I was aware I was the duff in my friend groups but never minded so much. I think that’s mainly bc my friends weren’t the stereotypical b*tches. They were just living their best life, never treated me less than. Even the one I now call Krazy Kristen, when we would go clubbing she never let me hide in the shadows or be treated badly by people just trying to get to her. Altho she is crazy, she was a good friend in that aspect. Sorry you had b*tches! You’re better than that!

I disagree. The actresses for Heather Chandler and Chanel from Scream Queens are way worse than Regina. Literally, Regina could never live up to them.

Yeah, I thought she was being unfair to them. Her situation sucked, but they hadn't done anything wrong.

Yeah, her reaction was wild. I think it sort of made sense to her character though, it was a mix of insecurity, typical teen dramatics and rashness, and a lack of healthy, clear communication taught at home

@@KatieLHall-fy1hw If I would've found out I was the DUFF in high school, I would've celebrated. LOL. I was starting businesses in high school, and that type of recognition would've helped me a whole lot. Insecurity has never been a trait I've even associated with. People have called me ugly before, I've congratulated them on having eyes that work. If they called me stupid, I've told them I already knew that, good to know they caught up.

The woman who wrote the book The Duff said that she based it off the things that she was experiencing in high school. She was 17 when she wrote the book. Mean Girls isn't an original idea either. It was also based on a book.

@@ashleydowney1222 Yeah but I was talking about the movie ,not the plot of the story itself. Movie making and novels are different worlds .The author had pretty much no creative control concerning the movie making(except the writing ).Even the writing is most of the time modified by the screenwriter so it fits more to a cinematic audience , what’s written in the book is often not directly copy/paste in a movie … which was the case for this movie . It’s all on the the producers , but especially the director and the rest of the movie production team who’re responsable to set the tone , the vibe , how to display the humour etc. in the movie . That’s why if we took another director we wouldn’t have the same movie . Not every director has the same vision of a novel. I think Harry Potter is a good example of this . They changed the director many times over the franchise , but you could tell that not every single Harry Potter movie had the same vibe and spin to it even tough it’s from the same author. I am not saying that mean girls is a masterpiece or something ..but being able to “bring to life “ a novel is distinct to each movie director . The director of this movie was most likely inspired by the director of mean girls.

I loved the book. I didn't relate to it much as I had no friends in middle or high school. I didn't like the movie all. Mae Whitman definitely isn't ugly.

I’m the Duff for many of my friends (and my own sisters) too, but I actually love it as I’m older! I love being surrounded by all sorts of beauty and basking in it! 😎 (did not feel this way when I was younger though)

Yeah the movie is actually alright but it took me a little while to like it cos when it first came out I was disappointed because the book seemed so fresh and a new take on high school life and dealt with really hard, serious issues. In comparison the movie felt like they’d taken out all the things that made the book unique and kinda made a generic teen movie... but watching again I think it’s ok, just separate from the book! Haha!

No, they were probably looking for a normal girl. There is no ugly or pretty. There's a whole world between that, where most people live. And she should look like the duff, because that's the role she plays. I think she's cute, but a cute girl you would know in real life.
