Don't know if the person who emailed is a Muslim but Khadijah RA chose to marry the Prophet SAW purely because of his character - she was a wealthy businesswoman from a prominent family while the Prophet SAW was poor and an orphan. To anyone who judges their potential spouse based on superficial things - learn from the most perfect example of a husband and wife from our own history.

I feel like I really need to put this out there, for the girl who sent this question. I'm a highly educated woman who was once engaged to a a highly educated guy (gpa of 4.0) and let me tell you, his degrees meant absolutely NOTHING. He was constantly on and off jobs, didn't have any ambitions, and every step of the way felt like a struggle. We broke it off for different reasons, but that experience did teach me that degrees really do NOT imply security. I'm now married to a man who only has a high school degree, and let me tell you, while I was getting to know him, I had to fight tooth and nail to convince my family and friends that he was a decent, honorable, and brilliant guy, and he is literally the hardest working man I know. His life circumstances were not the same as mine or anyone else in our family, so how could they judge him? His entire life was a struggle; I won't go into details, but many men would not be capable of enduring what he endured; and it only made him more resilient and kind-hearted. Not everyone has the same opportunities in life, and REALLY, we're quite lucky to born be in a context that ENABLES us to study - never forget that. I ended up marrying him, and genuinely, I've never felt MORE secure in my life; God provides, if your intentions are pure and you marry a man for his heart, for his personality, and really for who he is, I genuinely believe God WILL provide for you. It might be a struggle at first, but believe me, it's worth it. We all need to compromise in some aspect when it comes to marriage, and as long as the man is hard-working, you will be fine. My family and friends adore him now if not only for how well he treats me. Oh and one more thing, I swear I kid you not,early on as I was getting to know him, I received so many proposals come via family/friends from doctors/engineers - it was like God was testing me to see if I'd cave and ditch this guy solely for superficial reasons. I had my sisters and my mother CONSTANTLY argue with me to get to know these other guys too, to at least give them a chance and I'd have nothing to lose, but I was convinced of my current husband. Integrity and hard-work goes a long way - I couldn't be happier now, he's the best husband a girl could hope for. I'm not saying every situation is like mine, but I do hope it encourages highly educated girls to consider guys that don't have a degree - you might be missing out on the most beautiful souls. I'll leave you with a quote that I find very, very powerful: "While young graduates are right to be proud of their university degrees, and they have now joined an elite club (only 6.7 percent of the global population has a university degree), they must never forget that their ability to obtain a degree had as much or more to do with luck than hard work and intelligence. Sure, they worked hard and did well in school. And yes, the fact that many of their classmates flunked out along the way suggests that making it to graduation was never a given. But, let's face it, all university graduates won the lottery by being born into a context that allowed them to get a university degree. " - William G Moseley

Aya Tc I'm with a guy with a diploma my parents don't want him for that reason and cause he is less wealthy than us..he is very hard working and would sacrifice anything for me But everyone is against me :/ how come some women regret marrying someone less wealthy or educated than them?

Someone once told me, "You do not just marry the person, you also marry their habits. So when you get serious about getting married, marry someone whose habits you like". This really stuck with me. This guy might be a bus driver, but the question should not be about his career, but rather his habits. Is he consistent in all areas of his life? Is he driven? Is he goal-oriented? does he have vision? how does he spend his free time? I really feel like the kind of person he is off the job will give you insight into the kind of person he truly is.

i used to date a professional football player.. then he hurt his leg and he was too proud to work.... not with him anymore now since years, he still doesn't work.. but is a gambler now...was the worst relationship.. now i am dating someone, he comes from a very very poor family, he used to work as garbage man, cleaned the streets and was a pizza delivery guy all at once while going to university to study business, he has his own company now and it's going very well for him. don't judge people by their occupation, but by their character and determination. also.. my favorite uncle is a bus driver, and he is the best :p

I agree with what you guys said but I just want to point out that education should be something that is encouraged and put in a more positive light and this is coming from a struggling uni student who hates school sometimes. Having a degree doesn't mean you're wise and not having a degree doesn't mean you're dumb. However, if you do have the opportunity to go to uni and you're passionate about a subject you want to learn about you should definitely go for it. Ideally having a degree is more advantageous than not having one. People can take so many things away from you but they can't take away your education. Knowledge is power.
@chutney4208
@chutney4208 7 лет назад
That goes without saying.Any education a person has will always be beneficiary for them. It's just a point made because in this generation your put on the spot and even looked down on if you don't have some sort of higher education. When success can be attained without it and that's been made evident yet still it's a stigma.

Purple Wilhelmina william I completely agree, I was just getting vibes that they were implying getting a degree is worthless. Steve Jobs and Muhammad Ali were so so intelligent and changed the world and didn't have degrees. I myself always think about the people who use their talent and are millionaires as a result and never graduated high school.
@leeebaps793
@leeebaps793 7 лет назад
Fatima H and remember that people like Steve jobs and Muhammad Ali are exceptions AND excelled in fields that did not require a degree. The majority of everyday people will not go far without a degree or ridiculous family inheritance etc.

