For real tho, you'd think with how much they advertised the announcer system, they'd be updating it with more announcers after launch. But so far, nothing yet...
I watched this last night with my girl who doesn’t play games at all and she got so hyped when mena got the parry off against angry bird. It’s moments like that I think that make this game still so exciting
I saw a lot of people saying the honeymoon period for this game was over after the first month; I’m 500 hours deep and still feeling it strong, never loved a fighting game this much before
@@NRobbi42 No. It should be THAT long to differentiate with PP animation against projectiles. It is a nice cue and very short cooldown for players to think what their moves after PP. Plus, it adds more hype too. This is about functionality and it works really well. So reducing the slowdown time just because _"people have got used to it"_ isn't making any sense at all. Why would you changed something that works really well just because people got used to it? That's like saying let's make Super lvl 3 or Critical Art animation much shorter because people got used to it.
@@monstersinthecity You are talking about “reads”. That is guessing on high level. Reaction happens all the time. If you counter a drive rush with a jab and convert, it’s a reaction. If you counter DI a DI, it’s a reaction. If you anti-air, it’s a reaction. If you perfect parry into drive rush super combo, it’s a reaction. Guessing and reacting both is crucial to be a good fighting gamer
I do agree with you there, ESPECIALLY for wake up grabs. Its alot alot alot of guessing. Def in the nuet game too. BUt its kind of like that across the board for even things like boxing. lots of reading and conditioning.@@monstersinthecity
Cool to see Max analysing seriously the situation. Yes it is still great. And the FGC really needs to stop complaining every fucking day. Lots of people in the community doesn't even know the miracle it took to have a Street Fighter 6 that good. Just be thankful and wait for season 2 if you want some things to change. Complaining every day won't change anything, it just creates a bad mood surrounding the game.
This has been happening for decades, nothing new. People will always find something to cry about instead of adapting because they cannot just take the L.
No I want them to cry and rage how else would you know they did everything they could to win before that L hits different. I want people to shake and pop off when they beat me. The Idea of silent win or loss feels wrong! You may as well just fight the CPU...
@@pkkiller_apathy4568that has nothing to do with what the original comment is talking about they’re saying people need to stop complaining about every little flaw with the game every day its good to criticize things you love, but after a point its exhausting and just makes the overall mood poor
I feel like the patience in the fgc has just come to an all time low. Now granted there are criticisms of sf6 but to pretend that this isn't a quality game with a lot of effort behind it because it isn't "new and shiny" is just silly. If they were balancing the game every month it would be dogshit to play. Do I think a year though? Eh maybe not
Agreed. More people needs to learn from EndingWalker. The boy won a CPT and qualified for Capcom Cup with Ryu, which many people complaints he's low tier or whatever. But Ending just said he lost not because of Ryu but he won because of Ryu. Less complaining and more practice to improves your skills cause a balance update will not fix bad habits and skill issues.
I have never been more hyped watching high level matches than I have with this game. SF6 at EVO had me on the edge of my seat, enthralled at how good these guys are!
You know with everytime I see a Luke vs Ken match I almost convince that those 2 specifically are meant to be rivals to each other rather than their other counterparts (Ryu & Jaime). But aside from that I witnessed this match as I got home from work at that last moment and it was the hypest s*** that I've seen between these 2 players Angrybird & Menard. And boy did they end SF6 league US with a banger of a match.
@@Qeiji It was mostly a misunderstanding but yeah they were fighting against each other. Also the fact that Ken was the one who give Luke a scar on his face when they first meet.
@@akilcharles3473 Lore wise Ryu and Ken are the most iconic rivals but Ken and Luke definitely make a great matchup gameplay wise. How did Ken give Luke the scars? I never read the comics
This is utterly amazing!!!!! This is the craziest, smartest, sharpest play I may have ever seen in a fighting game... They give you enough resources to juggle and potentially have options in high stakes situations that hang on a thread. Amazing.
What I really like about SF6 compared to a lot of other modern fighting games, is that I can actually follow what is happening on screen and I understand "what just happened", but without it feeling slow or losing intensity. Tekken 8 has its moments, but it is almost "too fast" to the point that you barely understand what is happening when watching(I think the visual cues are not great for spectators). And Mortal Kombat One is the opposite, it almost feels "too slow" at times, with a lot of the "mechanics" during a match tied to the Kameos.
I love watching SF6 more and more, just so much depth to decisions being made, NuckleDu streams dailly and when he plays sets for Tournament practice against other Legends, makes me want to play even more, just other day he played many sets against MenarD, got me logging in.
Thanks for doing this, I was finding SF League impenetrable, just couldn't watch it for long without wanting to just play instead. Nice to catch a play-by-play.
Love the clickbaiting possible negativity and then doing nothing but praising the competitors and breaking down why this game is so much fun to watch at a high level. Genuinely it's so nice to click on something like this in the FGC and hear something other than negativity and downplaying and complaining.
This was the first sf game that got me to fully commit to it. No matter how many wins or losses i acquire on the way to "Master", i love everything about this game.
