People don’t seem to want to change or see growth. Hatred comes in every way shape and form, we all change and I’d definitely believe many more people would change for the better if they had places to go, to disconnect their false thinking about certain people.

‘It’s underrated to talk about growth.’ Ain’t that the truth. Although, on the flip side, I wish we were in a position where honesty to this degree talking about changes and improvements in our own lives would be celebrated and/or barely acknowledged due to it happening so often. Basically a short conversation i imagine based on Race in America but with improvement on the way they go about life: ‘I used to be racist.’ Ok. Good for you Because widespread understanding: Progress in America > Fuller Realization of Democracy> Equal Standing measured by law > Slaves aren’t equal by nature of being owned> Free the slaves or Morality dictates ‘Do to others as you wish for yourself.’ A person’s only moral move is to do what can be done for those with an unequal standing. A free man owes the slave what he can do for them. A healthy person owes the sick what can be done. An educated man owes the ignorant what he can. A wise man can come to the realization that he is of no use unless he does what he can to improve life for others. or Race(prejudice) Hate > Discriminates based on something someone has no control over> Unjust practices will breed hate> Unjust actions creates dysfunction> A dysfunctional society breeds corruption Not all points apply to all slaves throughout history. On the other hand, some thought-process taken out to the full extent can lead to being open to self improvement.

@Hit Quixote growth applies to black people growing and being better as well. Idk if anybody is saying 'let's be forgiving of white people when they grow", but I can see how its implied. If that is what they're thinking, then yea, there may be some privilege there. But aba and preach talked about prejudices coming from any direction and talked about black people being jaded from their own negative experiences with white people. So anyone who's thinking about this in the context of onlynwhite people changing kinda missed their point.

I’m so glad you guys covered this topic. A lot of racist people were raised to be that way. I have a friend that I initially met while working at a cannabis club. The first year I stayed away from him and only interacted when I had to because he had a scary demeanor, and other coworkers told me he was racist. As time progressed we started talking more and that’s when he told me his story. His family is racist and raised him to believe all people of color are evil and dangerous. He believed it until he had a near death experience and when in the hospital he noticed all the doctors and nurses working so hard to save his life were of color. That’s when he realized all the lies he was told. He’s no longer racist and he’s a good friend of mine. It’s been 5 years since we met and I’m so proud of his story and growth.

As a kid I was playing with other children. Their culture or ethnicity didn't matter, they were just friends and playmates. Then in my tweens and teens I was constantly hammered with my alleged inherent racism and oppression of other groups because of crimes done by people I only shared pigmentation levels with that I had to atone for. Combine that with racism from other groups and I became embittered and resentful of these groups of people who were being spoon-fed the same propaganda and lies as me. It took alot of time to distance myself from it all and see that both the state and activist groups with vicious agendas were making both me and these groups hate each other. It's a fucking farce that is so exhausting that it's allowed to persist.

A previous time he was locked up he was put in a cell with a black man and he expressed his opinion of the guy and the dude in return was nothing but kind with him and talked with him and like made him realize they he was just as human as himself. after however long it took for him to come around dude had to call his daughter in tears telling her everything he ever taught her was wrong cause he raised her with a racist perspective. This was super simplified and doesn't do this mans story justice but it was a powerful thing to witness himself be vulnerable and choose to share this story with all of us. its just one of those things that always stuck with me and why i know everyone deserves a second chance in life. I think alot has changed now, especially for the younger generation as there is alot more diversity in these small towns. But when I was growing up these conversations you would hear when people are generalising a race, sexuality or culture and take that as fact bcos you knew no different. In fact, I remember when I was younger, my best friend was mixed but looked white. As soon as some parents in my school saw his mother, they tried to steer their kids away from him. It was vile to see, I'm lucky that my parents had travelled alot and always taught me to judge on characteristics instead of looks. Great video tho guys, people are so quick to cancel people who say this kinda thing but I feel its important to listen bcos it could shy them away from actually changing their mindset.

