In this video I am reminding you to always verify you are getting what you purchased, I paid $2400 and received an engine worth $500. And I can't do anything about it. A simple check on delivery would have saved me thousands!
When you buy a motor, have the seller send a picture of the motor and also the motor serial #. I was on the opposite end of this story- I sold a motor to a guy and he claimed it was defective and went through Ebay for a refund. I asked him to send a picture of the motor serial # and it was not the same number that I had sent him. He was trying to send back his old blown up motor for a refund. He hadn't noticed that I had put the motor serial # in my ad- Ebay denied his claim.
@@JovaniDanteGriego I've been watching most of your builds and videos. You have allot of information. I'm just getting into LS engines and debating what engine I'm going to put into my 73 Camaro. Kinda "Gun shy!" into putting an LS in there.
Yea I stressed about it for a bit, but I'll probably.just rebuild the engine in the avalanche my self, which I should've just done. And maybe I'll have an excuse for another project
@@JovaniDanteGriego fingers crossed it’s good. Just last weekend I returned a motor to a salvage yard after I swapped it into my Sierra because it had zero oil pressure and a crazy knock
Restocking fees should be criminal. How in the hell does it cost 35% to shelf a product back? It's just a way to sway people from even returning a product & to simply be forced to keep for many years before finally throwing it away. Even attempting to resell something in Offer Up, Craigs list, or even Ebay is a pain on the ass...bunch of pathetic people grinding you down to almost nothing. So I either give it for free or throw it. But even attempting to give something for free is a pain on the ass simply because people are pathetic.
Thanks brother, for the heads up. There's no joke in the fact that there are predaters out there. Wouldn't it be great if even 1/2 of people out there just decided to do the right thing. I'm 2k into a Jeep it spun a rod bearing. Now trying to decide what's what.
Oh hell no. For $2400 and the wrong engine I would put it in my truck, drive to Texas, and show up at their door step in person. And if they give you shit tell them that they can fix it or face Federal Business Fraud charges because that shit crossed state line.
You should of bought the right engine again from him off ebay and then when it came and was double checked file a return with ebay and send him the wrong one back. Ebay always sides with the buyer if the time frame is met. And never say it didnt fit because ebay wont side with you so always say not as described when asking to return. Sorry dude. You seem like a nice guy and that company did you wrong.
Believe me I know exactly where you're coming from Dude. You trust people enough to comfortably know that you've got what you want 'secured', safely at your home, and you can then work on it at your leisure, ONLY to find...
Theirs not many machine shops in business anymore so it’s getting harder to rebuild your own engine so I get my engines from City motors in Dallas already built ready to go good warranty
Thanks for the advice. I'm looking for a 2007 yukon denali engine and I check so many pages o links , so on the future I go buy for powertrain products Inc in the page they give you 7 years of guaranteed of engines , transmission , so many products good prices and they've RU-vid videos how to test each engine and what they send you, what parts and whatever you want... what are your thing??
I bought a used LM7 from a guy up in Lone Butte off of EBay Marketplace. Went out and looked at it and paid for it. The guy dropped it off at my house the next day, and when I got around to looking at it I found out that it was a different engine and one cylinder is full of water. He won't respond to phone calls or emails anymore. So I feel your pain. I'm in Santa Fe, if you still have, and want to get rid of that LM7 let me know as I might be in the market for one to continue the swap into a '65 El Camino.
Yessir! I finally got it up and on a stand and found out it turns over. It’s a “drive-by-wire” and I don’t know what year it is. Could you sometime do a video about how to tell what year and what engine you might have? I used a bore scope, and it does have dishes pistons, so I know it’s a 5.3, but not much else.
@@JovaniDanteGriego well, OK. So many back ordered parts, i can’t make much progress. Im posting a ‘build update’ vid tomorrow. I still want to do a ‘fuel delivery’ video with you, but i don’t even have the fuel tank. :(
@@AmateurHourGarage Hey man it didnt show on my phone that this was a super chat, Thanks so much for that! I really appreciate it. Im always here to help! The winter time alot of my projects slow down so ill be available more to make that vid with you.
Finally someone else who's area is ridiculous with LS stuff. Some used parts counter person found RU-vid and decided oh well sell em for 2500, then every other place was like well shit If they're doing it, we will do it, and we won't let people pull their own engines
I bought one fairly local from a private seller on marketplace. It was 2,000 for the engine with 78,000 since the dod delete, Brian Toolie cam were done. But he said if I paid full price he would throw in the speed engendering headers and stainless less exhaust with flow master 40 series. So hopefully I came out ahead. He also threw in the cold air intake from speed engendering 14:01 and plug wires for the header Instal so they don’t melt the stock ones
That’s fucked up. You should have driven down there and got either all your money back or your motor. I’m from Oakland ca and we don’t play that shit out here.somebody would have had to pay for that .so sorry that happened to you bro
Wassup Jovani! Did you ever put the complete steering column out of a 2001 2500hd into a square body? I have a 84’ K-5 and my donor truck is. 2001 2500hd any info is greatly appreciated.
