Thank you so much for watching this video! I really love seeing the response every time a new one comes out. 🥰 Also, how freaking cute is Mary?? We’ve known her for so long and our friends are so happy she made the video. 🥹
Sarah, to make the cornbread a little more moist, substitute part of the cornmeal with prepared masa. The finer texture seems to keep it moist. I have been doing it for years, and will always. 😊
I used the recipe by the Café Sucre Farine blog! If you google “tortillas recipe” it should be one of the first that pops up. I just used melted vegan butter but I’m sure it would be great with olive oil too.
That's absolutely adorable when you were explaining when you lost power, playing video games and eating homemade food. This just shows that womderful food and company makes for an amazing night to remember ❤️
I just found your RU-vid channel and I love it love it love it, it makes me so happy to see young people living this lifestyle. I became a vegan when i was 15 in 1974, your videos are very well written and edited good job ❤
As always every meal you made look so delicious. I agree with you when it comes to keeping thanksgiving simple. Less clean up and stress is always good . After seeing your homemade tortillas I need to try making them! I hope you have a wonderful holiday season with your love ones.
Looking at meals like this really makes me think about how valuable learning to cook at home is. Any person would be hard pressed to find Gyoza like this anywhere! And here you are sharing this recipe making phenomenal food at home. Inspiring. Ive never made gyoza from scratch but would liked to try after watching this. I am pretty lazy, but damn these look so good
Sarah, so happy you are back! Thanks so much for posting this video!!! It's great to see these recipes because gets thoughts going on what to make next!
I love seeing you cook from scratch! I highly recommend Mary’s Test Kitchen video on dumplings. I used that recipe and it was very simple! Granted, my dumplings weren’t nearly as pretty as yours and Eric’s.
I definitely resonate with this video. I completely overextended myself to the point of exhaustion on Thanksgiving and I vow to NEVER do that again. I don’t like the thought of savory oatmeal and tho I love oatmeal I don’t make it as much because I’d have to eat it with some sort of sweetness and I just don’t want that flavor profile often for breakfast. I would love a dedicated video for the rolls. They look amazing. I was going to go down the rabbit hole if you will, of all your content because I was missing your cozy cooking videos. So glad to see this upload tho I’ll still watch more..like a chip..can’t see just one lol. TFS. You and Eric have a great holiday season and RELAX 🤗
Your Thanksgiving meals looks great. Going to try it in 2 weeks when my grandson comes over. All recipes I will be cooking in month of Jan 2024. Can you believe 2023 is almost over, 1 day left in 2023. Happy new Year 🎉🎉🎉
Sarah! I missed ya!! Thank you for making a new video :). I'm all about the mushroom stroganoff and will try it! I made your pumpkin streusel muffins last month and they were delicious and a big hit! Happy you two are thriving in Colorado, but do stay as warm as possible
so beautiful! i sometimes struggle to know what to cook everyday... but watching your video taught me to not overthinking it, you can actually create something so delicious with such a simple ingredients
I make the same dough for pierogie, flour, salt, oil, hot water. My Favorit filling is ruskie. Potatos, fried onoin, Quark (German dairy Product) butter salt and pepper. So good with a bowl of beetroot soup on the side.
you're my favorite vegan content creator for entertainment. the videos are so comforting to watch/listen to. I often have them on repeat while im working/studying or playing games. I'll be honest I haven't had the chance to try many of your recipes, but I'm sure they are delicous! I get most of my recipes from RainbowPlantLife, they are so good, and im a habitual eater so I often don't branch out enough. Your videos are comfort for my soul though :D
I love your videos - I don't cringe when you cut veggies as I do with other youtubers (afraid that they will hurt themselves). You're such a great cook - I learn so much from your videos.
Yumm!! I love that you make big batches and eat throughout the week because that’s so much less intimidating for me than cooking for every single meal!!
@SarahsVeganKitchen Loved, loved, LOVED everything here, Sarah! I'll be trying it all out (I may tweak a few things 'cause I'm THAT person 🤣). Holiday spreads have been my last holdout because of memories and traditions. Also, I love mushroom stroganoff, but I've made the vegetarian version...on to the vegan version now. It's so much easier than we've been given to think to eat flavorful and fully nutritious vegan meals. My inner and outer self thanks you for your contributions to fewer asthma attacks, weight loss, and better health overall. Happy Holidays to you and yours!💞💞💞
@@SarahsVeganKitchen you’ve inspired to make my own gyoza. Since my son can’t have store bought ones due to being gluten free and he absolutely loves them.
