Great episode! Even though you had all the intentions to film being home, I'm glad you decided to just be in the moment and make your own memories. I do the same thing. I have these ideas to film certain events and honestly...it's hard to work and relax at the same time. What you did capture was fantastic! So happy you got to be home and get all the rest you needed. That was SO nice of you to let the Rock Dove finish nesting on your balcony! My Grandpa would let swallows nest under the eaves of his front porch...even when they made big messes. Said he liked having them more than not. Reminded me of him! Thanks for the good vibes!
It's been a dream of mine to live in Japan, so I applied for JET this year through the New Zealand branch and got super close but got rejected at the last hurdle. It hurt. Instead, I decided to move to Australia (Sunshine Coast actually!) And I arrived about a week before you managed to get home. I was really struggling and finding it super difficult after getting turned down from a dream job and leaving all my friends behind, but seeing the gratitude, love and happiness you had for being back in Australia really eased my tension of moving and helped me come to terms with where I am and what I'm doing. I enjoy it here now and I'm looking forward to applying for JET again! Cheers Emma, you helped a lot without knowing you did.
I've been living in NSW for about 5 years, close to Sydney. I'm dreaming about going to Japan and working/living there. But I don't know how to do it since I don't even have Australian citizenship. And I can relate so much to your comment. This video made me more aware of the beautiful place I'm currently in and allowed me to be more patient and grateful for it. Love to you all.
I've watched your channel for a few years now and have never worked out why on Earth you'd want to live in Tokyo rather than Australia. The friendliness of Australian people is beyond anything I've ever experienced so I'm glad you went back to your roots. Lovely video.

Oh my gosh, 😭 I'm from the Sunshine coast and lived in Brisbane for 8 years before moving to Japan this year. I love Japan and have been loving living here but this video made me cry happy tears about how beautiful Australia (Queensland especially) is. Also I miss Australian live music!! And I had so much culture shock about masks coming to Japan from Aus. I knew it was normal that people were them here in Japan and thought I was prepared but we only wear them in Queensland when there is an outbreak so It's felt a little weird. Glad you enjoyed your rest time! ❤️

Yeah was so crazy about all the cancellations - even now - I just went to Haneda Airport last week and of 25 flights departing 18 of them were cancelled! (also..this gives me hope for rescheduling my 2 year overdue trip to Australia...so now i'm off to see what restrictions are in place for the places we wanted to go to, and see if rebooking without having to quarantine at any point is possible as i got a new job and I get very limited time off)

I think there is a natural rhythm to where you are raised. I live 2000 miles from where I was raised, have lived where I am now for 3 times longer but there is something natural about going back. There is no way I would move back.

Yay for visiting home! You made Australia climb a bit on my travel wish list, even if there wasn't a lot of filming. As for the pigeon... I don't mean to scare you, but I would hang a net around your balcony now😅 I pigeon nested on my balcony in 2019, and I had no idea what would follow. The two following years, my balcony was filled with pigeon poop. Finally last year, the building owner got net for all the apartments, yay!

Oh Emma, that was a much needed vacation. It's good that you didn't film a lot. But it was nice to see the snippets from home. :) Also, covid did a number on you guys living abroad. Not being able to go back is the worst. It could've been three years anyway, but at least it would've been a choice. So yeah, this brought a few tears in my eyes because seeing you happy was so nice. :) Be well.
