I love your usual content, but I do enjoy see you and your friends in your natural element. I never even considered an R1 because of cost but also because a lot of people said it would be a bad idea for a beginner. I love my R3, but now I find myself occasionally "shopping" for an R1 (or R1M, so I can say "every letter, every time" ;) ).

I never realized till i found ur channel that there is such a huge community around motorcycles and how much there is to learn in order to ride one safely. Very cool stuff

That R1M is such a sexy bike. I have no use for one where i live, with very conservative speed limits and quite harsh enforcements of the speed limits, but it sure is nice to look at.

Long, boring arse story alert! Right, at the age of too old, I was in the process of taking (and failing a few times) my direct access and tooling around eBay looking at potential post pass bikes and I found a 1984 VF1000FE with a non standard camo paint job, seeping fork seal, and a camchain rattle that goes once it warms up for £400 (4 days net wages), 0 bids, 7 days, so I put a bid in and IMMEDIATELY got buyers remorse... with good reason. When we picked it up my mate grabbed his helmet out of the car and gave me his car keys, the rain was biblical, the paint was a B&Q (or Home Depot) special with visible brush strokes, the camchain rattled like a runaway train and the forks were like the Exxon Valdez - it must have had 2 careful owners and 7 hamfisted fuckwits. Anyway, we get it to the garage Terry (my china) works at and he says he'll give me a shopping list to be delivered to him and come back in a week or two. I do, and I've finally passed and expect to pick it up and ride home - nope, not ready, but "I'll keep working on it, you go with Kevin and my Blade (1994, black and maroon - great standard paint scheme) over to the bus turning area round the back of the estate and ride it a bit to get a feel for the difference between the school 500 twin and a litre 4" So, we do that - it's a Sunday so no one else to disturb us. I'm doing circles and figure 8s and not noticing much difference - but how much can you notice in a 50x50 yard box of fresh tarmac, with little experience and barely hitting 5k revs in 2nd? Terry comes over once he's done, and watches for a bit and suggests I try to find out about the acceleration and braking I can expect - come to one end of the box, pull away hard and change up as many times as I can, then hit the anchors, without laying her down (Terry's bike, remember) or slamming into the chain link fence and the buses parked 6 inches away on the other side. So I do this a few times, but not hard or aggressively enough and I get called over for some words of encouragement ("Stop riding like a girl's knickers, you tart! Give it the berries and then grab a fistful! Don't worry about the bike - as long as you're not going home in an ambulance it's all good!" So I set myself up at one end, run through my head the starting revs, slip the clutch, feed in more power, change up, another twist, change up, close throttle, progressively apply front then rear brakes. I then look up, try not to hyperventilate, aim for the rizla paper gap between two buses, wind on some revs, feed out the clutch give more revs, more clutch and light up the rear and fishtail for 10 yards, leaving a black streak on the fresh tarmac and a brown streak in my boxer shorts gusset and start hyperventilating like a motherfucker thinking Terry's going to kill me for the total loss of control and almost dropping his ride and I see Kevin bent double and Terry literally rolling on the floor alternately laughing their arses off and gasping for air. So, I take my hat off to your mate for having better control than me the first time he rode a big sports bike.
