You shouldn’t worry about his damage to be honest. It’s simply not enough to be significant. But his toughness damage is very significant. Single target ults nuke toughness bars as well as off turn actions aka follow up attacks.

@@ForTheViolence I'm not *worried* about his damage, I'm simply pointing out that all his BiS relics use DEF, SPD, Crit, and Break. The other 4 stats are useless for him. Meaning, you're going to be doing damage with him even if you don't intend to, because his best relics have DPS stats.

My idea: Def 4-set with Def%-SPD and Eff Res 2-set with Def%-Def%, hoping to reach 143 SPD, without bothering at all about Crit stats... I appreciate the idea of a hybrid offensive-defensive unit, but his dmg is just too negligible to justify wasting time farming for good relics, when a full defensive build is plenty enough

@@DahRahzor Sure, everyone gonna do their own thing. But he has a default 50% ERES and the need for HP is negligible due to his shields - you can certainly stack those for comfort, but they're wasted stats in 99% of circumstances. ATK% and EHR are literally useless. All that remains is more DEF and... DPS stats.

I'd say both made their points well. Gatcha is right his personal % of your total damage in a 0-1 cycle run is still gonna be low with the cone, but Iyo is right that it saves you SO many stats and so much tedium on a "free stuff" front, It's pretty nutty on a purely numbers level.

Not just a better Gepard. He breaks more often and is immune to cc while giving teammates 50% cc which makes it viable to run broken keel which further helps dps.

Run trend on aventurin and you get another dot that dose a good amount cause it’s scales off defense of aventurine, which you already want at 4000.

Aventurine gets stacks when he gets hit but also when his allies gets hit, so running him with Clara isn't anti-synergistic. Even better, if you put them next to each other, you increase chances of both of them being hit when the enemy cleaves.

not really. at 21:27 he said "whether you need it (the lightcone) is 50/50" and Smack said the Lightcone is mid. Mid means 5/10. Basically they're saying the same thing.

@@goldshot754 It's mainly about perspective. 100% his light cone is optional but calling it bait is questionable to me. consider the fact that it acts as a defensive chest piece allows him to use something like an attack chest piece to increase his attack numbers. You can also go the route of buffing crit rate to ensure the 100% crit rate while balancing out with more damage. His LC opens up a lot of venues you can go with his relic building. F2P lightcones are good on adventurine but they make his relic skew harder towards the defensive% main piece

​@@muchluck7981yeah but even if his personal dmg is increased by the slc, his lightcone's value is not that good compared to sparkles that gives 10cr nd 24cd to all allies or RM lc that gives DMG bonus, energy nd sp. It isn't that his LC is bad but it's value is not much compared to other support lc. That's why I think gacha says it's bait, that's my theory anyways.

@@nickarooroo6397 I mean, Smack made his point pretty fairly, the numbers are amazing on the LC, definitely no argument there, but in the end, his contribution to the overall damage from 0-1 cycles, he won't safe you an entire cycle by himself. Therefore, the LC might be really great looking, but the impact it has on your overall teams performance is not big enough for a "must have". It potentially saves you from having to run a Def% Relic, and you could opt into a Crit% one, yet overall again, his damage is not nearly enough to pull an entire cycle of difference. If the combat was longer, maybe. 🤔

I mean if you already have two top tier sustains and are not interested in follow-up then sure, he wouldn't bring much value to your account. Just like how Sparkle and Acheron were an easy skip for me who already has two lightning damage dealers and who never runs hypercarry.

Same tho I'm not saving for firefly I'm more excited for jiaoqiu ( copium ) for being Acheron's support and Ruan mei's rerun

I saw a while ago, a video with a team running Aventurine, Clara, Topaz and Ratio. And it was hilarious to watch almost a perpetual follow up team XD Not sure if they will change numbers but Aventurine is definitely the whole package and will be another meta warping character. The flexibility is amazing as well. For those who saved from him instead of Acheron hey didnt loose at all

@@reignis9937 I run SU in perpetual elation mode most of the time, so this is gonna be so much fun. I did break a personal rule and am gonna spend to grab him because I blew everything on Acheron an her LC. No regrets, but will probably be my last warps for the next few months

@@MelissaThornton hey very understandable! I really had to Skip Acheron cause I needed another sustain for MoC for comfort. Running Elation in SU is definitely really fun! But with Aventurine you will be able to do it in MoC and probably fiction too! I wish you the best of luck and that your commitment is rewarded ten fold ahahahah ^^

I don’t think characters being based on synergies are a bad thing. It more helps than hurts, as it can put life back into older characters. It does hurt new players a good amount, so I can see where the problem lies.

@@goldshot754 , the problem is it's a gacha game, there's a big chance you don't have these "older characters". For example. I skipped Topaz since I wasn't fond of the idea of FUAs at that time, I invester heavily in DoTs. And so I didn't bother lvling Ratio. And now I'm in a tough spot. We got some interesting info on Jade's kit. It looks kinda strange but as a sub-DPS in FUA it's huge. But even if now I'm starting to think I kinda want to try FUA team, I'm already way behind. Great characters coming one after another so I can forget about pulling Topaz on rerun, I'm no whale. And now I can only decide on Aventurine. Is he playable outside of FUAs? Yes. Is he sub-optimal in these cases? Yes, he might even be SP negative in some scenarios I guess. And here comes the confuion. And in the case of highly synergistic characters from this confusion comes a source of money. You either pull now or wait for who knows how long for who knows what type of sustian who's coming next. Or you don't pull anything until you have a clear idea of what you want (and in case of FUAs it took what, half a year to finally get a potentially ideal set-up for FUA team?). And so you might be wrong if you pull him for one reason AND you might be wrong if you skip him for another reason. That's why I think it's not a good thing to have a high (!) amount of synergy (for players ofc, devs are making money from our poor pulling decisions). Hope I was able to write my thoughts clearly and correctly.

