Yeah, so. This is the story of how I accidentally asked out a MUCH younger man, with a little ditty about dating, love, and solid relationships when you've over 50. Not quite joining Cougartown yet.

Yes, great story to hear - even for this 65-year-old widow! Where there’s life, there’s hope.

Excellent! If your kids have the slightest notion about any possible suitor for you then that's a great start. The powers of SoCal need you to stay here!!😂

When I was single in my 40s I dated tons of guys in their 20s. They were so much fun! However when it came to being serious I still ended up with a 10 years younger than me guy. All the men my age were divorced and kind of bitter. I could tell such stories! Love is out there and it may be a younger man, or woman!!

I find it interesting how many men won’t hesitate for a second to date someone that much younger than them. My stepmother is 22 years younger than my father. My brother is in a 5 year relationship with someone 30 years younger! (Obvious pattern here?) He’s 66 years old and is wealthy. I really like his GF but have to question her motives because he is not an easy person to be around. As I type this they are on vacation in Fiji.

Love the story! Thanks for sharing. One day there will appear a person that will hit the mark. The kids will like them, the pups will like them....who knows, you may even find yourself hanging out with this person in an apartment in NY!

Thank you for a great sotory! I am mid sixties, and happliy married for 41 years. Sometimes I think about the real possibility of one day being back out there in the dating world and it PETRIFIES me! Your story gave me hope that if or when I am in that position, it isnt all bad. Much love to you and the kiddos and dogs.

Totally agree. There has to be a true soulmate somewhere out there for us. But we won’t find him sitting at home. So putting ourselves “out there” has several meanings. May you find him soon.

I date much younger. Men who are younger actually love older women. And they are more modern progressive thinking. They are very caring. The younger men need to be more mature and independent though. And we aren’t trying to get to a goal. It’s wonderful. Several of my exes became my good friends too.

I went through a period on my 30s where (not intentionally) I dated a couple guys in their 20s. Up until I was my late 50s, I was always told I looked a lot younger than my number age. I met one of them while I was refinishing woodwork in an apartment, and he was doing the tile work. We chatted and he asked me out, and we went to a Fleetwood Mac concert a few days later. About a month into dating, we were out to dinner and talking about something that prompted him to ask how old I was. When I said '32', he looked shocked, said "You're SO pretty!" which I appreciated, but thought it was weird that was a surprise lol. He then told me he was 24. It didn't bother me, as we got along great, and we lasted about a year and 1/2 and split amicably. I'm 66 now and not a young miss. I keep saying I'm 'done', but if someone comes along and it works, I'll take a chance :-)

FWIW, someone once said,"Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it." I have NEVER heard a story, since about 1999, of the may-december thing working out well FOR ANYONE anymore. Gen Y/Z are stable enough in their collective-gestalt that they aren't, in the main, looking for sugardaddies/mommas. I've never been attracted to younger men except in a physical sense. I mean, they are very difficult NOT to notice when you're at the beach 😂 I think a fling/romance with them is ok but NOT if you're looking for a long term life partner. For life partners, I don't want ANYONE around me who is my age but still wants to sit at the kids table. No thank you 😂

I sooo love this! Especially looking for a pen. I’m 61 and would’ve been the same way. I’m almost 3 years widowed now, and you show that there may be hope out there! I actually never really thought I would want to find love again, but lately I have been thinking about more than I ever thought I would. So once again, thank you ECM!😊

You’re funny. I’m Seventy two, I finally got good with just being solo about seven years ago. My last marriage was an Alpha female, highly intelligent but a Narcissist which I didn’t figure out for several years. That was a trip. Anyway I think your fun, intelligent and nice

OMG...i laughed watching this. I love that you put yourself out there. That takes guts & Im seriously proud of that for you. Im 48 & my last 25 years of relationship was with my narc ex husband. Ive been free of him (no contact) since Covid. Ive talked to some men via text (my age or older) & they just werent my cup of tea, at all. Your words of "dont give up on love, theres love out there for you" really hit, cuz I gotta admit, Im starting to wonder if I might be just destined to be partnerless. I have a full life & really dont miss dealing w a signif other, I do miss sex. Not gonna lie. LOL. Anyways, this video made me chuckle & made me feel a lilttle less hopeless. Thanks for it!

I was struck by Elizabeth’s description of her previous relationships, particularly by one word. Like a lot of guys early in life, I had trouble establishing and maintaining a relationship with a girl. Even after I had gotten a couple of relationships under my belt, I was still amazed at how much my girlfriend seemed to enjoy my company! At one point I remarked, “You really do like being physically intimate with me, don’t you?” To which she replied, “You make me feel so safe.” Not sexy, nor ecstatic - but safe.

Maybe it's possible for men to love women, but if you think this man was flirting with you, then I'm sure he was. He didnt take your number because he wanted what they all want, control.

There is a gen-x hot dad for you- his kids maybe teens (um, great for kid-sitting!) but I'm sure he's out there. NOTHING matches the quality of conversation with the generation who grew up just like us- latch-key kids, land-line phones, watching Mash with grandpa and then trying to explain the appeal of Star Blazers to him... lol.

22 years difference! That's exactly the age difference between me and a man with whom I had a very loving and kind relationship for 7 years. The split was amicable and we still talk occasionally. The age difference was a non-issue. How maddening that an older man/younger women relationship is "normal" by society's standards yet an older woman/younger man is still considered "weird" or "wrong" (if the difference is more than 2-3 years).

Go back to the next one . Males change their minds . You may have just flattered him and flustered him as we are the ones usually getting turned down . He may have rethought all of this since and maybe kicking himself
