Thank you for this video, while camping, with my C-Class RV, caught COVID and thus parked my RV at my usual place and drove back to my house, which is a little more than two hour drive, about 45 minutes away from home my QX60 lost all power. Finally got her started again and cruised slowly home. Ran my OBDll and had a P0101. Cleaned my MAF sensor, did exactly what you did in your video for the throttle body. Cleaned everything, air filter, MAF and throttle. Works like a charm and bad on me for not changing my air filter sooner, it was dirty as hell. Thank you for people like you who are taking their time to educate us, for me you saved me about 700$ from the dealership. Will do this every 15,000km. Easy, simple and very efficient. Thank you again. I truly appreciated your guidance in this maintenance.
No problem at all! Sounds like you had quite the ordeal! It's amazing what these few things (filter, MAF, throttle body) really affect the operation of the car. Awesome to hear that everything worked out and your SUV is working a lot better now. I hope you've had a quick and painless recovery from covid too!
Thank you for this video. I did this today and could not have done it without this video. I ran i into an issue removing one bolt from the throttle body. It got stripped as i was trying to loosen it. Ended up having to drill into the bolt to release the throttle. Replaced the bolt with an oem part for like $2 something . That was scary. Lol. I also had to remove the front part in front of the engine cover. It made everything easier to access.
Wow, that is a terrifying ordeal. Glad to hear you were able to work it out...a lot of people would have been stumped in that situation. Glad to hear you got it done and my video was helpful. I also agree...taking off the front air dam is easy and makes the job easier. I really wish I had done it for this video. Thanks again for the great feedback. I always like hearing stories like this.
Hey man! Thanks for making these videos. I had a full time great Mechanic but have since moved and is having a blast working on my own vehicle. I got hit with the MAF code. I decided to clean it because I read online somewhere that there is no replacement date for MAF. That did nothing. I followed your video pretty closely I didn't take the engine cover off however. It was a really easy process thanks to your directions. I am absolutely amazed at how well my JX35 is driving. It hasn't drove this well ever! I took it on my short drive and punched it and was extremely surprised and how quickly it shifted. So much more power! Thanks for the great content.
Hey thanks for the great feedback! Glad you found the videos and they've been helpful. It's crazy how something simple as a dirty MAF or throttle body can have such an affect on the car. Sounds like it is like a night-and-day difference...awesome!
@tiskeith01 sound similar to performance issues I have been with my qx60 since I day I bought it. did you clean just MAF or both with throttle body? Any other tips?
this exactly what I am looking for. thank you so much for this. My pathfinder sometimes hesitates to start and have a p0101 code. tried cleaning the maf sensor but the problem comes back.I have replaced the maf sensor and hopes that solves the problem. my question is if I want to clean the throttle body will it be posible if I do not disconect it from the throttle? I mean withour taking out the 4 screws.? Im kind of afraid I might strip thread. Im glad to have found your channel. thanks
It is possible, but it will not be as effective. Better than not doing it at all though. Just do it exactly as seen in the video, except taking off the throttle body. Spray some TB cleaner and clean as best as possible. DO NOT LIFT UP THE THROTTLE PLATE. It can damage the throttle body motor itself, so I cannot stress this enough. Just spray fairly generously and use a clean, lint free cloth and a soft brush if needed to clean it. You will not be able to get the back, where the carbon build up is, but it will still get a lot from around the moving parts. It will make a difference, and if all goes well, will hopefully take care of the code too.
@@NexusAuto after replacing the air cleaner and MAFsensor the p0101 code went back after a week. I will he proceding on cleaning the TB and hope that will fix the p0101 code.
Do you ever get some real stupid questions? This is not one of those times LOL. Your suggestion is definitely the way to go..there is no need to remove the MAF. Not sure why I went through the extra trouble. Very good question...do not bother with removing it.
Hi. I saw your video is great 👍🏻.my qx60 2019 make rought noise and feels like vibration when it going 40mph , press gas pedal problema gone go back to 40mph same problems
Thanks. That issue could be a lot of things, and it is hard to say without being there to drive the car. Could be something like a tire out of balance, bad alignment, to a transmission issue, to the throttle body being dirty, like in this video. You should have it checked.
Thanks for the video. My 13 jx35 has the p0101 code hard stored. Change the air filter it was dirty. Reset code and the p0101 is hard stored. Showing it’s present on the code reader but no CEL yet. If it pops back up during driving I’ll have to try this
Thanks for the video. I am thinking of cleaning the Mass flow sensor (engine warning light P0101). Would I need to reset the throttle positions or anything?
Unless it is in a really sad state, you shouldn't need to. It is possible that it may have to be, but I have never had to, and I dont know anyone with a 3800 engine who had to.
