For my studies i needed 256 storage,power,apple pencil (2nd gen coz its better) and i got the ipad air m1 for 750 dollars compared to the almost 900 for ipad pro for the same storage, the other pro features i didnt really need

No scratches or marks came with the charger and box fast speed, and if you are buying a pen get the 1st gen don’t make the mistake I did !!
I feel like it's a little ingenuine to say that the extra performance doesn't do anything just because the screen is only 60Hz. In gaming, that is certainly true, but in any other power hungry task, video and photo editing in particular, you have nearly, if not the same performance as the base models of the iPad Pro. The performance improve does seem to be pretty good, just not so much for gaming is all.
I would really like to see an ongoing series of comparisons between the iPad models, to see which features each has, and which features each lacks. How does the new Air stack up against the recently-introduced iPad Mini 6 and regular iPad? I'm thinking about eventually buying at least one iPad, and the iPad Pro M1 is way too expensive for me.
depending on where you live, older models such as the M1 ipad pro decrease in price at all retailers except Apple. For example in Germany, for $usd extra you can get an M1 ipad pro instead with 256gb instead of the 256gb ipad air. If you are happy with refurbed its same price.
Really surprised by the usage of the M1 in the iPad Air. I thought for sure they were gonna use the A15. You should make a vid comparing the new iPad Air to the iPad Pros to see if it's worth the price difference. Great job!
Geekbench score is not much different, IPad Air 5 is little bit ahead in multi core scores as compare to M1 iPad Pro’s , if I am not wrong. M1 with more cores which is based on A14 is definitely faster than A15 with fewer cores in iPad mini6 (down clocked speed as well in mini). 🙁

But asking for these features would make a slim difference between the air and pro, thus eliminating the group of people looking for a budget-ish ipad. Most people can see this as a minor update over the previous air and be thankful they were able to keep the 599$ price tag for a decent device overall for the price. A few of these updates would thus make it a viable upgrade from the iPad Air 3.
Yes, but the iPad pro 11 for $750 has only 128gb of storage, not that much for video editing. While the $659 iPad Air 5 has the same M1 chip with $256 gig of storage. As nice as the speakers and high refresh rate might be, bigger storage is king, and better for the long run. iPad Air 5 now has the same processing power with the M1 Chip, faster USB C reads, faster read and write speeds, and it brings 256gb of storage, that is a win win for me.
If you have the iPad Air 4 (which I have), you don't need to upgrade to the new M1, unless you really really want the newer model, 'cause these differences aren't that much for a regular user.
I just got my Air 4(education store) a week ago before apple released Air 5.. Now I’m considering returning it and get Air 5 but I’ll have to pay extra $170 for Air 5. I don’t know what to do .
@Davout not really, most people who want a iPad Pro have an iPad Pro, and ultimately upgrading the display wouldn’t have an effect of those sales. However it would have an effect on the 599$ price tag to 699$ or so for similar profit. But still 599$ is a killer deal for this iPad let’s be honest here. And 799$ for the iPad Pro is also a killer deal, ultimately depends on your needs and budget.
@@theneighborlynumismatist8201 The pro people absolutely buy the iPad Pro for its incredible unmatched display. The iPad pro has one of the best displays on a device... like ever. The pro motion not only combines extreme smoothness but also extreme efficiency and reduced latency especially on the apple pencil which is one of the main pro features. While both devices have the pencil support only the pro has the smoothness and low latency. If pro motion is added to the air the need for a pro iPad is very little.
I went with iPad Air 4, got a refurbished one off Amazon with cellular for 400 after tax. Bought specifically for flying. Pretty much using it for ForeFlight app and notes from air traffic control. If ima game I’m using a self built desktop pc. 4g has the longer signal.

Just bought the iPad Air 4 256gb for $599 at Costco. Much better deal than $750 for the 5th Gen. Would have paid for the 5th Gen if Apple actually took iPad OS seriously, but it doesn't. M1 is overkill on any iPad.
I guess, if you are willing to wait longer in between iPad upgrades, the iPad Pro is the better option, making the use of the iPad last longer until you decide the new iPad Air # is better than the Pro with the 120Hz display and pretty much everything else that the iPad Air 5 currently has (which will obviously be a few years from now, of course). I am saying this because even though I have an iPad Air 1st generation, I still don't feel the need to upgrade to the newest iPad Air (specially since an app I use is not 'compatible' or something with the new OS, so I wouldn't be able to use it).
The M1 will come into its own after iOS16 is released as it will support it with more features and there are games coming to the M1 Air and Pro that won’t work on iPad Air 4 such as No Man’s Sky. It’s a step away from merging the MacBook Air and iPad Air lines, especially as you can use the iPad as a second screen wirelessly now.
@@Whataboutthelife iPad Air 5 has the M1 cpu, the same as in MacBook Air. It will get games and other things that won’t work on the 4. The iPad Air 4 is still a great device but it just won’t have those features that will be written to use the M1 chip.
For anyone using the Air for drawing and writing with the pencil, not sure about the 5 but the display on 4 flexes under pressure. It feels like a softer glass vs the Pro models. This creates a shimmering effect under the tip of the pencil, which is distracting. This can happen on the Pros but you need to apply about twice as much pressure. I went to the store to check if it was just mine but the demo units have the same issue. You get used to it after awhile but was a bit annoyed at the reduced build quality vs the Pros that affects UX. I don’t think this issue got mentioned in any of the Air 4 reviews. Plus Apple did customers dirty by not including centre stage. Super weird that the Mini and iPad had it but not the more expensive Air until now 🤦♂️ Felt like a rug pull.

