The Rotunde de Cartier almost strikes me as a very classy fashion watch (and from a fashion brand, no doubt this could easily be interpreted that way without knowledge of the brand's history), but I know better! What a watch! Simply beautiful. I would own one of these in a heartbeat!

I think most of the Rotonde de Cartier series are those that received the most special high movement treatment before the movement used in another watch series by them. Like the mysterious watch, tourbillons, minute repeater, annual calendar, perpetual calendar, chronograph, etc. So the series and its members itself is not that it's rare.... And I see this model a few times in boutiques available for a long time as it's pretty much a slow seller for them...

In my opinion everyone should have a Cartier in their watch collections, from the Tanks to the Santos to Rotondes they're all so classy and beautiful and full of charm. Hope one day to be able to get a Myster watch in rose gold

I don't dislike them, but for me they just come that little too close to being a fashion watch. It's the sort of brand I would have in my collection, but only if I was a millionaire and I'd completely exhausted the other brands.

Yes yes yes, but crucify me if I’m wrong,It was not mentioned that this time piece owes its accuracy as a timekeeper as do near countless others to Monsieur Louis Moinet et Abraham-Louis Breguet’s collaboration that sparked LM’s column wheel chronograph into existence the essence of which now resides within some of the most expensive chronographic iterations of horology to date.

Great video as always! :) Just a question: if you stop at minute 4:46 you can see that the central guilloche dial is actually painted black, and that this coverage is all but perfect (the corner is not properly covered and it’s leaking near the whole perimeter). As far as you know, is it a defect of this particular exemplar, or is it common to find such mistakes on this reference?

Great observational skills. Notice that this seems to be a recurring theme throughout the central chrono. But the "bleed" seems to be a bit more towards the right of the watch as you had seen. hopefully it was done on purpose with the reason being, "Imperfection is beautiful." Otherwise, it ruins the watch a little. A.A P.S. would be rather amusing if that was a fake from China.

Matt Horlor, of course, that goes without saying. But this is not a couple thousand dollars watch, and, at this price point, I personally expect attention to the smallest detail. Think, for example, of the polished thread of screws in a Lang & Heyne watch, or of the beautifully hand decorated movement of any Lange & Söhne. In contrast, the finishing of the central dial in this Cartier looks to me more like the approssimative and superficially checked execution of a machine.

At 4:33 you can see the inner dial actually gives the impression of a rounded edge, I believe this is achieved by the paint job!

It's different, as in the agen-graph, the base movement is in doughnut shape,even the oscillating weight mechanism is not pivoted in the center, it's hollow. Then the chronograph wheels and mechanism are put in the middle, thus they could put any crazy things like instantenious jumping hour and minute counter. Lange may had triple split, but not jumping hour counter. Compared to this one, this cartier movement was redesigned more like a multi center chronograph while the pivots are set with disc instead of minute counter hand.

Great video as always. A great concept, but poorly executed in places. If you're going to have such a novel movement, don't place a giant hunk of metal in front of the window. Also, there are several areas of finishing that were sub-par, with a few chips here and there. Considering these were in the movement (of what you can see), I doubt these are wear and tear. It makes you think what they're hiding underneath!

Warning: Once seen, it cannot be unseen. The paint on the central dial (Black sunburst corner close to the seconds markers) is badly done as it bleeds over the edges as well as an unpainted corner (At 4:44 in the video)

What has been seen can not be unseen, i just cant get over the sloppy chronograph second hand. Overall, the watch is beautiful. Next time you could review Lange’s Zeitwerk Minute Repeater.
