It’s a poem by Charles Bukowski. Alluding to writers and artists mainly, as the best of them are obsessive compulsives. To sum it up, it means focus on your craft which you love doing. Don’t make excuses. Be ready to make sacrifices. As a writer, I read this poem every day. The modern world and its fast paced systems go against the grain of ‘Art’ and the artists life. Although it can be applied to every career, he speaks of isolation, mockery and rejection. These are things that a writer or painter faces. Though when you are in the process, it is the best thing you will ever feel. Doing what you want to do, on your own terms. J.K Rowling has alluded to it in the past. ‘Don’t give up on your dream’ is the main message, though he warns the price you pay. I’ve ruined two relationships because I am so obsessed with what comes out of my imagination and want to put it onto paper for all to see. RIP Charles Bukowski ✊🏻🥃🚬
