The entire world praised the military and Aung San Suu Kyi, when power was passed on to the democracy icon after 50 years of military dictatorship. One year later she defended an ethnic cleansing and had isolated herself from the public. This film tells you why.

What's even more sad about the whole situation is how largely forgotten the coup has become in international news. Democracy truly died in darkness in Myanmar.

Aung San Suu Kyee has always been a defacto leader without virtual power. Myanmar needs the totally new democracy leader who can unite the different ethnic groups against the junta government.

Great documentary! Thank you for making it! But I'm confused. When was this made? It doesn't cover the military coup (famously captured by a fitness instructor's video), so it is at least 3 years old. I would like to know so that I can find out what has happened since then.

A single dictator cannot make right decisions all the time So we need distribution of power and sometimes, even democracy can go wrong as the majority can be wrong about issues. We need certain checks and balances to guide democracy onto the right path For example, constitutional laws that protect the rights of minorities and freedom of speech, etc. I wish Myanmar a bright future

Military atrocities against Rohingya is a crime. But to expect Aung Sang Suu kyi to condemn the military in the way the outside world wished is impractical. How can you cut the very branch you are sitting on? Aung San Suu Kyi is a true hero who devoted her whole life to the country and the people she loved. She can reconcile many ethnic groups to build unity in Burma/Myanmar. ♥♥♥ Aung San Suu Kyi never committed ethnic cleansing. The Myanmar military put her in front of that problem. The Myanmar military is the one who committed ethnic cleansing.

It also shows you how fragile international support actually is and also how military juntas which doesn't know how to reform in the right direction would ultimately fail. Sustainable liberal democracy is only achievable in a country with relative stability and has achieved a certain degree of educational, economic and infrastructural institutional development. Military governments needs to realize that in modern state, overall state security is dependent upon it being able to share powers and responsibilities with crucial civil institutions for survival. Case in example, Prussia , Meiji Japan and military government of South Korea . These government all has military military a decisive role in the shaping of public policy, sometimes detrimentally, but they were comparatively more successful as senior military leaders know when to share power with private enterprise, universities, government departs and central bank. This is not only crucial for a modern state but a for a military to fight and win a modern war. r

She did not defended an ethnic cleansing, the accusation is pointed to the country but not the Myanmar Military. Those days, the NLD Government did not have the full authority because 25% seats were holding by the Military. It is not as simple as the documentary you posted. Those criminals charges are being responsible by only the Military (Min Aung Hlaing). Since the Military Coup 2021, you can see that Myanmar Military are killing teachers, doctors, engineers, students, and even child and pregnant woman. Our civilian people Myanmar are fighting the terrorist Military Group ( Min Aung Hlaing) without significant help from the neighbors countries and United Nations. the whole picture or Myanmar political about over 70 years is not as simple as the film. Please stop accusing 79 years old , Aung San Suu Kyi who is being imprisonment by the terrorist military Group Min Aung Hlaing without justice.

I am living in Thailand. I remember, when during her presence in power, she starts killing people without any trail and court , people of Thailand were shocked and outraged by her dictatorial rules .

I wonder what would be the situation today if she had openly raised an alarm against the genocide of the Rohingyas and involved the international community in getting rid of the junta leaders by putting them in jail and appointed her own trusted member in the military leadership with the help of the UN troops of peacekeepers.