Yup you are absolutely right, just been to the apple store today and noticed it on the new mini too. @Claire Mg, you can see the ripple effect on your phone screen if you try pressing hard with the tip of your nail (be careful to stop once you see it and don't wreck your screen)
@@aninditabasak7694 4G ram will be able to hold the same amount of apps regardless the cpu, when you return to them they'll start from scratch, which is not nice. On mac their state is in swap and you don't feel the difference.
@Omar Don’t worry, I’m sure the Mini 7 that will release Sep 2023 or earlier, will have M1 chip. Apple seems to be unifying the iPad line with M1 for obvious reasons Plus MinI 6 has a underclocked A15 which is basically a slightly underpowered A14 in Air 4 so I’d it’s a safe bet Mini 7 will get M1
It's really a lot simpler than all this: if you have to use Geekbench to tell if the new iPad is faster, then the answer to whether or not you should upgrade is *no*. There are good arguments for moving to the iPad Pro (better screen, Thunderbolt vs USB), but the Air is barely an improvement in real world usage vs the basic iPad, and adding an M1 to the mix doesn't really change that.
I agree, iOS has been crippling the RAW power of the M1 on the Pros ever since release, and in the Air it makes even less sense besides longevity? And in longevity's case, 64GB is too damn stingy, so unless you go for the 256GB model the upgrade is pointless.
I feel Like the iPad air 5 has slightly louder speakers, and a small improvement in base… but nothing that is obvious. Might be related to the way the internals are arranged
I was just considering my first ipad as a senior high school student. I’m not from a financially well off family but I made the choice to start off with air 4. Cause I didn’t want to buy an old one that used apple pen gen 1, cause then I would have to consider getting gen 2 when I decide to upgrade to a more modern one
$100 more for the amount of performance that you get and double the Ram looks like a no-brainer to me. If only the base storage would be bigger.. or have a 128 GB option even if it was $50 more...

I ordered the Air 5 because I wanted the 256GB storage and a nice colour. The high refresh screen means nothing to me; I always need more space, and I wasn't willing to spring for the Pro 256.
Why do you need 256 gigs of storage? I would settle for the pro and pay for an iCloud subscription, it would cost you only a couple bucks extra. A $750 iPad Air isn’t very worth it imo
@@ogreeni Because I'm always running out of local storage. My 64GB iPhone is always full and my 5th gen 32GB iPad is even worse. Trying to update the OS or even open a book in the Books app is a huge problem once the local storage gets full. I'd probably be able to get away with less if Apple's storage management tools weren't completely useless-it'll tell me that messages is taking up 5GB of storage and then when I go to look, it'll show me 200MB worth of photos that I can delete and nothing else. It's hopeless. I already have the 2TB Apple One family plan; cloud storage isn't the problem. I already have the photos app set to optimize storage. I don't want to buy a 128GB iPad and be fighting with this exact same problem 2 years from now.
You just don't get a high refresh rate, you get Face-ID, better speakers, better cameras (these don't matter really, but LidAR), better microphone, a better HDR screen for content, Thunderbolt USB-C. If I get all these features for like 50$ more then I am ready to sacrifice 1/2 my storage. I will just use the local storage for the apps whilst just do my work off an external thunderbolt drive. And about the colours, you can always use a case or skin.
@@loki.8435 Don't care about the cameras or the microphone at all, the screen is still not a concern to me, and the speakers aren't that important because if I really want to listen to something well, I'll put on my earbuds. I DID consider FaceID, which I definitely like better, but it just wasn't worth it. Again, if Apple's storage management was any better, I might have chosen differently, but extra storage was absolutely my main concern. I know 128GB will be fine for now, but I plan to keep this thing for 4-6 years, and 128GB will almost certainly be too little over that time horizon.

Okay, I need some real advice. I plan to buy an iPad, but which one? I only plan to use it as an alternate to my MacBook M1, for Cricut design space and procreate for svgs. Of course ill occasionally use it for RU-vid, Netflix, and etc. Is the 5 really worth it for that kind of usage? From what I've researched, I've read you only notice it if you do heavy video editing or play intensive video games. $100 more for the 5 sounds like a great deal, but if I could save that with the 4, that's cool. I don't want to just pay for the newest model, I would only justify paying more if I will actually be able to tell the difference. TIA

Nah man. Seeing the numbers you might be tempted to change. But when you use it in general, for the money and overall performance it isn't necessary at all. Ipad air 4 is great. The 5th is like a slighty vooler one but you still win woth the 4th and it's way cheaper.

Man. 120hz display isn’t really that much important. It just feel smoother and more fluid. And it’s enjoyable. It’s not really that much important for me.
i think if you are transfering a ton of files and need the high speed or for some specific case sthe 4th gen is better if you are set on getting the air

I have the Air4 and i'm disappointed, it is bad at the only thing i cared, raw photos preview from external ssd. I don't know where that 5Gb usbc speed is going because is not able to preview in real time 25Mb photos, and the more you preview the slower it gets.
I was going to exchange my gen 9 256 gb for the Air gen 5, however the base storage is too low and didn’t feel like to upgrade to equal storage was worth the price difference when I already have an M1 Mac.
I think having 60hz screen on the ipad air 5 is not a big problem or a problem at all. That is how it is to be the air version, if they put 120hz on it, with the m1, how could it be different from the ipad pro?
When I try and grab Jazz Disk Benchmarking, it says it's not available in my region. Have you played with your region to get the app or is there something going on with all my Apple devices? I live in the US.
