You could have started a claimant faction to press Erik's claim on Sweden

High partition is still partition, so Forced partition contract means nothing for a long time. If you're confident you are not gonna be a vassal that long then Forced partition is actually best thing to offer for a contract change. For playing safe, I would offer forced partition for no title revocation and maybe high levy for religion protection.

Pressed claims like the ones your first character had do actually get passed down

Great strategy overall, but I’m pretty sure once you have the kingdom of Sweden you can just disband the law that makes it a vote for the king situation. I would’ve just done that and made sure rebels couldn’t make me eat shit

When you change the feudal contract for religious rights, it is better to also tick the “forced partition” so you don’t have to give up taxes or levies.

I forgot how I found your channel but just binge watching all your episodes I was able to make the Empire of Hispania and after a Crusade for The kingdom of Jerusalem and accidentally playing as that character i managed to make the Arabian Empire all before 1200AD and without it falling apart, sadly I put no end date so no achievements for me, anyways im a fan of your videos and keep up the good work and thank you for teaching me how to play while being entertaining!

@1:20 That makes sense, but honestly I'd maybe argue it's even more important to get the title revocation protection one, because I have played as this dude specifically and within like a few years your asshole king comes along and revokes a title, no warning, not even a chance to convert first/alternatively (obviously if you know this is coming you can preemptively convert--if you don't mind doing so to avoid this--I did NOT know that was possible and going to happen though the first time, when I learned this lesson). I THINK that's because, specifically Asatru and Catholicism, the Catholics consider you "evil" and being of the "Righteous" doctrine they can revoke titles without tyranny (and therefore, do so liberally when played by the AI and given any chance), so you can expect a title revocation attempt like immediately on that ground. Side note, I find it greatly amusing that the "savage heathen" Asatru are MORE tolerant/pluralistic (by doctrine, at least) religiously, than the "universal Catholic church." xD

Wow you can really tell how far your editing has come in 8 months! I think you’re the only streamer that integrates so many memes etc (a few use the same ones and not very effectively but you tell a story almost as well it’s great fun) and thankfully you have stopped scrolling in and out haha

if you start a murder scheme and claimant factor on day one, within about 15 months you can kill the reigning king and there will be around 3-5 people who join your claimant faction. from there you can press demands and either through battling or him just accepting you can easily become king. in the battle you are guaranteed to have atleast 3k men (thats if you havent already made a strategic marriage by divorcing your wife and marrying the local asatru guys heir etc) which is enough to beat erik as he has like 2k men.

When changing your feudal obligations, you should become a march aswell. Even though these effects are nearly only good for the vassal it is seen as a neutral change so you do not need a hook for it. Combined with the increase in tax level, you actually pay less duccets to your liege every month I belive that you also gain more levies, but I'm not sure

This start is pretty difficult, but Many A True Nerd's run as the Count of Aland under Erik was way harder. You don't start with any claim to the Kingdom of Sweden, you have way less troops, and you're still Asatru.

Oh man u should definatelly had continued this and conquered all of scandinavia, england, scottland and ireland and restored the north sea empire.. but anyways it was a really cool one can't wait to try it myself lul

You could just get rid of Scandinavian Elective if you don't like the way that vassals are voting.

I would recommend Forced Partition over higher taxes. You aren't getting better than Partition before you fix that

You should play as Edgar Wessex in England in 1066 start he and his sister are the last landed of house Wessex and both have a claim to the kingdom of England would be cool if as him you conquered england

Should have demanded conversion of your vassal to Asatru as soon as you got the kindgomd of sweden title they would vote for your candidate more eagerly and not join indepedent factions

This start is nowhere near the difficulty of the same Erik the heathen in ck2. The Swedish king just randomly imprisons you preventing you to make an heir. And you are allied to the king thus you cant enter into factions.

You should ask your courtiers to convert to your faith.

How is this a hard start? its THE second easiest way to get the scandinavian empire, only playing as king of Sweden with that humongus diplomacy, the raiding makes it easy told build up everything rather quick, and you people adore you beacuse of the prestige you get from battles from the people you wre raiding, and the warmonger tenet makes it easy to paint the entire northwestern part of the map ;D