@PauloCesar-oz6dy same. Just on defense alone you've got 1. reverse DI 2. parry 3. perfect parry 4. drive reversal 5. Super move to cancel out DI. I love it.
Same ive tried every street fighter for about a month than go back to MK this time i wanted to keep playing and its been 4 months now and im still as committed as ever!
I set my sights too low. Once i made it to Platinum I stopped playing. Thinking about going back in now, those white knuckle moments and anxiety I have been missing lately.
That is so interesting to see the Drive Gauge recover from Burnout after getting Drive Impacted but before hitting the wall and dodging Stun. That is crazy.
I’ve never watched street fighter League until this season and dude let me tell you it’s magnificent. like literal hype, excitement and surprise while watching. In my opinion SF6 is the best fighting game to watch ever. It’s so fun to watch character movement and mechanics they’re so easy to follow visually even you don’t understand the games language. Like even if you don’t play SF the color coded blue, orange, green visual for drive mechanics I think translates to the audience easily I think. Can’t wait for Capcom cup MenaRD is the man, took a bad beat at evo but conquered his demon in SFL and I think he’s primed to win the Million.
Dude! You gotta watch SF4 EVO and even SFV after year 2, its all damn hyped trust me. Check out Jmcrocfs break down on 2009 Daigo vs Justin Wong if you want an analysis of a masterclass of fighting game fundamentals
Ed is seriously the fighter I've been wanting more than any one and I've been cycling mains since launch while waiting for him ever since he leaked with the original roster. It just makes me so mad that we've seen more of Akuma than him. Plus the last two fighters all came out within a 2 month period between each other with teases of them in-between. The Ed disrespect is real.
I love watching SF6 competitive games. It's insane how many tournaments I watch compared to the years of FGC content I've consumed. I don't even play SF6 as much as I watch. Love it!
Man, I consider myself the scrubbiest of scrubs at this game and I LOVE watching high-level pro play. The depth, the mechanics, the mind games, it's just a blast. Too bad my hands get sweaty after playing like 3 matches myself haha
I watch a lot of SF6 on other channels, and it's truly magical how various pros can show me something new about the game mechanics, or character mechanics, almost everyday.
I don’t think the problem is that sf6 ain’t hype to watch but the lack of crowd hype makes it seem less hype from a viewer perspective then watching a set from a major and having that one random guy yell. If this was at say NEC or CEO I’d be hype
Game is so good to watch, goddamn... Thanks for speaking that truth outloud, Max. Twit sometimes makes us ask ourselves questions that have no business being asked... SF6 is thrilling to play and insane to watch at the highest level.
My favorite moments in these high level matches are always the scrambles like in 11:07 It's so fun to watch these amazingly good players fumble together like that
i love how even in matches between complete professionals you can still feel the pressure when it comes down to the final match. everyone has taken the measure of their opponents and the pressure is on, it’s time to get a little wild!
can we agree this game is so freaking good and deserves all the praise it got from the release up to now? im saying this even in the betas, SF6 is getting in the conversations for the best Street FIghter ever, and probably the best fighting game ever, to soon to say, its is so amazing and its not even 1year old yet!!!!! Sorry mk1, but been messy as you are and getting this competition, you will have no chance this generation.
The title immediately makes me think of the FAV Cup 3v3 I recently watched and I've got to say, I think top level Street fighter is pretty fun to watch. There was some incredibly high level Street fighter going on there and it was pretty neat.
Just watched a video where Justin Wong suggested perhaps the one thing that would fix the drive rush conundrum: delayed wake. That aside we need a separate input for perfect parry-possibly 6+m+k. They could even add 2+m+k for perfect low parry.
Nerf parry by making you choose high/low, then if you get a PP you dont get to do anything you want it just knocks back to neutral. make raw DR cost 2 bars and if its checked you go into crumple state. that would make things 90% better in my opinion, canceling moves into DR feels super oppressive but it costs half your bar to do it so its pretty balanced.
@@kye4216 the delayed wakeup (The only sad part is that safe jumps would cease to exist and some setups are cool af), the high and low perfect parry and making drive reversal 1.5 bar and 0+ on block could make SF6 a godlike game
@@kye4216 Honestly, I’m cool with the reward PP gives you now. I just think execution and risks need to be increased on it. The biggest complaint pros have with it now is that attempting PP is free. Make it so that PP attempts are explicit and missing them gets you stuffed-pretty much like 3S. They can even leave regular parry untouched for lower-level players.
@@raysoma123 Drive Reversal doesn't need to be cheaper, it just needs faster startup. Too easy to punish, which doesn't make it low enough risk compared to OD reversal. *@kye4216* Raw DR absolutely should not cost more, but making a DR check a Punish Counter may be the right call for balancing-crumple is a bit much. Cancelling into DR not only costs half your meter, but it introduces extra scaling and completely freezes Drive recovery until combo end, so I think it's balanced same as you. For Perfect Parry, maybe _even more_ damage scaling. It's so hype as it handles now, and making it just a neutral reset would fundamentally gut the mechanic.
I think part of playing this game well is not focusing on optimal stuff but combining situational understanding with taking what you can get when you can, multiple smaller interactions that add up. AB doesn't shy away from jab, short kick DP as an example.
