What makes this channel for me is the dad spending time with his son, and his son being respectful of his dad. The Michelin class food that ends up happening is just a nice bonus!
You guys are great. Dedicated father and supportive son. I love it. Iron dad spent years becoming a master and still maintained a great relationship with his son. Not many can say that.
My dad's passion was cooking and he taught me how to cook. He passed away this year and I cherish memories just like these that I got to make with my own father.
@@figgynewton3138 sending blessings up to you and yours. I’ve lost a brother as well… The healing process never stops. We honour them and their memory everyday. One love.
I just love how he says "Hey children" as he's teaching, really such a gentle teacher even if you were a complete amateur you could feel comfortable learning from an Iron Chef.
@@Drekt666 Hey Derek, not sure if you are aware of this, but I'm commenting on the video we just watched. You know, the one we are in the comments section of? Where he's in his home kitchen and often says "hey children?" No? Still confused?
@@Drekt666 Some people think they can accurately judge a stranger from RU-vid videos, videos that are deliberately made to sell people to other people. Some people are naive and gullible.
@@KingJerbear I think He means in the kitchen as in his demeanour might change if he was in an actual restaurant kitchen as opposed as at home with his family
You can tell he loves his dad. Just speaks to his father's parenting skills. This man is a great dad and great men raise great children. These two are awesome. 👍
Watching these makes me cry. I never knew my dad; he passed when I was 2 as did my mom. Seeing you guys interact and the love between father & son is so heartwarming. It makes me a little jealous, but overwhelmingly happy. Love love this channel. ❤️🥹
I love their dynamic. The son obviously respects his father. The father obviously loves his son. The father is a master chef. The way he takes TV dinners and fast food and turns it into gourmet entrees is impressive.
For me, one of the best things about RU-vid is being able to vicariously be in the room with amazing chefs like this and watch the extra steps that he goes through to make the meal better. It makes me a better chef. It also fosters my passion for cooking.
What amazes me is how Dad is always in teaching mode. He doesn't just answer the questions he is asked, he tries to teach his son to think about the answer and the idea behind the answer. I would love to hang out and get lessons from this guy, he seems real down to earth.
I grew up watching Susur Lee on Iron Chef and a lot of my late teens watching him judge on Chopped Canada. Finding this channel was a blessing, it's so wholesome watching you both interact and share.
I discovered you guys for the first time today. I can safely say I am HOOKED! What an absolute pleasure it is to watch your videos, I paused this one around 20 times as I had to keep stopping to tell/show my husband. He really should just sit and go on the RU-vid binges with me. I love that Dad takes the time to explain and educate, and you can see the passion he has for food and for cooking, articulate in his explanation and communication but with an air of comfort if you know what I mean, like he knows us all personally. What joy it must be for you both to share something special as father and son.
Love the family component....the bonding. Love the simplicity of your presentation. And I appreciate you opening your home life in a way. I will never likely be able to enjoy a meal by you, so this is as close as this foodie will ever get.
Your father is an absolute joy to watch and listen to. You and him make an excellent team with the commentary and questions. I would really enjoy seeing you two do a full-time cooking endeavor.
What you have with your father is so incredibly special. I hope you truly truly appreciate this. Just watching these brings a tear to my eye. I miss my dad.
Thanks for posting. My dad (who also had a passion for cooking) recently passed away. Although it's a small detail, it's really nice when he calls you "son," cause I realize there isn't a male in my life who calls me that anymore. I'm glad you're savoring the time you have with him! Enjoy it! Love this channel!
Dude, what an amazing relationship you have with your dad. So wholesome and you actually try to learn something. Also love watching your dad cook! Please more videos like this!
As a person without a father growing up this channel is awesome just seeing how they interact. Dad is fun and intelligent and the son is respectful and clearly intelligent enough to LISTEN.
I just subscribed. We need more of these type of content in YT. Candid, Family, top class food, and very natural. I feel like they're just my next door neighbors. The good neighbor. I feel like this is one of my friend's dad back while I was still growing up. After playing outside, we hang out in my friend's place and we get to eat what he comes came up with - along with the stories.
