Wishmaster might not be that popular among the fans (especially the newer ones) anymore since Nightwish doesn't performit live anymore that often. It still is very iconic song. Also, Wishmaster is one of the songs from Nightwish that Tarja sometimes does in her solo concerts.

Chorus is ' Master. Apprentice. Heartborne. 7th Seeker. Warrior Disciple Its me the wishmaster!! And the proper names are Elebeth and Lorien. Easier if you have lyrics. I don't think its less of a 1st reaction to just read lyrics without audio or video. Not everyone hears everything the same. Should not shock you to find Wishmaster on the album of the same name.

In Tarja's defence.. those lyrics contain a lot of stuff you would only be familiar with if you had read certain fantasy novels. So you would probably still wonder what this song is about if you knew the lyrics. But yes, it takes some time to get familiar with lyrical singing sometimes and English is not her first language. I can understand her just fine but I'm used to lyrical singing and a lot of different accents in English

FISHMASTER...yes 😆❤🐟 iconic. All the albums are amazing. Even Angels fall first has excellent songs like Beauty & the Beast (be sure to check out From wishes to Eternity live featuring Tony Kakko) or Tutankhamen. I love dark fantasy album Oceanborn (Devil & The Deep Dark Ocean, Passion and the opera, Gethsemane, Stargazers) or Century Child (End of all hope, Feel for you, Ocean soul, Dead to the world, Beauty of the Beast) the most - the album came out the year Tarja got married. But, you can't choose, every album has iconic songs. Wishmaster has Ever dream, Kinslayer, FantasMic. The album Once (the last album with Tarja) has Ghost love score , Wish I had an angel, the Siren, Planet Hell. How to choose just one album? Impossible.

Lyrics are complicated and a bit difficult to hear but also understand. There is an idea naturally but one have to discover it....this song causes plenty of discussion because of that. Yes Emppu shines here with his guitar and naturally they all with this performance. It is the title song of the third album and last before Marco era.

Bless you guys! Oh about 98% of the lyrics is about the Dargonlance books. The "Wishmaster" is from there too. It's a blend of the whole first trilogy, pretty much lol. Although there was the old, alternative/misheard lyrics video. It's still hilarious. But yeah, this song was and still is massive for Nightwish, one of the most beloved.

Yesterday (or day before?) I said operatic vocals don't fit to all Tarja's rock songs nor in the end of "Nemo". But to some like "Wishmaster," "End of All Hope," "Deep Silent Complete" and "Stargazars" they definitely do. Like Tuomas, I love Dragonlance fantasy novels, and Silmarillion too. Star Breeze and Silvara are Dragonlance personal names, shalafi is an Elvish word apprentice Dalamar used of his master Raistlin (and it means "master" and "teacher"), Sla-Mori is an Elvish word for a secret passage. From Tolkien, Elbereth is a person's name and and Lorien (Lothlorien) is an Elven realm, Grey Havens is an Elven sea port, seen in the end of the Lord of the Rings trilogy movies. About the Heartborne I don't know.

It’s hard to hear lyrics in opera and going that fast, at least for me. I remember the 1st time I heard GLS with Floor. I could not make out all the words when she did the opera part. I suggest you go look the lyrics up. They’re pretty cool. It’s a shame Tarja was sick during this concert since it was the last. But I personally didn’t know until someone told me. This is a great symphonic song, one of my favourites. Emppu with his 2 solos, so great!

It's quite difficult to get the lyrics when Tarja is singing. She uses operatic voice and for example vowels are pronounced very operatic way. She also has very finnish accent. But even if you understood every word, you probably still wouldn't understand the meaning. The lyrics are typical fantasy themes from early years of Nightwish. There's lots of references to Dragonlance fantasy novels and also to Lord of the rings. There most probably is no deeper meaning behind the lyrics.

@@larryzigler6812 ditto. It though is known the accent is paticular to the East of Finland. She mentioned in reference to a conversation with Naiomi that it is a heavy rural accent. Think Missouri /Appalachian in US terms. That as soon as they speak you can place them to a geographic region. Now taking any prejudice and pre conceived stereotypes from that it is a simple statement of fact. She did not grow up in Helsinki nor does she pretend otherwise. The lyrics site I use has a phone app. Genius Lyrics. It will help. It is not her its Tuomas dropping proper names like Lorien or terms like Shalify. Not words in regular language but drawn from fiction. If you have never heard of Issac Asimov the term Psychohistory would be gibberish. If you have then...ahh yes of course! The response There is a reason this song has a parody misheard lyrics video. I don't read fantasy. So the names a mystery. As for her singing practice, practice, practice. Even those who write up the lyrics sometimes disagree on the exact word . Ghost love score for example. In the chorus is it the path behind will LEAD me or LEAVE me? I've seen it both ways. V or D is hard to decipher spoken without perfect diction, let alone sung loudly in a rock concert , orchestra and choir singing different lyrics in the background. Every reactor struggles. Also yes this was End of an Era and that number is the 3rd of Six outfits she wore that night. The Siren was before this and the red dress/coat is after.

@@Ozzy_2014 Thanks for all the info. Of course I was speaking about her accent when she speaks English which I just adore. Plus I think that her songwriting in English as a second or third language gives her a distinct advantage , not trapped by cliche's. One brilliant woman 💘💘💘💘💘💘

I think, though I'm not sure, back when "Wishmaster" was in the set list was further back and Tarja's accent was stronger. Even in Finland, I think there's a sound that's different in different parts of the country. I could be wrong.
