Just watched your TV series for the first time. I’m a meat eater but occasionally go veggie or even vegan. Your recipes look delicious and appetising and I will certainly make a few. Well done in your mission to get people to enjoy delicious plant based food. Barry Cashin
Hi guys!! I gave up using clingfilm over two years ago when I became vegan! What would you recommend using instead, to cover the dough as it rises? I would usually go with a damp tea towel- does that give the same result in this case??
They all look so good! I actually ate "chicken cheesesteak" being in NJ, never really loved the peppers and onions etc, but banana peppers, yessss! I'm still trying to perfect my seitan to make it just how I liked it!
I never used to like them. A few years ago all I could find was vegan cheese made from almonds. Way too sweet for me. Now I’ve found the “Violife” brand which is absolutely delicious, give it a try if it’s available where you live!
Night Angel It depends on what you want to use it for. I’ve found that adding yeast extract (marmite) to vegan cheese on toast will give it the stronger kick it needs. I’ve found two cheeses that I can tolerate uncooked: there’s an Applewood Smoked and also a caramelized onion version, which are passable. But, on the whole, the only cheese that starts to get close are the homemade ones that are allowed to ferment and mature naturally. Violife’s mediterranean style cheese is acceptable fried and put in a sandwich. Have you tried making any of the cheeses from ConniesRawsomeKitchen? Her channel has loads of options for cheese lovers. One thing I learned from commercial vegan cheese is that it’s basically just a slab of fat, like dairy cheese; neither are any good for you really.
Vegan "dairy" products, whether milk or cheeses, can take time to develop a taste for after having grown up with cow's milk, etc. Keep sampling and you should eventually notice a change in your taste-buds.
@@lynchinjesus fat that are consumed as part of a whole food are delivered to your system are delivered to your system in a totally different way than refined fats. Refined factor has been stripped of the surrounding nutrients and fibre can have a detrimental effect especially on arterial function. Doesn't matter where the fat came from. Bad arterial function can dictate many declines in health. In its whole foods package the body is also able to more correctly regulate the absorption of fat and how it moves through the body. You can find meta-analysis confirming these things now with research funded by groups that have no financial gain by the end result of the research. Here is one on olive oil nutritionfacts.org/video/olive-oil-and-artery-function/
Only three intervention studies reported hormonal effects of soy isoflavones in men. These recent studies in men consuming soyfoods or supplements containing 40--70 mg/d of soy isoflavones showed few effects on plasma hormones or semen quality. These data do not support concerns about effects on reproductive hormones and semen quality. (The National Center for Biotechnology Information )
Looks amazing! BUT, just because it looks good, doesn’t mean it tastes good. And be careful with vegan food, some of it is heavily processed and full of artificial or natural flavors and ingredients that isn’t even food.
jtuno122 The same goes for meats, animal products and food in general. Any diet can have unhealthy foods. Most of the recipes shown here are created from scratch using just vegetables and nuts. I think we’re old enough to know what’s good and bad for us. :)
I'd say that adding "vegan meat" is just lazy. If I want a vegan recipe based on that I just take any recipe and substitute. I liked this channel for surprisingly clever ways to make your own substitute.
What is the point in recreating meat/cheese when you can just buy the real thing no? If you are vegan just stick to vegetables? It does not make sense.
We do have the real thing. The real vegan meat. It's food, not plastic. We eat it because we enjoy the taste and don't enjoy causing horrendous violence to sentient beings. What is the point of a gingerbread man when you can just kill and eat a real human being? 😜
