Great to see you man, iv really missed ur videos, there isn't enough God fearing men out here on RU-vid mountain bike videos, i just wanted to say i did exactly what u did, iv had a 2019 Trek Stache 7 for years, and never owed a full suspension, iv slowly upgraded everything to carbon wheels , x01 drive train, and bought the full Stache 8 frame and swaped everything over

Early, good to see you’re back with another “edit” Josh, we’ve been missing you (just the other day I was looking in your channel for another video I haven’t watched)! Good morning (I’m in Washington too)! This video is better than ever...all those little clips! It’s still a little bit hard to wrap my mind around this whole concept of buying a new or used frame, transferring parts from your old rig and putting them on your new frame and selling the old frame, but it could work I guess, and man, making money on a bike, and getting better components?! Sign me up! Great advice, but you’re sure that I could sell an “old” bike with cheap, decent parts I found for equal, or slightly more money than the bike’s frame and original + those cheap good parts?

Ayyy I was just wondering when you would post again yesterday. A couple years back I bought a 2011 Marin Attack Trail and did a bunch of upgrades on it. Ended up selling it last March for $1700. Also picked up an NS Eccentric hard tail custom build on the cheap back in pre-pandemic days ($700) and sold it for $1800! Long story short, bought the 2016 Evil Insurgent im on now. Bike market has done me well

These are excellent tips! I've flipped many bikes over the years. It's critical when you're doing a build to keep your parts cost low. I love going to shops that have bins of used parts. I've sometimes snagged some some Deore components for only a few bucks. I also like looking for end of season discounts from online retailers. If you do a large enough order, it'll compensate for exchange rate and shipping costs. Now if only someone would buy my Bianchi and free up some funds...

How's that sentinel treating you coming from the ripley AF?

What a timely video. I just put a deposit down today on a Ripley AF deore build to replace my SC Chameleon hard tail. I am planning on pulling all the deore parts off the Ripley and replacing them with the SLX parts off of the Chameleon. The big question is do I install the new deore parts on Chamelon and sell it as a complete bike or do I part everything out, including the frame?

If you enjoy working on your own bike to swap all those parts around, then the time you spend doing this is an added bonus... However, if you don't enjoy it or just don't have the time or skills to do it yourself, well, time is money.

Funnily enough i sold my 2016 devinci troy for £550 and bought a newer 2019 transition sentinel frame for £520 which was also invsi framed came with cranks and a shock upgrade. Or for example my current 2 pot xts arent powerful enough so a cheap upgrade was to convert to magura, bought a set where the rear calliper was leaking for £40 (I needed the hose and front calliper) I can sell the levers for £50 plus so basically i am getting a free upgrade. Your video highlights ways I also use to upgrade my bike; you just have to be patient with deals.

Nice to see the transition from burned out to missing this. Just ride the endorphins pal, we'll still be here. Also, 100% agree on the long game, but it does require dedication and a nest egg.

I sell plasma and watch for deals to stock up on parts for future use. I literally bleed my own blood to ride, but blood is basically free to make, so... Does it really cost you anything in the end?

I am happy your back. You got lucky with your flip as you live in a mtb hotbed of the PNW and had years of collecting parts. Right now your advise is not good for the most of us. For example. I live in Southern Ontario Canada. The most populas place in all of Canada. MTB is highly popular here. I bought my GAINT trance 2 in 2016 for 2500 Canadian. Last year at the hight of the pandemic shortages I could of easily sold my bike for 3500 to 4500 hundred. However the used market was over inflated, a bike that would go for 900 to 1200 retail currently was being flipped right away for 2000 to 3000 as the bike shops had nothing! Once the pandemic is over and supply comes back to Pre covid levels I can see what you did very easy to do. Right now you can't even get simple drive train parts as there is a part shortage let alone bike shortage.

I don't have that much energy. Requires thinking and working. I just want to ride. Good tips though

Over here,the priests ride fancy Audi's,over there expensive bikes,and judging by the garage,a whole lot of other expensive stuff!