The idea of Optimization over Functionality. We are both on a channel that goes over the most optimal builds and strategies for characters, and we forget that you do not have to use the most value in the most optimal situation if the less optima still works. You brought up Jade’s kit. A kit that, at the moment, favors a lot of AoE attacks, so most hunts are considered to be not optimal. However, that doesn't mean that they can't work with her. All it would do is change how you play Jade, form a support to the DPS to clean up DPS that uses her FUA to kill smaller mobs, buffing either herself or your sustain, while your Hunt DPS deals with the main target. Same goes for Robin. She really wants FUA to help her get her energy back up during ult and gives them 10% CD, But she is not useless without them. All im trying to say is that optimizing every character is not essential as long as they can still function. Aventurine won't get his FUA as often as he would in an FUA team but he will still get it and put high enough shields that will protect your team.

@@goldshot754 , you're totally right about optimization, I especially mentioned he's 100% playable outside of FUAs. It's not about optimization, it's about time, effort and resources. We only have that much info about upcoming characters and we know nothing about future Preservation characters. It's just pretty much might be a waste of time and resources since if there's one higly synergetic character, there're others. Imagine pulling for him, probably losing 50/50, probably paying for him since "he'll still work in all the team comps" to then later get another shielder who's good for you preferred teams that you've already built released. You've just wasted time, effort, resources, probably money and it potentially caused you problems when you later tried to pull some other character you want or need. BUT. There's also a chance there won't be a specific shielder (or any other good Preservation character) for your beloved team comps for a year of even longer. In that case you'll regret you didn't invest you time, effort, resources, probably money. It's kinda... at this exact point of time you don't know if pulling for him is a waste or an investment. Especially given that Aventurine really opens a new page in sustain meta so he's very valuable right now but might fall off pretty fast for non-FUA teams (while being forever at the top in FUA teams). And yes, again, I perfectly aware that's the way of making money in gacha. I just don't want it to become a usual source of concerns.

@@snackeetah2627 that is the curse of power creep, you mentioned it in the first post but Hi3rd has some of the worst power creep i have seen form a gacha game. The only way of mitigation for hsr is 1. lower the difficulty of the game so far that any team with slight investment can 100% it. 2. Have every new character introduces to have some downside or gimmick that puts them in a niche where old characters help them. Preferably, there is balance, but that won't always be the case some character are just better then others. That is why pulling for meta is a neverending cycle of disappointment. Cause that character, no matter how good they are at the time, will eventually be dethroned

you don't play FUA, so you'll most likely be using Aventurine for your Acheron. In that case, Aventurine is the 2nd best option after Gepard. Of course Fire TB is an option, but his sustainability is really uncomfortable.

Nah, because the FUA hits 7 times or something like that. You’re more than likely to hit the debuff multiple times before you miss it.

More than likely his best for Arlan. And that’s not a question at all/ many of us don’t talk about Arlan so it’s fair to ask it.

@@Iyoverse The Arlan community is made up of like 5 players it's hard to find recourses. Any reason specifically that adventurine is better for Arlan? I thought a while back that adventurines shield was unique and that it would only tik down whenever adventurine had a turn, allowing Arlan to actually utilize bronya sparkle without worrying about being killed immediately. But I dont think that's the case

It still matters outside of pure single target boss encounters, especially when you want to nuke down adds.

@@sfzndo that entirely depends on your team though. A good example is the abundance deer where people usually ignore the ads in favor of nuking down the boss. Same with Yanqing.

@@Kamishi845 respectfully, two exceptions out of the numerous boss/elite fights in the game. it's not the worst, and if you run him with any AoE/blast DPS it'll matter even less.

if your Mei is not busy on the other team then you should get Aventurine, and use Mei for the FUA team. But if you get both Aventurine and Robin, your Mei can be run on your 2nd team.

Img% in general can be dropped, I feel. His DEF% has overall better utility. If you reach 4k, you can go for crit if you want a sustain that dishes decent dmg or you can go full def Edit: I may not be 100% knowledgeable so correct me on this

@@kaizenarias the thing i'm considering most is if I'm better off with IMG% bonus compared to Crit dmg (or vice versa). Crit dmg doesnt have better utility either. He crits, yes, but IMG% bonus also amplify his crit/non-crit too. I can reach 4k with his LC and 2DEF piece. With his LC, he already got 90 Crit dmg, together with 38.8% IMG bonus, it would be 2 different (decent) multiplier instead of 1 really high multiplier. plus, Crit dmg can be found on substats, his only useful substat is only def/def%/crit rate/crit dmg/effect res. on top of my head, I think IMG% bonus is better (it'll be DEF/SPD/IMG%/DEF) but can't test nor do I know how to do the calculation. So I can't know for sure. I'm f2p so i'm trying to optimise my TP usage for relic. Currently I have all the required main stats for all 3 different arrangements but I have yet to upgrade them.
