I trained in Krav in Las Vegas with the famous Donavin Britt, we were taught to avoid fighting at all cost, if you can’t do that, then end the fight as quickly as possible. A lot of guys studying different disciplines don’t consider Krav a martial art and I would agree, there’s nothing “artistic” about it, it’s brutally effective.

@sail4life
@sail4life 3 года назад
@@m3cha131 Stop an opponent, that's why it's called a self-defense style, not a martial art. There is no below the belt in Krav, ears, eyes, groin, breaking fingers, everything is allowed. If you want to fight, do MMA.
@larrysalinas4507
@larrysalinas4507 3 года назад
Krav Maga is self defense. It’s not meant to be offensive but rather defensive. You can cross train with MMA or other martial arts then you can be more offensive but Krav Maga is anything goes, low shots, grappling, combatives, etc. Techniques are meant to be quick and simple to more complex and dangerous. Not about points but doing what you have to do to get home.

I like the concept of striking with the palm of the hand, instead of making a fist.
@jasonleon1976
@jasonleon1976 5 лет назад
Coming from a boxing background, I was sceptical about this technique. However, logically it makes sense. You can hit a wall harder with your palm than your fist (with no broken knuckles), Less chance of deflection, will catch your attacker off guard and (in my opinion) more accurate. I like to mix up conventional striking with palm striking depending on the situation. Non the less, a very good skill to have in your defence armoury.

Palm strike also lines up the bones of the forearm, requires less conscious effort to keep from injuring your wrist. Done boxing and martial arts and it makes good sense to palm strike. Especially on the street with no gloves or mouth pieces, a "fight bite" is a HUGE injury. Teeth especially if they break are fekkin sharp and loaded with bacteria. Saw an investigation show where the killer was caught because he had a fight bite from his victim and nearly lost his hand....justice served by bacteria

Then you have no clue about real Krav Maga my friend, as what you see here, doesn’t even come close. And as a starter system to what? Please don’t say MMA because real Krav is for the battlefield, or in life or death situations…..it isn’t for the ring. And you say for women or older people? You seriously don’t know what you’re talking about do you lol. Do some research on real Krav Maga as devised for the IDF Israeli Defence Force’s special forces. And you say for old people……🤦🏻‍♂️😂. Real Krav, we don’t use gloves or matts, or fake weapons and we don’t touch spar. People get hurt whilst studying krav. Whatever this guy is teaching, is not what I’ve spent 20 years of my life, 1/2 of that in the military, teaching to soldiers, prison officers and police. Do some real research my friend, it’s sounds as if you’d find it fascinating

Love the nitpicky back-and-forth in the comments over whether or not Krav Maga is a "martial art." Every fighting technique, from basic hand-to-hand combat to the application of advanced weaponry to strike at an enemy is technically a martial art, in that it is a methodology applicable to the waging of war/conflict. Sun Tzu didn't title his definitive work "The Activity of War". The argument that Krav Maga isn't a martial art is based on the fundamental misunderstanding of the word "art" in this application. It comes from folks who are so focused on the wrong definition of that word (it has more than one, you know), and who are so obsessed with things like styles, belts, etc., that they've almost completely forgotten the operative word in the phrase - "martial."

I've fought a guy who used palm stikes yea he hit me a lot but it didnt hurt my fist on the other hand crushed his nose broke his jaw and fractured his cheekbone. I'm not worried about how my hands are gonna feel tomorrow. Proper punching technique will prevent you from hurting your wrists. If you have to bust a knuckle to one and done a mf to keep him from hurting you or anyone else I say its worth it
@Imperial_Cosmonaut
@Imperial_Cosmonaut 4 года назад
I agree, I'm skeptical about open hands in general. Every good martial art (including boxing) teaches to always keep fists closed the whole fight, to become instinctual and always ready if an opening for a punch opens up. 1. Fingers are EXTREMELY easy to catch/snag/break. 2. Learning how to align punches right is monumentally necessary to keep from easily spraining wrists if you ever DO use a fist. 3. Yes, a palm cushions the blow. Open hand muscle memory/training kinda comes off as a recipe for disaster and getting used to bad habits
@uneedtlc2
@uneedtlc2 4 года назад
Women really shouldn't fight closed fisted. Unless we are trained well, we do more than scuff our knuckles. We break entire hands. For 20 years, I was fighting almost daily. Mostly with men. I've done some damage and have never used a closed fist. I used a lot of elbows and knees though. Lol

There really isn't an effective defense against a well trained individual in Krav M. It's designed so that even defensive actions are Naturally transformed into an offensive attack. Awesome Art.

I just subscribed to your channel since the video was so useful. Where do you teach in person classes? I live in Raleigh Durham, NC on the east coast.

Hi, the GMAU does not teach in-person classes. All of our martial arts programs are online at: globalmartialarts.university/ :)

I'm a 14 year old girl who is really into bushcraft and self defense, just because a lot of times as a woman, I feel vulnerable, especially being so young, so this will help me, and I'm not going to be the one you'd want to mess with in the end, lmao

I'm not a big believer in palm strikes. That would just piss somebody off. KM also uses elbo strikes. Those can be very effective.

How can a person test without a training partner???
@GlobalMartialArtsUniversity

That's a good question. We do recommend that our Krav students have a training/testing partner as they get into the higher ranks :) globalmartialarts.university/course/kravmaga/

The orthodox boxing stance with the back foot at an angle seems a lot better than all 10 toes facing forward for power, balance, and movement. Just my opinion. I do like the idea of using open hands for self defense to avoid injury.

The follow-up to combatives is escaping, which is easier done with the foot facing the way it will when you run.

Just watching the videos alone will not protect you in a fight. You need to instill it into your muscle memory through training so it becomes natural instinct

You will never win every fight but the best advice is to avoid the fight all together. There's no shame in diplomacy but there's also no shame in explosive shock and awe attack and then getting out of the fight.

In Wing Chun? They use a chain punching but it can be used in different strike patterns ... like attacking the opponent center line or your center line but making fast multiple strikes to the pressure points or even clavicle. And the center line can be a fixed on almost any point just as in the triangle points.
@JustinGild

In Wing Chun they rarely if ever pressure test outside their system which is why whenever you watch a Wing Chun fighter vs MMA or Muay Thai they are always getting trounced.
