Today we bring out some of the Remington Nitro Turkey 2-3/4" 1.5oz 5s and put them to the test at 40 yards through the Remington 11-87 and an Avian-X Crusher .665 choke. We definitely got some interesting results from this one, so stick around and see how they perform!

Try the undertaker choke. It’s a real budget choke but preforms great. It’s been my go to for years with the 20GA.

That's definitely a choke I would like to test as some point

I have hammered some gobblers with this load in 3.5’s. But I only got them because I was out and couldn’t find anything else. Plus, that was in the early 2000’s, so we didn’t have a lot of choices. But I rocked at least 10 of them; that box fell between my missing years. 😂

The 3.5" shells never did give me any kind of good pattern whatsoever. These 2-3/4" versions are noticeably better, but still not as good as I'd like them to be

I have never been able to tame these shells to my liking. I’ve got some old Remington Hevi-Shot 4’s and 5’s I might send you if you want to shoot ‘em on the channel.

They seem like they are right on the edge of being something decent, but are missing something small that would actually help them out. And yeah, you are more than welcome to send those shells if you would like to. All the info for that is in the video description

I am curious I us about the results from these shells through a regular full choke

I don't think they would be anything great just based off how they've done so far, but you never know I guess. Maybe that's something we can test at some point

Hmm... It is questionable. I would like to see this fired through the Gobble Stopper Xtreme. Your videos of the the Win. XR 5 & 6 fired through the Gobble Stopper Xtreme raised my eyebrows big time!. I'm very impressed with both of those combinations. Thanks Matt! Skal!

I think we can make that happen

Amazing how big a difference from one choke to another with the same constriction. Love this channel! Thoughts on the Buck kicker? I for sure would like to see some #4 buck testing.

I have never shot anything through a buck kicker, but it's definitely something I have on the list that I want to test at some point

Plated shot goes a long way... The Remington Premier turkey shells are a better load (nickle plated). I tested a bunch and got 15-20 pellets in the vitals with Jebs 660 in the Versamax, and 655 Carlson's in the 930 Mossberg... All that said, it could be just finding that choke constriction it likes with these Nitros. They are definitely built on the budget side. Funny enough, the 3" nitro turkey has more payload than the 3.5" when you cut them apart.

If Remington plated the pellets in these shells, that small detail might be the little thing needed to make the difference in how they pattern. These 2-3/4" versions seem to be close to the edge of throwing a decent pattern, but just feel like they're missing something, which could be plated shot

Its a star pattern. I have seen this when the wad does not have enough velocity and force to open up. I think your wad displays that very well with its shape and lack of spread on the one side. IMO for what its worth. Still have a dead turkey.

That could definitely make sense

Be honest, take that target and circle where you were aiming. In your voice at the beginning, sounds like you already had your mind made up

Would it have worked, sure, but we've already tested these loads a bunch of different times in a bunch of their different versions and in different setups and they have never been great. That's why I didn't expect anything impressive from them to begin with
@AnthonyAnania
@AnthonyAnania 3 месяца назад
@@matttyreeoutdoors that may be, but you can't go into it with that mindset, because all it takes is one time to possibly prove that theory wrong. Make sure all things are done the same way including where you aim before coming to that conclusion. Every time

@AnthonyAnania That's why I don't just do one test in one video with one shell. I test the whole box through a bunch of different chokes and setups to see if something works well together. Once you pattern shells as much as I have over the years, you can kinda look at previous performances as well as the components the shell is loaded with and pretty much have a basic idea as to how it will perform. If I didn't think there might be a combo out there that works well with these shells, I would have stopped testing them a long time ago. I always hope that a poor shell will prove me wrong, but that still has never happened with these shells

worst shell you could possibly shoot by far..

It isn't great, but it's not the worst we've seen either. That title would have to go to the B&P turkey shells
