This is really interesting and I'll be looking forward to learning more about it as you keep sharing your findings. I do wonder if it'll be feasible on mobile, since holding down attack while pressing jump (as an example) is not exactly easy to do. Perhaps if they let us customize the button layout (if this setting exists then I haven't looked well enough since I haven't needed it so far) it'll help out with any crazy combos you guys come up with.
Also you can animation cancel a lot in this game and I’ve never heard anyone talk about it. I’m a lol player and instantly tried it and on calcharo it works really well.
Negative edge can be simplified to an action that happens on button release rather than button press. This is great tech but as of the way we build jiyan his ult mortefis ult etc this wont help him. I can see this being amazing for cal yinlin or encore teams if they have similar animations.
NGL, this makes me a bit tired. I will probably care in the future, but rn I haven't even gottent to max Data Bank level. I'll probably care when I've gotten a full set of echoes etc.
Kinda confused on how the Jiyan heavy attack example you show is a Kara Cancel. Kara Cancels require you to cancel a move during its startup but before the move is actually active. The example shown to me seems more like a standard special cancel since the move is being canceled during its active frames. I could be missing something though.
Probably the best video about WuWa I saw so far. I did realize that some mechanics of fighting games was happening, but your video is super useful to understand how to perform those mechanics.
As a not a fighting game player I actually noticed this kept happening when I switched from Jiyan to Rover and I just always assumed there was a mechanic I wasn't aware of and I told myself I'd read into it later but this is probably what was happening and it's amazing to finally understand that.
If they can't be launched then this is utterly pointless :/ it's cool that we can dmc air combo but most scenarios we will be just clearing mobs fast and echo boss fights. Also alot of characters don't have good air to airs. Lingyang tho??👀 He is made for it since his heavy and kit in general is all about that. But see how ppl feel about his playstyle and the similarities of what this video is about? It's cool but.. yeah.
you don't know how much we gacha players need fighter gamers as the content creator for this game. WuWa is hyped mostly being a much better combat experience than genshin and unfortunately gacha genre is plagued with bigger number = win like that anime called "Shangri-La" and hell yeah would love to see the creativeness of fighter games P.S you asked for a training room there are 2 ways to go to a training room. 1st is through the guidebook - path of growth (the 4th category icon) - Skill training - (only owned characters) on the first time going here gives you rewards. 2nd way is through the resonators - below the characters there's a cube button click the one beside it for quicker access
I fail to understand how the Jiyan tech is negative edge? The kara cancel i get cuz I'm familiar with it (granted i'm familiar with negative edge too) but it just seems like a perfectly timed switch tech. If someone could clear this up for me then that would be great, if I can grasp how it works i will be labbing hella things with Encore
First vid I've seen from you, easy sub. Very cool to get a perspective on this game from someone that is used to more technical combat. Most Wuwa videos are just from general gacha creators on resource optimization, this is actual fresh tech from what I've seen. Good stuff man
One question: this works even if i'm playing with high ping? Like in my region the ping is always like 150+ ping,i can play normally without any issue, but this type of combos works with medium or high ping?
Amazing video, thank you for this and introducing me to more FGC terms. I just learned about notation the other day. Didn’t know these things had names, up until now it’s just been all s and animation canceling to me. Instantly subbed, can’t wait for more! Also, you’re gonna be the first place I watch when Riot’s 2XKO drops
Well... good luck pulling this off in mobile. Theory wise, i only understand to the point you use jump to kara cancelling while still holding button attack, when the tip of Jiyan's sword touch the mob in mid-air. After that is too much for me. And i am not sure how to apply this technique in practical combat like you mention too. For most of the casual players like me, this is a little bit unrealistic. Good thing there's not a PVP event in this kind of game.
combos you are talking about matter nothing as you cant use juggling combos on bosses and elite mobs. its all irrelevant. All you need is to execute dodge and counter flawlessly to break armor
Iyo can I make a request, and I'm sure even w/o this request you would still do it anyways, but once Yinlin comes out can you see if she can be viable for any combo or tech that we currently have or will there be something different for her? I was initially planning to pull for her and use as a buffer for Calcharo and be a sub-dps, but now that's out of the window due to fact that outro skill buff effects were changed and playing her as main DPS seems the way to go now.
Respectfully - I think swap cancelling as a whole has been approached by several content creators, and your use case at the start of the video wasn't even the most optimal or "changes everything" situation from it. A mixed bag between Sanhua, Encore, Spectro Rover and Yangyang, for instance have longer animations which can be exploited to almost literally play the game 3v1 Jiyan and Aalto are (imo) a poor example of how character swapping can impact the speed and pacing of the gameplay. Another super useful trick is to use swap-to-melee as a means of parrying enemy hits while on gun/rectifier units. But seriously, swap cancelling tech has been out for a while. Tenten has a super in-depth video on it since way back in CBT 2 even
