I’m A Bit Underwhelmed By This Episode | “Hall of Mare-ers” Review + Analysis

The issue of just letting Sparky do what he want being a problem down the line could very likely be a good setup for another episode about the limits of parenting.

I don't know if this will change your view on the song or the episode, but is something that needs to be expressed. The cahpter starts in the fun house maze, a place meant to be lost in for fun, is secure, there is a way out, and the song fits because, yes they are lost, in a place where is fun to be lost. The second part of the episode, Hitch and Sparky are in the sewers, a place not meant to be explored by common people, and certaily a more dangerous one (But it's one of the cleanest sewers I ever seen), the song fits there for obvious reason, but the way they are lost is different and more serious from the maze. I understand if you didn't like the episode, but I think this piece of information is to be consider at least to make it more understandable.

So, when I started watching this episode prior to when your special fan made episode was almost done, I didn't expect for this episode to be different or getting a meh aside from the second episode of Season 2 of Tell your Tale, but I realized is that not every episodes is gonna turn out perfect, but that doesn't mean that some upcoming episodes would never lose it's touch on creative and wonderful episodes (not by a long shot). I have no doubt that by giving it some time, the upcoming episodes of Tell Your Tale would come up quite as amazing as its previous magnificent episodes/specials (looking at you Blocky-Wocky). Also, I will say that the interaction between Sunny and Hitch is definitely a nice touch, especially with Sparky around. Anyways, best of luck on your next upcoming projects.👍

I agree with the criticisms of where the song was placed, but I did like the song. It’s my second favorite out of the batch of unreleased songs we got a while back (First place being Allura’s song) because how different the vibe is. The music and vocal performances do well to present a feeling of disorientation and unease. Which leads us into the weird placement, as they aren’t really lost or in danger when they sing the song the first time. They are just in the fun house. It’s weird. Speaking of the fun house the magic reflections provide nice visuals. Sunny’s Nightmare Moon costume, changing ages, alicorn Hitch was fun to see (hunky Hitch was just weird to me. I’m sure Faolan love it though ) and probably the most astonishing adult Sparky (Now I know Faolan is going to love that! In fact he has ). It looks good. Nothing all that wild in terms of a design, but seeing it at all is surprising. Here’s hoping the little drake does physically grow as the series goes on. Which leads us to the mane focus, Papa Hitch (woohoo ). Always nice to see him in the spotlight. Seeing Sparky grown up in the mirror appears to be what instigated Hitch’s parent sense to dial up. It’s hard for parents to see their kid (or pet sometimes) as anything other than “Their little one” and want to protect them, or at least be there to make sure nothing bad happens. I can vouch for that, at least in terms of pet owning. It took me a while to let our dogs go out in the yard without a leash. Seeing Hitch recognize he has to let Sparky “spread his wings” and later do just that with the final room shows he is trying loosening the reigns on Sparky (even if only bit by bit) and how he has faith in his son. PS Seeing him acting as a pillow for Sparky was just cute. On to the other party, Sunny, seeing these two foalhood friends pal around will never not be nice and their final scene with Sparky was adorable. With the location, it is nice that we get to see more of the Boardtrot with the mirrors and the puzzle room. Even if said puzzle was really simple. I was think the gems had to be touched in a certain order. Having to do all of them at once seems a bit too easy for the finale. At the end of the day, this episode really is just light, fun fluff with cute moments and a bit of character for the trying Best Pony Dragon Dad. Not amazing, but not unenjoyable for me either. Definitely a middle of the road episode.

I enjoyed this episode. It teaches great Parenting. Hoof to heart my good friends. You too Hawk Nightwing.

I agree some parts of this episode was like wow and some... were head scratching.

That's a Future Sparky

If you want me to be honest...I find this one underrated. No big winner and people should be honest about what they didn't enjoy about it, but the overwhelmingly negative reaction I saw this episode get on EQD SHOCKED me. I didn't like the episode jumping straight into them being lost in the funhouse, like a lot of people, but Sunny, Hitch, and Sparky were all great in this one and the song was a bop. We're just being tough on it because it broke the streak of bangers we were getting.