Typically no, it should all reconnect with no issues. Sometimes, very very rarely, you may get a check engine light. If you do, disconnect the battery, wait about an hour, then reconnect it and go for a drive. But this is a rare circumstance. I've done tons of TB cleans on a variety of makes (German, American, Japanese, Korean) and never once got a code. But it can happen
@@NexusAuto yes its a intake hose. Its broke off a valve solenoid. Well 2 are broke off. A Facebook group told me the tabs were gone. I wish I could put pictures here. Their small vacuum hoses I assume.
@@NexusAuto I'm also now trying to figure out if the piece I need to the left is called a valve solenoid? It looks to have a brown plug on top. That's where the tabs broke. I have to replace that and the hoses. What would I look for to get these parts? And is it difficult to replace?
@@brendacalderon9445 Oh gotcha. I think you may be talking about the vent control valve. It is for the Evaporator system. If that is the case, then you need the evap vent hoses and the maybe the vent control valve or the harness, depending on where they broke
Hello Nexus, I have an Infiniti QX60 2017, I get a traction control light on. Nissan want $1,200 to fit it, saying that it need a resistor kit to be added. crazy . Do you have any comments on that? thank you.
Wow. That is crazy! Unfortunately, I need much more information to even give a suggestion on that. They must have gotten a DTC (Diagnostic code) that led them to a resistor kit. As for the resistor kit, I don't know of any thing off the top of my head that would fit this. Did they say where this resistor kit would go? In the IPDM/fuse box? Any info you can get me would help. Not sure if I can answer this from here, but depending on the info I Get, it may be possible
@@NexusAuto Thanks for replying back, I will have to get more info on where this "resistor kit" will actually go. the System ABS, DTC stored in the system was C1116 this is for the Stop LAMP SW (maybe SW for Switch) pn: 4766-9PP3D. Thank you.
@@edssantiago5761 that's great info. I think I know what they may be replacing, based on the info you provided. There is a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) out for this code and issue. Check it out here static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2019/MC-10158419-9999.pdf There is mention of a resistor being installed here. If this is what I'm seeing, I see why the price is so high. Looks like it's all labor work...part would be relatively cheap. But the TSB does show all the steps needed to fix the issue. This looks like what Infiniti is aiming at
You do not need to, unless there is an error. But it would not hurt to do it. It would be good to replace the MAF then drive the car for a bit, then clean the throttle body. This way, if an issue shows up, you can determine if it is related to the MAF sensor or Throttle Body
For the official answer, yes you need to disconnect the battery, and you may have to reprogram the cpu/ecm after completion. The reality is that I did not disconnect the battery, but I do that knowing it is at my own risk. Also, I have done dozens of these throttle body cleanings on various models and never once have i needed to reprogram anything...the car will, most times, relearn on its own. That said, It can still come up, so be prepared.
@@josephnguyen9504 I didn't open up the butterfly as it is not completely necessary and opening a fly-by-wire throttle body can be a risky venture, depending on the car. 99% of the issue with FBW throttle bodies is the carbon build up on the front and back of the butterfly, and around the air flow area, so that is always what I focus on. It will get the job done for sure
Could be a variety of issues. Could be an vacuum leak, a compression leak, air intake issue (throttle body, MAF, really dirty air filter, etc), bad gas, ignition issue (bad coil, bad spark plug(s)). so many potential causes. It would need to be diagnosed. If you are talking that the erratic idle started after the throttle body cleaning, then the issue is the computer needing to be reset, which can be done with an advanced ODBII scanner or disconnecting the battery for an hour or two.
@@NexusAuto Thank you, I watched the video, everything is clear.I will clean it on the day off.I am watching your channel in Russia, a very good and useful channel. Thanks again.

My QX60 transmission starting to act weird in automatic mode(shuddering going from 1st to 2nd gear), I switch it to manual and works normal, RPM's go up and down while idling. Turns out my MAS sensor is giving an error, I just bought a new replacement at the dealer. Does it have to be programmed? Or there a specific procedure that must be followed when replacing it? TIA
@@amoryunidad ah perfect. You got it, it is super easy to do. No programming required, and no real special procedures. Just disconnect the wire harness, undo the 2 screws, take the old one out, and install the new one. The special instructions is just in the handling. The MAF sensor is very sensitive. Do not drop it and when installing it, do so carefully. Its not hard at all, just treat is gently. All in all, with no hiccups, it would take about 10 mins to do. You may have to reset the throttle settings, which I made a video on a few weeks ago. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2gkjBXIGqbE.html
@@NexusAuto thank you so much! I've just replaced the MAS sensor and reset the throttle body, what a difference, it did some shuddering at in the first two accelerations. Problem is gone, driving like new right now. Side note: fuel economy was 19.4mpg and dropping before replacing it. Now I'm at 21.3 mpg!
It would be fairly easy to replace. the throttle body for sure. You may have to perform a relearn procedure, but aside from that, it is definitely doable.