Thanks for the vid. I live in MN and I struggle with the short dark winter days too. Soup definitely helps! As well as walks in nature (no matter the weather), lots of hot tea, sleeping later, daily meditation, epsom baths, seeing friends regularly, and my happy light when there are too many gray days in a row. Sending you sunshine and good vibes. ☀😎💛
Just the cozy video I needed. I moved to Portland in June, so it's my turn this year to be extra SAD without sun for days on end. 😮💨 I've alao missed the podcast. Hope you guys can find the time for another episode soon! Happy holodays 🎉
You don't need a tortilla press if you want to try the corn tortillas first. You just need a piece of plastic folded in half (I use large a plastic food bag), oil/non stick spray and something flat to squash them with (I use the lid of a pyrex dish). Spray the plastic, put a ball of tortilla dough on it, fold the plastic in half so the ball is sandwiched. Then squash the covered ball with the flat lid or pan
You are one of my favorite vegan cooks. Your food is so comforting and homestyle, your recipes are not made impossible to watch by being too full of self-focused blather.
I'm not sure if it's magic, but all of your food looks sooooo delicious!! That Friendsgiving dinner was off the charts. 😋😋 One year my mother and I decided to just make soup and bread for Thanksgiving. One of the best dinners we had. I'm trying to make it a yearly tradition but mom is still trying to cook waaaay too much food 😁
This is exactly what I needed to watch today, thank you Sarah. Hope you have a wonderful day ❤️❤️ Btw that shirt at 5:50 is so cool!! Where did you get that??
This was truly a vegan comfort food recipe video if I've ever seen one. So many great recipes and everything looks so delicious! Thank you and Happy Chanukkah :)
I made the mushroom stroganoff a few days ago and it was AMAZING! My daughter and I couldn’t get enough of it. We put it over jasmine rice and just kept saying WOW as we were eating it🤣
How funny …I was literally thinking about you and when your next video would be out - and here it is. Loved it. Full of amazing recipes and inspiration. Thanks.
I love your videos. Always get the ideas what to cook next :D I'm definitely gonna make your vegan broccoli cheddar soup and this mushroom stroganoff! They look soo soo comforting. Perfect for current weather conditions that we have in Poland.
Ciao and thank you very much for your very nice Video, i wish you all a good new week, many greetings from a veggie from brunswick in germany and please stay safe 🙃
Everything looks delicious! Think I'll make the broccoli cheddar soup for weekly stew/soup next week :) We do have really nice cheese flavoured vegan cream where I live, so might add that, bcs I'm out of nooch...
Love your style of video, so much brill of cooking with the voice over and I love listening to your voice haha! You’ve inspired me thank youuu. Love your recipes also 💚
It all looks sooooo delicious. My favorite kind of food. I use 1 small unsweetened Kite yogurt instead of applesauce in my cornbread. Really good. Thank you for your wonderful recipes! Happy Holidays!
Hi Sarah, I'm pretty new to your channel and I've been really enjoying your videos. You and Eric are so lovely together and it's really nice seeing how you encourage & support each other, you seem a really nice couple, I wish we were friends! 😊 Love watching you cook and the cheddar & brocoli soup looks yummy! I do like cooking and creating new things but I've let it slide a bit over the past year or so, I'm trying to make more of an effort after watching you. Sometimes I'm just not in the right mindset especially if I'm feeling low then I always tend to go with too many carbs 😕 which are my downfall really. Anyway, I'm glad I've found your channel. Sorry for rambling xx
Savory oatmeal is my default now. My wife didn't care for sweet oatmeal and convinced me to try making a savory version. It's the only way I can get her to eat it regularly. It's stupid easy. I heat 6 cups of water in the microwave for 6min then mix a giant glob (2 tbs?) of vegetable base to make a broth. Chop up a couple sweet onions and saute those in my instapot. While that's cooking I chop up a 8oz of mushrooms and cook those for a bit. Keep the onions and mushrooms stirred and scraped off the bottom of the pot. Add a little broth before they burn, then throw in another 2c of water, 1.5c steel cut oats, and 1/2 tsp of light salt. Cook on high for 5min and natural release. Add a handful or two of craisins, stir and let cool in pot or container. It will thicken. When reheating I like to add some soy milk for creaminess and sometimes I'll microwave a couple handfuls of greens in my bowl first. Can also add nutritional yeast or crushed walnuts. 8c water 2 medium onions 8oz mushrooms 2tbs veg base 1.5c steel-cut oats 0.5tsp light salt handful of craisins
yeah i love adding field roast sausage to stuffing. Im sure beyond sausage is good too, where i live its only sold frozen tho so its harder to cook, and it has so much extra oil which idk if its necessary. the field roast seems a tiny bit healthier from the ingredients but i still love the flavor
Hello Sarah, I love your videos. Re morning congee - have you tried adding Yondu to oats on the stove? You could add sliced vegetables (cabbage, mushrooms or sliced carrots into matchsticks) and tofu for something heartier, and top with fresh green onions or coriander if available. I usually cook the oats with water plain and add on top a drizzle of sesame oil, soy sauce, pepper (preferably white) and if you have some, vegan fish sauce or seasoning sauce (Maggi, Golden Mountain?). Have a lovely season ahead.
