off yesterday when driving to come back on yesterday Evening
2012 Hyundai Accent P0017 Changed oil, Using Genuine Hyundai parts Replaced 39180-2B000 crankshaft position sensor, replaced Both camshaft position sensors 39350-2B030, as well as both Variable Valve timing solenoids. Engine improved idle, no more stalling. However code P0017 comes right back. Any ideas?
I’ve worked for Hyundai as a tech for about 4 years if you’ve done all that and still have the p001700 more than likely a the dowl pin for your exhaust cam phaser sheared off it’s very common on this engine unfortunately that means replacing your phaser on the exhaust cam and rebuilding the timing a lot of time I even recommend replacing the whole cam and phaser
@@GicaPhp Thanks for reply anyway, appreciate your vids. I'm having a hell of a time with my 2012 Veloster. I rebuilt the engine, spun a rod bearing. Idles just a little rough and gets worse as RPM goes up. I ordered picoscope to see cam crank timing, I have P0017, 0014 and 0011. Sensors and VVT solenoids appear ok. I liked the Launch because it gives desired and actual cam degrees.
I have elantra 2012 with same code P0017 when i diagnosed with obd it says Camshaft deviation is too low. What needs to be done ? I have really a poor milage especially these days high price of gas 😣
@@GicaPhp I wire checked both on mine and they were working properly.. I’m trying the camshaft position sensor when it comes in.. frustrating how it starts no problem but stalls right after.. unless it’s first thing in the morning, then it starts right up then starts idling weird and THEN stalls after 5-10 mins
Hi how are you ? I am in need of help . I got so many things fixed on my car and I can’t figure out the problem. My check engine light is on been on for months . But when I check the codes I am getting P0017 crank shaft but beginning of February I got the crank and camshaft fixed and got my throttle body cleaned . But I keep having the same problem when my car is stopped the idle goes up and down and then it jerks then the car shuts off . Sometimes when I mess with air controls it messes with it . When I put my car in neutral sometimes it stops not always .
@@sarashifflett5473 Ok, let's start fresh. Just ask the mechanic to see live data, and read the actual and desired oil control valves for both intake and exhaust camshaft for movement.
