Inline skating exercise for speed and jumps, by City Skater Bill Stoppard. The best skaters work out to strengthen supporting muscle groups. This lift is the one legged dead lift; great for inline speed and rollerblading jumps. Stronger legs will enable you to be the best inline skater possible.
Inline skates used Bauer RX 20 hockey skates. Thanks to Gardio Go's 'King West Club' for the use of downtown Toronto's best gym.

Since I watched this video I've incorporated it in my routine and holy shit it helps, sometimes when jumping I feel weightless, upload more exercises please!

Great idea... after watching, I tried doing something like this on ice at a public skate the other day. The other skaters must have thought I was nuts, but after working a bunch of one legged squats I started to feel insanely grounded, like I couldn't put my feet wrong... not something I usually feel on a pair of nearly worn-out Bauers. Thanks for the ideas... always enjoy your vids.

Great idea for a vid A. I almost shot that tutorial on the weekend but traffic got me skittish and I changed the video premise. Stay tenacious; most important attribute of a city skater. Thanks for the suggestion roll-addict!

I'm doing this exercise every other day. Without weight for now. And Yoga for tight hips.

Yep, perfect skating exercise! If you're looking for a extra challenge and also want to work on more stability and balance, try this exercise in untightened skates without weights.

Hi, greetings from Mexico, nice video. I used to skate in my free time, but one time i was hit for a car and i had to stop skating, now I´m felling better but before i back to skate i want to try some exercise for have strong legs and abs, Can you please recommend me other exercises?

hey Bill im just getting into skating, about to buy my 1st pair of hockey inline skates. My issue is i have had 3 knee surgeries (all meniscus tears) and my quad is and knee is not the strongest. I would really appreciate it if you were to make a video showing good exercises to both loosen up and prepare to skate as well as good exercises that strengthen your lower body (especially knee and quads) while skating that can minimize injuries . I have thus far been unable to find anything really on these issues and you seem to know alot about the muscle groups used during skating. Love your videos keep them up!!

Extremely profesional videography thx!!! Can you recommend me an all terrain purpouse skates. U said on a vid hockey ones with bigger front Wheel, high to low Axel , right? but wich mm should I get . I wanna buy a pair n don´t now how to search for them. I used to skate on black/purple roller derby streets back in the early 90´s but those where so slow n zero shock absorption lol. I don´t have to much money but maybe I can get a used ones. Thx

Hey Bro , ive watched your videos a couple of times and love the way you skate. im tryingt o teach myself to skate and i can tell you im not one to give up until ive accomplished my goal. but my main issue is my form, i get tired to quick and dont get very far. i wanted to know if you could make an (DETAILED) video of how to get proper form for skating and jumping on/off curbs etc. this would help me soooo much.im just to anxious im what you call a possible skate maniac in the making.

Hey Bill and other inline skating maniacs and maniacs in training (me). Is it pretty normal for a beginner to have lower back pain and soreness? I don't see how it is affecting my lower back when I'm not bent down too far. I do regular stretches and strengthen on my lower back. I just wonder if my form is wrong, or is this normal thing for a beginner since my muscles are not used to it?

SeanKimStyle I started skating at the beginning of this summer. At the beginning i had lots of low back pain. I just chalked it up to it needing a bit of exercise. Within a month or so of many skates it hurt less and less until finally it disappeared altogether. If the pain doesn't go away shortly after skating you may want to get it looked at. I'd say use your best judgement, but in my experience some low back pain was just part of being a beginner.

Hey have you updated your training? Im after long break and my legs are weak. Wanted to prepare them for inlines. Do you still recomend 1leg deadlift. What about squats?