Yeah, I tend to verify by the pictures on the listing. That's pretty sketchy that they put up pictures and stats of one engine and then have another junk yard drop ship a completely different engine. No matter how much benefit of the doubt you give, that seems like bad practice... If it were a freak accident one off, they'd be more eager to make it right...
That's my thoughts as well. But unfortunately my card won't charge back after 90 days. The only route I have now would be a legal one but I don't really want to deal with it. I'll make my money back with the engine somehow
Did the seller put their little "seals" on the engine. The metal things they use to mark it... They generally stick them on the side of the block and the back if the heads. Wouldn't that be proof that it came from them? Also your credit card company should he able to help you out. Just dispute the charge.
You have them saying they sent you the wrong engine email a copy to eBay them self and they should refund you they have a strict set of description policy’s and they violated that doesn’t matter how many days have passed
Its ok. I ended up selling the engine for 1000 just to recoup some cash. Hopefully this video will hurt them more than a few thousands dollars would in the long run
There is no gen 1 or 2 you have gen 3 and 4 and 5(LT) dbc was until around 02 on most LS engines then only a few vans and commerical vehicles kept it past that
@@JovaniDanteGriego yep you are right i just googled it gen 3 was 99-07, i had a 2000 silverado with a 4.8 vortec same platform "LS" it had a cable TB, then i had an 03 6.0 with electronic TB also turns out to be Gen 3, so gen 3 apparently had both cable and then later electronic TB's
I know this might sound crazy.. its a state away load it up take it back yourself few hours of your time .. I'd say worth it .. I know skum bags but when you show up you just might get what you want ..
Saw this video says its one year ago...you probably have figured it out by now what your going to do or done. From watching this, I would say rebuild your original engine and find out what happen.
WOW!!!! What a bunch of shit!!!! Sorry man!! I would put out their name for all of your subscribers to boycott these guys. If they were a GOOD COMPANY, they should have manned up and taken care of it to make it RIGHT. Thanks for the heads up...
@JovaniDanteGriego this buisiness you got your engine from is alot like the one I have coming in on the 30th.. god help me. I can call you for pointers right? 🤣👀
I understand that this comment is late but before anything strip off the plastic while the delivery guy is still there waiting for a signature look it over and say no its not correct take it back.
@@JovaniDanteGriego Did ya check? virtually every dod engine i see has that same knock. not trying to be a know it all. just hate to see guys get hosed like that is all man. good luck Brother.
If it's a 2.4 they are pretty pricey. I'd go with a local junkyard or lkq. I'd also pay someone to rebuild it if it's more than 100k miles. At least do the timing chains
I think the company has a lot of nerve sending me a 1999 engine when i paid $2500 for a engine that was listed as being from a 2008 CHEVY TAHOE. I have way more knowledge than the average joe, and they would've also been fucked in the same way. once the delivery truck leaves theres not much you can do. A good company would have worked to fix the issue if they gave a damn about their reputation
You say your only one state away,,if I was you I would be driving that one state to get some self satisfaction,,2400 hundred dollars is a good amount of money,, make that trip
Because sometimes it's easier to drop a know good running engine in. It's called a core and shops do it all the time. Plus I needed up rebuilding it blmyself because there are enough good shops in my area and that takes a lot of time
Thank he got screwed its not right it happened to me before on fleabay with item I sold so the guy got item for free and his money-back so buyers beware and sellers
Wouldn't you be able to sue them for selling you a counterfeit item? Heres a definition from a website. Counterfeit merchandise involves manufacturing goods, usually inferior to the original, and selling them using the brand name without the owner’s permission to defraud and deceive.
@@JovaniDanteGriego well it's still false advertisement per. Ebay agreement. .......u can always swap the 58x crank and 4x timing cover.....that's what I'd do....and just tune out all the other afm, vvt, etc etc...
@@JovaniDanteGriego 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 hindsight 😔😔😔 you're gonna pay 3-4k before it's all set and done. Sucks bro...... I know Santa is a little better on pricing if you got a hook up..... Good luck buddy... Maybe you should do a ring and bearing video instead 👊👊👊
