I am 71 years old female. I just came off 91 hours fast today. This is my 6th Fast this year. Usually I break it off at 85 and 87 hours but this time I broke it off at 91 hours. But from here on out I, too, are going to do 48 hour fast every other week as well until I reach my goal. Thank you Dr Nick Zyrowski!

I do a 48 hour fast almost once a week. I just find its easier to not eat at all rather than eat everyday and restrict my caloric intake. Ive lost almost 15 pounds in about 1.5 months.

@@joshuabanks399 Didnt notice any muscle loss. Im naturally very thick and built though. If you’re a weightlifter you wont lose muscle especially if you workout on days you aren’t fasting.

I can totally relate to that where if you do more than 48 hours you have to work again so what I do is I start my fasting the day of my last workday of the week and I’m currently doing a three day fast myself right now i’ve been fasting for the last four or five months and have gotten great results since a year ago I am now down 54 pounds since I started my journey I am so glad I have learned about fasting and all the benefits it will give you.

OMAD is very good too if you couldn't handle a 48 hour fast, some people get real hungry even after a 24 hr fast and those are the people who crave junk foods, caffeine, sodas, donuts...

Dear Nick, I’m a long time reader of your video’s on RU-vid. I appreciate profoundly what you share with your readers. However, I have a question about NAC. I started with this, as well as TMG and Quercetin, since 8 days. I have a light form of asthma and I read a lot about the benefits of all the 3 as well as longevity. I believe in live extension. I’m also a strong believer in intermittent fastning. I regularly do not eat for 3-4 days and drink lots of water. My asthma was doing very well. I didn’t need my inhalator. But now I start coughing, breath harder, get itchy on my skin. Is this maybe a positive reaction to NAC and I have to get through it? I read from some other readers the same experiences. I also take high quality olive oil as well as apple cider with lemon, vit. K2, selenium, d3, magnesium, multi vitamin, omega 3, lechitine, zinc, vit.E, vit. C, potassium, 5-HTP, Ginkgo Biloba, iron, garlic and Astaxanthine. I hope you will reply to me. Best regards, Siert from the Netherlands.

You are taking too many supplements . Try to focus on real food ( variety ) and fats more often . So many supplements can’t be good for your body .

im doing fasting Monday and Wednesday and eat low carb Tuesday, I was doing one day since the new year, overall feeling better but the switch to 2 days havnt seen my waist measure drop in the last month since I started the 2 days, sorta stuck around 38inches.

Have been doing OMAD for almost a year with a cheat day on Sundays in I’ve hit a plateau. I can’t seem to lose fat as I once did, will begin adding a 56 hour fast twice a month.

Great thanks I do keto leaning more to carnivore . I have Ckd from wrong prescription meds and following the SAD eating of the American heart association. So is a 48 hour safe for me aged 77 , no cardiac issues every elemental function is good except kidneys . My bmi is 23 . I walk 3 to 4 miles every day . A previous kidney doc discounted fasting and considered it dangerous. He had no answer when I asked him why as I assumed giving kidneys a rest was a good idea . I fast every day 18 hours and eat only 2 meals ending at 3 pm . My labs are excellent except creatine is 2.0 .

I am always critical when it comes to doing things that are not instinctive, like purposely not eating when your body is telling you to. Just remember, that just because a bunch of people believe or talk about something does not mean it's correct. We evolved hunger for a reason, and that reason is survival. Our bodies are not worried about getting too much food, it is worried about starving to death. Now a 48 hour fast is not dangerous, and I'm not criticizing fasts from 24 to 48 hours. I don't do it, but if you really think about it, fasting, which is not eating, is considered a threat to all animals. If you are constantly fasting, for too long too often, you body is kicking on survival mechanisms to preserve energy and prepare for a famine. Once in a while is fine, because we have been going hungry for millions of years, but being in a constant state of preparing for a famine cannot be all positive. Nobody seems to even consider the downsides of long term fasting, and there are many of them like thyroid dysfunction, testosterone changes and muscle loss. I saw if you are going to fast, never do it over 24-48 hours, and don't do it very often. No more than once every couple of months. I see long-term fasting as a fad, where people don't consider the downsides. They only seem to believe what everybody else says, without question. Not very smart in my opinion...

Our bodies did develop in a world though where food was not just readily available and had to be hunted down. Humans probably went days or longer without food till the big kill and massive feast. Dr Pradip Jamnada said something about your body boosting your metabolic rate during fasting so that you'd get your butt out of the cave with plenty of energy to go get the next kill.

but the thing is, even if you listen to your bodys instinctive "hunger cues" and attempt eat according to your "natural" needs, those cues and needs are no longer natural if your diet had primarily relied on junk food or processed food. Not just talking cravings, but its a fact that fast food/highly processed food and added sugars make you get hungry more frequently and easily since theyre curated to be addictive. and realistically, food isnt meant to be as accessible as it is now. animals used to hunt for food and you werent guarenteed meals at the end if the day...so technically fasting could still be considered a natural part of the journey. Ive felt days where i feel like im eating "too much" and the only thing making me eat is the social convention of breakfast lunch and dinner.