Congee is awesome, especially for cold winter. I fell in love with it the moment I found out this thing exists (it isn't too well known here in Central Europe :D ). I am not vegan, but I do meat (with meatballs and fish sauce), vegetarian (with eggs and veggie bouillon), and vegan versions (with seaweed or miso, sprouts, and sometimes tofu), and they are all good! It's exactly the recipe where even we meat-eaters don't need meat at all, which is great because I am trying not to eat it so often (hence my following your channel). And I think it will also work very well with vegan meat substitutes, although I haven't tried those. By the way, Sadia from Pick Up Limes had variants of savoury oatmeal on her channel, and it seemed worth trying (especially the chipotle one), although I hadn't gotten to try that myself yet.
Did you guys take down when you both cooked together, Eric made a meatball sub and you a mushroom cashew pasta; that was my comfort video 😢; hope you put it back up 🤍
Taking a vitamin D pill and trying to get as much sun as you can helps with the seasonal depression! Also peanut butter helps me too!😅 just remember magnesium and vitamin D!
Love your channel! It's my new favorite ❤ Your voice is super calming. I'm the same with seasonal depression 😕 The cold and getting dark at 430pm really messes me up.
Sarah I really enjoyed this video 😊 Unfortunately I’ve never been much of a soup fan. I know soup is nutritious and great for cold days but I just wasn’t into it. However my tastes have changed quite a bit in the four years I’ve been a vegan so I’m going to give your soup a try. Wish me luck. Thanks for the recipes!
Sarah, your Thanksgiving feast looks delectable. Congratulations on such an impressive dinner. You sound so calm in the video but I can only imagine that you had to be, at least a little bit stressed, with all of that going on. I don't know if you have time to answer my question or not but . . . I love seitan and, despite being a skilled and experienced vegan cook, I just cannot seem to get it right. It always comes out hard and rubbery. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Too much wheat gluten? Too much needing? Not enough steaming? I have no idea, but I know you are a methodical cook so I feel certain you might have had some tweeking to do before you got it down pat. Any tips you can offer me would be greatly appreciated. And thank you for all the warmth, tranquility, and inspiration you bring to us through your channel.
Leftover bean & veggie soup is one of my favorite breakfasts. Keeps me full for hours, much longer than oatmeal. Oatmeal gives me hearburn, which is weird.
I have a hard time eating oatmeal in general,. The texture can be challenging for me and I, too, don't really crave sweet breakfasts. This morning I made Mark Bittman's salt and pepper steel cut oats. I really enjoyed it! I had some sauteed spinach on the side.
Everything is amazing that you make! And totally agree with you about Thanksgiving cuisine. I want to change it up next year. Maybe some vegan baked ziti or something.
Those recipes look delicious! Can't wait to make them! You give me so many ideas ! Thanks. Those homemade tortillas are also chapatis I've made them many times.
I really like watching Vegetarians offering meal alternatives. But almost every one of them seem to spend their time just cooking their meals; very hard to find some vegan meal prep for a week when you work a 9-6+ everyday.
lovely as always!!! I would suggest you try and up the oil content in your tortillas and making them thinner. that's how we make them in the north of mexico :))
We have been making our own tortilla's for about 8 years - on the rare occasion we buy them from the supermarkets, they are so plasticky - so much more fun to make your own (and if it's anything like us, messier because they do occasionally fall apart lol)
If you're looking for a good savory oatmeal recipe, look at Plant Based RD's "Savory Oatmeal with Pan Seared Tofu". It's my favorite oatmeal recipe ever! It tastes like ramen and oatmeal had a baby.