It's definitely situational understanding and capitalizing on openings as you said, but LP > LK > DP isn't "nonoptimal", it's a punish that reaches and has quick enough startup frame data to actually work in certain situations. The reason it's so hype is that what IS optimal changes every moment, for every interaction-and these pros keep up with that.
Its always about optimals but I think this is a different interpretation of the terms definition. Pros always do optimal choices in any situation but that doesn’t mean it’s always optimal damage when other things matter as well as set ups and okies
Ive been doing jiu jitsu and taekwondo for 3 and 2 years now and your on the dot with high level scrambles under pressure being the most hype and bringing out the best players its the so similar to a martial arts mentality.
I think the recent world warrior / cpt tourney in japan is a better indicator of how the game has evolved at a high level. Sfl US and EU are probably from around Akis release. The recent tournaments have been fun to watch. Playing it can get frustrating though, especially with the region lock which is a shame.
Nope. Go watch FAV cup 3v3, which was USA vs EU vs Asia, and Mena's squad took it. The American, European, and Asian metas are different, and that's a good thing because SF5 had a mostly global meta where everyone was doing the same stuff.
The variety of tools available in SF6 has made the skill ceiling so much higher and the optimal path so much broader. It's so delightful to watch. Even with no health left, you've got so many options, there's still so much threat. The embodiment of "It ain't over til it's over." I can't wait to learn more.
This year SFL US is arguably the best compare to previous ones and we only in season 1 without balance update too. Imagine with Ed, Akuma, more DLC released + balance update, we could get morerrr hype moments. And AngryBird vs MenaRD is the highest level play for season 1 so far. Their Ken vs Luke are just fun to watch! Can't wait to see more high level play + hype moments in Capcom Cup :3
After SFL USA ended I immediately went to the EVO 2023 playlist and rewatch the GF between these two, and it's crazy to see all the adjustments and improvements made to their gameplay in just a few months. I still think there needs to be 2 big balance patches/year, but when I think about this level of refinement in gameplay being forever denied to NRS players because of constant balance patches, I think unfrequent balancing is the lesser of the two evils.
Hey max, could you make a 2024 guide on the best way to keep up with fighting game tournaments as a viewer? I always wanted to get into them, but I have no idea when any of them are happening or which ones I should be looking out for.
pretty much always on twitch, some also stream on youtube. CapcomFighters is the official twitch/RU-vid for all the CPT tournaments and SF league. the World Warrior tournaments were ran by local events tho so its harder to keep track of.
@@lamontsnipes5229i’m not the original commenter, but i want to keep up with street fighter 6 and guilty gear strive as a viewer!! but i’m in the same position as OP, i never know when they happen until after the fact. if anyone has advice, i’d love some!!
I agree. We're finally approaching the point of FG design mastery. Reads. Reactions. Pacing. The correct amount of RPS and comboing for cashouts, resource building and usage.
MenaRD, Caba and Crossover are showing the great talent that we have for Esports here in the Dominican Republic! ¡Del patio pa´l mundo! Thanks for the great content always Max
This video on how the new mechanics affect modern gaming reminds me of the discussion on Hit Box controllers. I am referring to those who find the addition of easier machines to be a negative. I disagree with them first and foremost, and my opinion would be that technology’s purpose is to make things easier. Whether that’s a positive or negative for humanity is a different matter entirely, but I believe players are going to have to adapt to the new technologies regardless of how much they hate it. But this video shows a new perspective on how new technology can add value to gaming, if done correctly of course.
It's still good. That Fighters League finals proved it. People just have short attention spans with how much media and info is being bombarded these days.
This game is definitely the new Third Strike, it's intense and even more volatile. people will complain up and down because they can't handle it but that's the same thing that happened with TS back in the day. SF6 is most likely going to be remembered as one of the best fighting games of all time and it deserves it.
Saw the finals broadcast live after seeing the EVO final in person. It was SO hype seeing this matchup again. SF6 is a fighting game masterpiece. Ignore the haters. The game is FUN.
As much as I want to see Punk win a title like Evo, I like to see him get humbled. I love shit talk and players being passionate, but as long as they know they the best cause they can outplay every single person in front of them and still show respect to the other player. Never take shots at legends if they didnt deserve it.
The level of execution and how matches can just swing the in other direction like that makes it very fun to watch. The game's just going to get better as they throw new characters into the mix.
Now just wait till after the Japanese players watch and disect this match and see what they come up with. High level. Its bonkers. For me who just made diamond 1 with Lily, feels bad man. Hoping some Balrog-esque figure graces this game. Missing my main.
I just want to shout to the amount of focus and skill the best players in SF6 have, cause game is hard, it is hard to play on high level. It is just insane, you get tired just by watching them do what they do, this is nuts!
this game is absolutely great it does need a few tweeks but its minor ones mk1 is harder to balance rn then sf6 will ever be like the capcom fight team really killed it w this game
Why is it that every time max uploads the title gets changed? I get the notification, and it has a specific title, then I watch it a couple hours later and the title has changed.
