I'm fed up with hearing those pundits (they still exist) who say "practising penalties is pointless because you can't replicate the intensity of a real shootout". It's quite simple - if you practise penalties a lot, you can fall back on your technique in a pressure situation. That's why you practise any skill......

Of course another miracle over the Dutch. Southgate's tactic is for the defense and midfield to keep STATICALLY passing between themselves and backward until they lose the ball to the opposition and maybe pass it forward sometimes. Getting a goal depends on one of the forwards creating an opportunity by himself.

If you're English of course you think England could and should win, if your Dutch of course you think The Netherlands should or could win. The likes of: V. Dijk, AKE and to a lesser extend Gagbo being the dominant players at Liverpool and ManU could just be a bridge to far for the likes of an underperforming Kane and co. Either way, England - Netherlands should be good game and whoever wins would still be able to take the trophy home.

@@DutchMolenaar The mighty Portugal only managed to see off Slovenia by penalties too. Germany escaped of last 16 exit because VAR helped them twice, 1 disallowed goal and a penalty which mere eyes couldnt detect. Germany only managed equalizer vs Switzerland in the last 2 minutes of the match. Just you won 5-1 against Scotland doesn't guarantee you the strongest team. England did also won 3-1 over Scotland in friendly too.

The English team, players and coaching have been under incredible pressure by their own media. More so than Koeman or Oranje is under the Dutch media. Expectations are so much higher for the English team since we Dutch people are honestly surprised we even made it this far. The difference between Haaland at City and Kane for England is that Haalnd creates space for those around him, so that others can get into scoring positions. Don't see Kane doing much of that or anything at the moment.

What a load of waffle. The upcoming match is truly a 50/50 match ... both teams have not been overwhelmingly positive. England just scraping by and the Dutch had a lot of luck on their side ... I mean the loss against Austria actually was a blessing as it meant the Dutch had the more easy path . Just looking at the quality of football , I feel I already watched a final when Spain played Germany... that was an amazing game. The quality of football on display outside of spain and a few other lesser teams has been embarrassing. You have teams like england and especially france, terrified to attack. England can win if they play attacking football. Netherlands will be a formidable opposition. If they attack they can beat Netherlands. This was a decent performance from England. Gota give them credit for getting the job done. Very fine margins. Swiss unlucky, not much in it for sure but hey thats tournament football. Maybe England are here to win it rather than entertain everyone.

The press clearly ignoring that Spain, as well as France and the Dutch, who we face next, are still in the tournament. Not once one sided our media huh. The Swiss weren't at the races today, and England were better, but not great by any stretch, than the other games. So i cannot get into the hype groove yet. Wasn't this the same crap they came out with in 2018, 2021 and 2022 as well, oh and every single tournament since 66, indeed.

Yes, once in 1966, once in 1996. "It's coming home" refers to hosting the tournament in the home of football, i.e. England.

As a dutch guy. I must say both sides play terriblenfootbal at the moment. England might even be the worst for what they have out there on the pitch. At the end only the wins are important. So did both teams. Both teams would have been knocked out at the other side of the table