My favourite part of the episode was the song L.O.S.T what was so good, I think I'll do a remix of it in the future

I respect your opinion on this episode, to me I thought this was a fun episode, while there are a couple of flaws I may have with the episode, but it was a fun episode overall, plus the Lost song really slaps! ^_^

I understand the problems some can have with the episode, but I personally still really enjoyed it for the other reasons you mentioned. The song was a little unfitting, but still nice to listen to on it's own. Sparky and Hitch's bonding moment in the sewer was just precious and the fun house was a very unique setting. I know compared to the last two episodes it's nothing really special and that can be off putting sometimes. but I don't think that's a big problem as long as an episode still has enough good qualities to it, which this one did in my opinion.

This episode isn't so much bad as boring, IMO. Having said that, the MC Escher-inspired visuals at the start were quite amusing.

Honesty is the best policy. I still liked the episode though. Hoof to Heart, Hawk!

It felt like we were thrown into a story midways instead of begining on one, i had no idea where they were, or how they came there, thoug the Hole episode, and thuse i dident know if there were stags or not, it felt like i was suppose to Think that when they were seperated, but i just dident know enough to be sure, then when they finaly came out, we still dident find out what the place they had been in was, so to me this was a bad episode, because i dident know what was going on, or how i was soppuse to weiw what i saw on screan, on top of it fealing like a filer episode, because i dident fell like the charekters progrest in any way thoug the episode. PS: now your telling me they were just in a fun house, and not in any danger at all, now i just fell manipulatet.

I guess you think this Episode is not as disappointing like the Heavy Fruit Crown Episode. Because S2 E2 is just Magic Solving The Character's Problems.

I can kinda agree. Not much interesting happens but it’s not terrible. Just kinda feels like filler.

This episode and the 2024 CRC Brackleen 150 at Pocono Raceway have one thing in common: it happened and no one remembers what happened. And I do agree with the song choice. It just doesn’t make sense. Like, Sunny and Hitch aren’t in a dire situation, they’re just happily wandering around in an unknown area.

This episode is decent to me but it does need reworking, like if they were genuinely lost in the fun house.

To me, the best part about this episode is Sparky. Funny that I was on the side of hating him, at one point. He's really begun to feel like more his own character, lately, apparently thanks to how fast dragons age. To bring up the discussion again about the moral, it definitely could have used more reason in the episode itself. I tried to interpret that Hitch's overprotectiveness was validated when Sparky almost fell into that pit under the disappearing platforms. But well, that didn't happen. *Besides,* Sparky may not be invincible as proven by Missing the Mark and onwards, but my most hated episode of Make Your Mark made Sparky out to be pretty invincible when his curiosity *did* get the better of him. Maybe a mirror to that episode could have worked better for the moral. As I said about this episode on your community post, and my thoughts on Emotional Rollercoaster, this show could use more out of civilization adventures, which would not only be potentially fun and fantastical, but offer a better setting for certain morals like this one.

Yeah, this was kind of an underwhelming episode. Gigachad/mewing Hitch was super funny though.

Yeah...the 'Lost' song seems a bit misfit to me, and compared to previous ones, this ep was ok, still got laughs from the alt versions of Sunny , Hitch and Sparky, I specially loved grown up Sparky, chad Hitch and Nightmare Sunny 🙂

This episode was boring. Where are the rest of the Mane 5? Why it's only Hitch and Sparky? I thought when I heard the song first time when it leaked they where going on a hike and they get lost in the forest like in Sunny Day Dinner. I wasn't expecting that they where just in some kind of escape room game? So they where just lost in the game they where not really lost? The only good part I liked about the episode is best pony Sunny Starscout I didn't care for Hitch and Sparky I don't care for Hitch episodes but the rest of the episode could have been better if Pipp, Izzy and the whole Mane 5 where in the episode and they get actually get lost in a trip! The episode was okay could have been a worse episode if not for Sunny Starscout but Sparkys Sick and Day Of The Life of a Princess are still worse episodes in my opinion! And why we still haven't got Sprout or Comet or Destiny and the seaponies and dragons? The writers of Tell Your Tale are just wasting stories on the same characters all over again they forget about the new characters? I wish I where a writer for G5 so I can focus more on the other new characters and put Sprout in TYT. Why is Joshua Graham so expensive why they can't hire him to do Sprout in TYT? I am going to make sure I include Sprout and the dragons and new characters in my Technologyland MLP G5 RU-vid series.
