I will never forget my hearing them for the first time in "Rose Marie" when I was about 8 yrs old. I fell in love with them and have remained a life long fan. I am now almost 70. Love them dearly.
@@maureensinclair5082 I'm 73 now and have all their movies together on DVD now as well as all the ones they made individually. I found LP albums like the ones I listened to at night when I went to sleep. I was a real goner for this couple and nothing has changed and my children are hooked as well. They are timeless and am so grateful for Sharon Rich and her team for all they have done to bring the truth about them alive. I even have signed photos of Jeannette and Nelson when I wrote to them in Highschool. Jeannette's autographed photo looks genuine and she addresses me by my first and last name. It was a lovely later photo of her and a prized possession.
as a young man I scoured the movie houses of London looking for their films in the 1930s now i watch this and long for my departed wife of 58 years so miss her, Such memories Thank you :)
I am 91 married 62 years. Listening to Nelson and Jeanette just brings me closer to my beloved John. Lost now for 8 years. I cry 😢 longing to be happy again! This song helps!
I was born in 1956 twenty years after this production. Have loved their music from when I first watched their film Rosemarie as a child. Their music is timeless.
Jeanette MacDonald has the most expressive face I've ever seen. You can tell exactly what she's thinking, just by the look in her eyes. And she has a beautiful voice too.
I love watching this clip over and over again. Such a beautiful, haunting song. Their love for each other is so apparent. My gran introduced me to Jeanette's movies. 60 years on and I'm still a big fan.
I am so pleased a new generation has discovered this enchanting genre in early Hollywood, but especially the inspired performances of Jeannette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy whose voices betray a love for one another that would persist in spite of all obstacles, including their own foolish ambitions.
Soooo fantastic..heard them sing as i was a child..never could forget this HAUNTING INDIAN LOVE CALL. With them both singing it..now im old And still love this haunting song and both of them so in love singing it..FANTASTIC SONG.🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎤🎵🎶🎵🎤
Absolutely sublime! A truly iconic moment in Hollywood history. What chemistry between those two! Jeanette was born in a house (it's still there!) in West Philadelphia just a mile or so from my own home! Nelson, although born in Rhode Island, moved with his mother in childhood to Philly and grew up here and took voice lessons in Philadelphia.
I am 71 and was blessed that my Mom loved old movies from the '30's and '40's, so I grew up watching them. I have seen all their films many times, but this sing still gives me goosebumps and makes me tear up😥
That is so cool...its November 2021..so ur 25 now!!! I'm so thrilled to hear s young person loves their music....I'm 73 now and my mother introduced me to them....she was 91 when she passed away and left me her scrapbooks...old 78 albums...and even paperdolls!!! Whenever my grandfather visited our house, he would play this tune for us on the piano. We had it performed at his funeral. It brings back fond memories from many years ago. Thanks!
It's not possible for me to be more moved when , I listen to those two sing knowing how much love they have for each other ,and she kisses his hand ,, WOW great stuff here ... God Bless
One of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written. Rudolf Friml was a genius. Known for so many American shows and films, he was a Czech composer.
The Hollywood studio at the time were nothing short of tyrannical, not only holding the power to ruin a player's career but actually threaten their lives if they didn't tow the line. Nelson's car was forced off the road, for example, when he refused to bow to Louis B. Mayer's command to stay away from Jeannette MacDonald. As a result Mayer did all he could to trash Nelson's reputation, but nonetheless, true music lovers recognized Nelson Eddy's soulful performances and his brilliance as probably our finest baritone of the 20th century Hollywood is finally getting the recognition he should have gotten in the first place. A great talent to be named after.
goulston36 Yes me too, but also with my Mom. My sister and I would be tucked in our beds at the cabin and you could hear the crackling fire while they played the album. Such wonderful memories with wonderful music!!
One of the most beautiful love songs I have ever listened to. The duet the singers make is simply wonderful. Each one of them is a great Singer on their own but together the result is spectacular. The girl not only is a good Singer she is a beautiful lady too. And the man is very well chosen manly and good looking. What a fantastic couple they made.
Tonight I came home from an okay night at the pub. I suddenly got this melody in my head, and realized that I hadn't listened to this song in years. Listening to it again sparked the same joy and emotions as if I were listening it to the first time again...
My German-Irish grandmother loved Jeanette MacDonald & Nelson Eddy. When I was a wee lassie, I got a crush on Nelson Eddy, mostly because this grandma who died years before I was born supposedly loved him so much. I recall the Firefall at Yosemite was done to the Indian Love Call, although I was too little to know. My big sister told me later.
Simply beautiful. One does not usually hear this quality in voices frequently nowadays. And the voices are so well matched the result is worth listening to and enjoying it.
Disc-jockey internacional. Gracias.
They certainly made magical movies. No matter what may or may not have been the state of their private lives, no one can deny their on screen chemistry. Thanks again Baz for this little bit of magic. Di
Just this past week I counted 493 offerings of Indian Love Call on RU-vid. It certainly has a lot to do with this version making it "immortal" since it's been 81 years ago that it was filmed with Jeanette and Nelson creating their "magic".
She had the most beautiful opera-atic voice Ive ever heard......He had a wonderfull strong sexy voice...Too listen to them is Joy too my ears......No other comes close to perfection as they did....
Yes I think it's obvious that they were deeply in love. The voice is connected to the heart, and the heart doesn't lie. I have recently revisited their movies and it seems to me with the publication of "Sweethearts" which reveals their true tragic love story, that the world is finally getting the chance to support the love they had for one another versus the tragic sham they were forced into for Hollywood, marrying the wrong people.
Yes! They were passionately in love with one another. The studios tried to circulate a bogus rumor they couldn't stand each other, but now we know they shared an epic love affair until death.
i playd that song since I vas a kid and was alone home - from my parentts records. Then and now i touched by that lovely song ons Jeanett mac. and Eddy. So romantic !!! :)
very beautiful I learned of these talented singers from my dad how he loved opera and nelson eddy. i remember so well him singing this he had a beautiful voice like mr eddy. I miss him so very much death is terrible😥
Well said lads, and all who sail in her, but i've got to agree with Christine here, I first heard them two when I was 14 and fell in love with the song....Feck me that was yonks ago...xx
growing up in a pacific island long ago, these two bigger than life people thought us kids and grown ups too that modern civilization has beauty and goodness to offer also....
As a child, many a time was spent watching their movies. Maytime , my favourite. I want indian love call played at my funeral. Sorry if you view that comment morbidly, its not meant that way. I love them so much. Im glad a grew up with their songs and films. At 12 i could sing like her.
Dear Baz: Thank you so much for your wonderful video artistry. Indian Love Call most certainly was Jen and Nelson's signature song, one that only they could give such beautiful interpretation. I never get tired listening to it over and over again, coupled with the images from Rose Marie. Just love your new channel. Maria Escano
Beautiful, just beautiful, finally song Indian Love Call, couldn't remember which movie, now my memories have been refreshed, Rose Marie. All their movies were so entertaining, I always enjoyed watching them growing up.
The first time I heard this Aria from the movie ROSE MARIE, in 1950, a Remarkable pair of Nelson eddy and Jeanette Mac Donald as you go through them then fall into the nostalgic in
La llamada de amor del indio. Qué música... que voces... Y qué recuerdos más bellos de mi adolescencia... Nelson Eddy y Jeannete Mc.Donald. Qué pareja...INOLVIDABLE