Hope they keep this up man. Love the energy. Tho my relationship with my dad was alot different and lots of more colorful words. But he passed away and it makes me miss him alot but also happy to remember those good times.
All I can say is that your kids are so lucky to have a parent like you, So gentle, nice and supportive, you sir are what every parent aspires to be. Well done
Ahh Susur.... this man at his peak was one of the absolute best! To this day, I still remember him telling/showing me as a young cook how to get the most out of citrus. Hard man to work for, but damn did you learn from him!
Years ago when I first stumbled upon the original iron chef show I was truly at a loss for words. The most epic cooking. It’s great to see your pops doing well.
lol you 2 are just excellent, thanks for not only the excellent cooking tips, but more importantly the interaction between you 2 guys, such a great relationship between Dad & Son 👍👍
I would love to see Iron Chef Dad's preferred preparation of beef liver. I've been trying to incorporate it more into my diet as its extremely nutrient dense, but limited on ideas on how to cook it. Really enjoy this content, keep up the good work!
At my old elementary school, they used to serve daikon to eat with your lunch. I always picked it over anything else from the fruit and vegetable bar, it’s been giving me nostalgia ever since I have watched this video. Thank you, keep cooking and never give up.
Man this is is a dish that I would love to serve to my friends when I have more money. This time will come one day, and I will keep the wagyu beef in mind. Be blessed you two!
This channel is all about how to create beautiful creations in the kitchen, however. It has been trumped by the relationship of father and son. It is so damn beautiful!
while you might not have a dad around, I'm sure there's some cooking classes local to you where you'd be able to find a mentor or bit of a role model/friend who's got the dad vibes.
I didn’t know I would ever be enjoying someone call me a child. But it’s appropriate because I always learn something from chef dad. Awesome content as always 🙌🏽. It would be cool to see him on the Sean Evans hot ones challenge one day.
Growing up, I always loved cooking with my dad, and I still do. But now we live far apart, and I miss spending time with him in the kitchen. I really like the father/son dynamic and the cooking content. Subbed!
the algorithm is working. YT just reccomended this to me randomly on my home page and i very much enjoyed watching. Great cooking and great relationship you guys have. I want to start a YT channel with my dad lol.
I think one of the most impactful lessons I have learned from this video is the distinction of flavours being feminine and masculine. My interpretation is that a masculine taste is something you actually TASTE, while feminine flavours are more aromatic. I could be wrong but it made more sense in my head. Really love this channel!
This and Binging with Babish is the most pure/wholesome cooking content on youtube. No pretention or flash or anything, just informative and respectful to the food and the audience. Makes me feel like I'm right there with him in the kitchen and just having a pleasant evening.
Great video but please make more of ones to enlighten people. I stumbled upon someone complaining in your comment section about loosing job and seeking for help. Having multiple income sources is very crucial to financial growth.
Ideal words. Investments have always been the best alternative; having multiple investments increases your benefits and provides you with other revenue streams.
I realized the benefits of investing. My source of income had previously been my job. But I lost my job when the pandemic started and I had to live with the little I had in my savings which really affected my plans.
This is exactly what I'm talking about. For the past four years, my income has never been dependent on any firm or work place, because I chose to invest and the more money I get the more I seek for new investment opportunities.
When I was in Japan I spoke to a chef who had been preparing A5 for decades and asked him the best way to cook it. He just said a slither of beef fat for the oil lightly coating the pan,a gentle amount salt and pepper med-low heat and gently browned. That's it. He said adding any more to it ruins the natural flavour it already has.
I feel this is accurate. One time, I cooked both A5 and regular prime rib eye, pairing them both with a dipping sauce. The prime rib tasted amazing with the sauce but for the wagyu it did not enhance the flavor at all, taking away from the experience instead compared to just salt or salt+pepper.
They use wagyu fat or high quality butter if they do add oil. Some chefs don’t use any oil for A5. It’s too rich to eat large amounts if by yourself so it’s served with other dishes and sides.