I feel like the fact, that the guy is a bus driver won't be a problem for the girl, however, let's not forget about the family. Here is my little story. My boyfriend and I have been together since 2011. When we first started dating I was studying at school (10 year) and he was getting ready to go to college. Well, colleges in Russia are not very prestigious , basically people get a practical profession there like an electrician or a plummer or something. My boyfriend ended up doing cartography which isn't even that bad, but my dad STILL believes that he is not good enough or smart enough for me even though he is doing geodesy engineering at uni now. My point is: if your father thinks that you are too good for the guy, be prepared for some serious family drama. Make sure that your boyfriend is the one and only then think about marrying him, it is going to save you a lot of nerves, imho.

I definitely agree! Our society judges a person based on his educational attainment. My husband does not hold a degree but he is very hardworking and humble. That Bus Driver could very well have an Honours Degree., he could easily have a Masters but not be able to get into a 'career'. I worked with a guy who had an Honours from Oxford and Masters from Cambridge in an entry level civil service job with me. And he, though highly educated was a THICK as S#! ¥. He left after 4 years to be Bin Man because it had a better salary scale, better pension and a higher chance of him getting promoted, he was better dealing with bins than files because his spelling was awful. Bus Drivers are notorious flirts though, he could have a girl on every route.

Honestly I agree university doesn't prepare you for real life situations or doesn't make you smarter however you shouldn't downgrade someone who has a degree. I had similar problem with my ex boyfriend. I am a medical student and he was a ceramic worker. My mum was strongly against our relationship, she was doing everything in her power to make me break up with him because he doesn't have a college degree. I never saw his job as a problem, more important thing for me was that he was a hard-working man, that he wasn't lazy and that he was able to provide for himself (and later for the family). We ended up breaking up anyways but it had nothing to do with his job or my mum. My advice is - fight for your love, and don't let anybody stop you from being happy! Good luck!

A bus driver once asked for my number, after I had shown him my child's/half fare bus pass, and I had to awkwardly tell him I was only 17 (He was about 40). This didnt stop him though, he asked every time I got on the bus up to him telling me he was changing bus companies and telling me it was my last chance, after I said that I was still 17 he said that it had been over a year since he asked first and told me I was a 'tease' and that I was 'definitely 18 by now'. He spent every bus ride staring at me in the mirror and asked me where i was going if I didnt get off at my usual stop, he also repeatedly told me how amazing my bum/ boobs looked in clothing. Some of the most awkward bus rides of my life.

laura b9876 I've had very similar situations at that age, being called a tease when I wasn't even interested in the guy and didn't dress provocatively or even flirt. it was always older guys, full grown men who would do this. My oldest niece is reaching that age and I'm concerned about it happening to her. I wish someone had told me how to handle situations like that when I was young. I'll be telling my nieces.

Honestly it's kind of sad that this hasn't only happened to just me, I feel like bus drivers forget they are in a position of trust and need to make their passengers feel safe and comfortable, both things I didn't feel, especially knowing he basically knew where I lived, now I think about it I should have made a complaint to the bus company but at the time I tried to brush it off, in regards to your nieces kangakong my only suggestion is to tell them to be aware that it happens but not to be scared because it's not fair that these experiences should make anyone afraid

gizer94ge lol dont worry about it, uni is still a great thing. Im in it right now and im glad im studying. Going to uni or not going is a personal choice and depending on what career you want its necessary to go. Your degree will help u get a job. Theyre just saying that some people with degrees who spend all that time and money do it for the wrong reasons (title and status instead of actually hoping to work in a field they enjoy)

gizer94ge going to uni is one of the best decisions you can make! I think it depends what you are studying and where it gets u in life ... they are just sharing their opinion not saying uni is worthless

Guys and gals who are in the stages of applying for uni - if your career path does not require a degree or a formal qualification don't bother with uni. This world is rapidly developing and new opportunities are available that time spent at university will only keep you from achieving. It is honestly a complete waste of time and money if you are not being qualified for something or you know 10000% that you need it for your future career. The best classroom we have is free for all us and it's where the best kind of learning happens. I'm a primary school teacher and there is no way I'll be promoting university to the kids I teach the way our teachers did.

As someone who values education, I completely agree. Too many people going into debt just because schools make them unaware of options besides university.

Sleeping Beauty nope, I'm pretty sure you can go on courses. I think you do need a levels tho x

You do need a degree, you have to have a degree in Education Studies (if you're a primary teacher) or if you're a high school teacher then you have to have some degree linking to the subject you teach. Then you do a PGCE which is what gives you qualified teacher status. My mum dropped out of uni because of health issues but since 2001 she has been working her way up in a school - she did NVQs and things but she still had to do a degree and she is almost finished her PGCE.

Great video and advice! I just wanted to add that whilst most people get a degree for better work opportunities and pay, there are also people who undergo higher education simply to gain knowledge and study something they are interested in. So the measure of success of your degree doesn't have to be the career you have post-degree, but the knowledge you gain.