My body constantly asked for food every two hours before I started fasting 😅. I should have listened to it, right? I am 44hrs into my 48 hrs fast and I am not lying when I say this, I am not hungry. I have not had a hunger pang so far. We evolved from fasting because we became more innovative and creative, but it's not dangerous at all.

This is normal it's called keto fever and it's because you're body is in carbohydrate withdrawal. Stop eating so many carbs before you start fasting and you should be fine

Calorie cycling. Have some higher calorie days (maintenance or a little higher) and some deficit days, and some fasting days. It will prevent adaptation to a constant deficit

Do you count skipping 2 calendar days as a 48-hour fast? Or do you also count the time between dinner and midnight on the last feeding day, as well as the time between midnight and breakfast on the refeeding day? Because if I fast, say, Tuesday and Wednesday, that's really a 60 hour fast because I'm fasting from dinner on Monday through breakfast on Thursday.

The fast is 48 hours from the time to stop eating to the time you eat again.. So, yes It seems more like a one day fast as you count all sleeping times too in the 48 hours.

There must be something about a woman’s hormones during menopause that fights against her while she fasts. I never used to have difficulty with fasting. Now I find it’s a real mind game when I do. I love to fast and thank God for it. I’m now on the other side of menopause getting rid of the excess pounds

@@mickeymouse4938 I would dry fast for 36hrs but I’d suggest for you starting do 14hrs. I had experience with water fasting for 48hrs and wanted better results so I went that direction.

The only problem I see for me is ,I take 3 medicine every morning for hypertension and not on a empty stomach,any thoughts on that? also fasting definitely makes blood pressure higher at least the first day more releases of stress hormones,any thoughts?

The 16 hour fast is easy to do, eat your last meal at 6 or 7 Pm, sleep early and eat next meal at 11:00 am after some exercise, meditation, reading, its easy.

I still drink coffee and even put in a dash of heavy whipping cream. Of course the hardcore fasting community will burn me at the stake for saying this, “You just broke your fast” “That’s not fasting cheater.” Well, I do rolling 48’s, then 16:8’s I continually switch it up, I’m always loosing weight, no plateaus, no headaches, and I can do 72 hour fast with no problem, with the family cooking Spaghetti, or Cheeseburgers. I was a Deputy Sheriff for 24 years, I lived off of sometimes 5-7 if not 10 cups of coffee a day. I gave up drinking, cigarettes and binge eating, basically all my addictions, not going to give up my coffee.

If you did use LMNT during a fast though, it would have to be the unflavoured. Cannot have any hint of sweetners during a fast. Also, KetoChow company makes "fasting Drops" that you add to your water - they also sell a bottle of Minerals. All that is good with the fast.

I buy Smart water. I buy the tall bottle, it has everything you need contained in that water. So if your doing a 48 hour fast , only drink half that bottle. Continue with your other water but don’t go overboard. Unless your a competitive athlete you don’t need tons of water. Everyone tells you water, water, water. So you drink Smart water with the electrolytes. Now you start drinking your gallon+ of water and your peeing every 10 minutes. Well now you just pissed out the electrolytes you all ready had in your body and the electrolytes from the Smart water, now here comes the severe headaches, the sluggishness, nausea. You drink when your thirsty, don’t overdo it, if your training 6 hours in the gym, yeah you need that water, but if your just some average person wanting to lose weight, I just gave you the formula.

Apple cider vinegar with the mother to get the acid to the right ph. Walking, getting outside, get some sunlight, and meditation could help with anxiety. I would work up slowly though before going 48 hours if you are not used to fasting. Look into getting all the nutrition like ag1 with a d3/k2 supplement plus electrolytes. It will take some time to heal. Topical supplements do exist too like topical magnesium

Just completed a water only 65 hour fast, just short of 3 days. Feeling incredible. Still was able to do exercise and ended up losing 7 lbs. Breaking my fast I drank some olive oil followed by chicken bone broth. Next some avocado with sauerkraut and chia seeds. Next lean chicken breast. Following day chobai plain yogurt with fresh blueberries. 😊 Thank you for advice.

It’s all in the mind, I sometimes fast for 72 hours and I feel fantastic and I’m in my 50s .. I remember watching a video and somebody said you can go without food if you’re overweight and I remember thinking yep I’m overweight, so I’m not going to starve to death.. I’m now down 20lb and at my healthiest.. good luck 🙏

I would like to do longer fasts but worry about gallstones. Valter Longo commented that long term intermittent fasting, with an eating window of less than 12 hours, could cause gallstones

If you did it 3 times a week you would only be eating 1 day a week. It would no longer be a 48 hr fast

My step sister died from fasting, she wasn't anorexic but she just stopped eating to lose weight and it cost her to contract disease it left her practically paralyzed for many years and in pain, she finally died at the age of 50 Something

Sorry to hear this, but your sister may have been doing it wrong. Did she keep her salt intake up. I lost my sister to weight loss surgery. Don't fear fasting if you do, just follow guidelines and information as found in videos like this. ♥️💞