A sibling of mine got to see the other side, he drank the racist juice like water, got beat up a lot because of it and it only strengthened his racist feelings towards them. This has made me realize why I'm questioning myself ALOT recently. I have developed a lot of bitterness and reinforced stereotypes towards certain groups of people. My job is selling alcohol, and you don't meet the best people. They might be great people, but a lot of minor and major conflicts arise (I was threatened for telling someone to wear a mask). However, because of COVID, I've cut off my social outings in my life for almost 2 years. I have realized, I have effectively cut my exposure to people from different cultures that I am friends with, love, and appreciate or new people that I can meet in a positive setting. And now, I am kind of stuck with mostly REAL LIFE negative interactions that I am just now realizing are really spoiling my opinions of people. So it does pain me to admit, I am turning into a racist. While I'd love to go out and hang out, COVID scares the crap out of me. I felt all of its symptoms the first time, gave it to my family, felt I might become responsible for their deaths (we all survived thankfully), still feeling long-term effects, and I NEVER want that again or give it to my friends. While I don't try to filter what I see on the internet and expose myself to different things, real-life interactions seem to be affecting me more.

We have been friends since we were basically 5, even if we eventually fell out. Then, when i was 16, i realized he was black, half cuban to be precise. And i only realized it, and the weight of racism, when i studied it. Before that, the colour of his skin and his origin were just his way of being him. Racism is learnt, not born with, and it can be forgotten, with some effort. This is my same experience, im from Greece and one of my best friends going up Dimitri was of Jamaican origin. We would hung out all the time and i was 17-18 years old (when i first started getting aclimated with the concept of "race" as it pretains to todays environment) when i realized that he was "Black", i dont know how to explain this, like i realized before that that he had a darker skin tone than me but in Greece you have people of various shades so to me it was no different than another one of my friends who was blond, blue Eyes and had really fair skin while most my other friends and family were more than naturally. It was just another characteristic like height, hair color etc. It was only after i fell deep into the race rabit hole cause i wanted to get educated on peoples struggles that i made the realization. I dont know, i kinda wish i could revert my brain back to that time cause unfortunately once you start getting yourself into the rabit hole of "race" and the type of ignorance and hatred that exists it does make you jaded. Now i cant look at a Person and not chategorize them to be of a certain "race" anymore. Not that my behavior changes due to that but its just something my brain does now and wish i could go back... Then again i would be pretty native if i still had that mindset in my 20s.... But maybe its better being native. Kinda scatter brained reply but i related so much with what you said. Its like, the world forces you to subscribe to their ideas of hunanity, this shit is learned behavior Oh and lastly, race is fake science and a made up concept, thats why i kept using "" whenever i mentioned it. But that is a whole different discussion.

And saw them as weak and all ignorant all because I was taught to see them as somebody that thought they were better than me. Yes the judgements come from experiences and historical truths but however some of those judgements were exaggerated worse than how they actually are cause that's not the general population of whites not that I know of. This doesn't mean I don't see color this just simply means that I had to learn that some of the things I was taught were not true, exaggerated or just stereotypes. I am 16 most of this stuff I noticed around 4th grade so this ain't nothing new but imma open up about it so hopefully we can all speak on our thoughts. @@BernardBrunu1 he didn't mention any Scandinavia countries, Scandinavian countries are usually known as some of the richest countries in Europe while East Asian countries are typically stereotyped as shit holes, I honestly just think it's a matter of stereotypes and ignorance, and people aren't necessarily being racist or xenophobic when they have those stereotypes but those stereotypes do fuel xenophobia. Poverty is definitely relative, but it's also defined by the parameters you grew up in your society so a lower middle class person in America will still look rich to a lower middle class person in Ukraine while both these people would look rich to a lower middle class person in Southeast Asia

I didn’t have the same experience because university population is very diverse but my little sister had it hard. She have that weird behaviour where she will have different BD party because she said some of her friends can’t mix. I was always perplexed when she said that. But now I understand a little where this is coming from. Sorry you decided to to fucking steal from someone, but you had to have had that in your mind if you brought a firearm to a robbery unless you were the one being robbed. It is a frustrating contradiction of cancel culture. They want people to change their views but will happily cancel people who said something terrible 10 years ago, regardless of how much they have changed since then. Like, what is the point? Surely, this is exactly what you want. If you want people to change then don’t punish them for changing the way you wanted them to. On a similar note, if people are always guilty, regardless of how much they change, and are punished as such, then where is the motivation to engage with the movement? It is such a counterproductive perspective.

Education is key. Being around people who are different than you is key. Watching TV and thinking you're getting the gist of a situation is a disconnection. Also, going to college does not equal educated. It can certainly help... but again, exposure to that which is different as well as the WILLINGNESS/ DESIRE to be exposed to that which is different is key. Also, once you recognize your ignorance, what do you do with that information? Do you REMAIN in ignorance, or do you make adjustments to your character to GET OUT of ignorance.
